Chapter 139
I could feel Darian’s anger rising rapidly, engulfing the air around us while the Dark Guard got into a defensive stance.
“Kiera, why don’t you go into the room and draw a picture of some beautiful flowers that you would like to see?” I said calmly.
Ophelia stepped up, let go of Mr. Light’s arm, and held out her hand to keep Kiera put.
“Do not tell my daughter what to do, she’s staying.”
I took a step forward and felt my heart race in my chest.
She’s just a pup, five years old is no age to witness everything that’s about to go down here.
“She’s a child!”
“My child,” Ophelia seethed and took another step.
“You may have birthed her but the title of mother is one you’re not worthy of seeing as a mother’s job is to protect her child,” I spat.
“Like your mother protected you from Darian?” Her lips curled in a nasty smirk, “before he murdered her I mean,”
Everything around her and behind her turned black and I had tunnel vision, seeing only that self-serving bitch and wondering who the fuck these gods were that I’d been taught to worship if they would allow a woman like that to become a mother.
How could someone put an innocent child on this planet, and allow the mother to rip her away from the safety of her father, only for her sole guardian to not give a damn about what happens to her. I couldn’t turn my head and watch Kiera because I was afraid of what that last straw would do if it snapped. My patience was already running low, every nerve itched in my body and my claws were aching for blood.
It was uncharted territory for me to feel this rage, this unnerving anger that turned me inside out and shifted my heart into a block of ice. For the first time in my life, I felt dangerous, everything was rushing to the surface and Trixy stepped up next to me. My claws extended, my eyes turned yellow and a loud growl left my lips and filled the air. The wincing of her right eye sent a wave of pleasure over me and it was indescribably pleasing to watch her proud face fall for just a second.
I lunged, Trixy was right there by my side and I had locked my sight in on her neck, knowing that a puncture on the right spot would make her bleed out before her wolf would ever have time to heal her.
Just when my feet left the ground and I was about to go for the kill I realized that I wasn’t moving, I wasn’t running or lunging, I was stuck in the same place watching Ophelia and when I looked over my shoulder to see what it was that was keeping me I saw Darian’s hand wrapped tightly around my wrist.
What the fuck?
I growled and spun around, the anger poured out in waves and I pushed at his chest and raised my hand to peel his fingers off my wrist but before I got a chance, he grabbed my other wrist and pinned my hands down by my sides- it was clear that he was trying not to hurt me but I wasn’t in the same mindset. Darian gently let go of my hands and grabbed my waist, he pulled me around and covered Ophelia.
“You’re protecting her?!”
The added rage from Trixy was causing anger in new measures and Darian standing in my way, protecting that bitch was making him a rightful recipient of at least half of it.
I growled and stepped back but his hand on my lower back tightened and he pulled me in.
“I’m protecting you,” he leaned down and I felt his heart beating calmly and his warm breaths fanned my hair, “look behind her,”
He stepped aside and the tunnel vision slowly vanished inch by inch. Everything around Ophelia came into view including the Dark Guards who had moved closer behind her, each guard rested a hand on the handle of their blade.
Mr. Light’s claws were extended and he stood on her left side, his eyes glowing as his wolf was present with him and his predatory gaze was zeroed in on

Chapter 139
Ophelia stood unbothered, with no claws or canines, not one pearl of sweat dripped down her caked-up face because she knew she wouldn’t have to lift a finger. She knew I wouldn’t get close enough to touch her before I was dead.
A weak, pathetic girl who couldn’t fight her own battles but needed the backup of at least five men while allowing her daughter to watch all of it. She was going to let me be killed in front of her Kiera.
“You don’t want your new whore harmed, how sweet. Where did this newfound bleeding heart of yours come from?” She looked at Darian who took a steady breath, he didn’t break a sweat either. Why was I the only one reacting?
“It came from caring about someone other than myself, you should try it sometime,”
She grinned and shrugged a careless shoulder.
“Nah, I’m good with what I’ve got. Means I don’t have to get my nails dirty,” something dark flashed in her eyes.
“It does bother me though, watching your heart bleed…for her,” her eyes turned on me and they were dark, showing a manicured anger but it wasn’t very threatening. It seemed that her skill laid between her legs more than in her strength, if it were just us two I’m sure I could’ve taken her.
“Why aren’t you doing anything?” I snapped and looked at Darian. He was calm, his heartbeat and his breathing- everything about him was calm and collected but I felt his anger, it surged through me like it was my own.
He looked down at me, a twinkle in his eye sparked a flame and he said darkly, “I am,”
