Chapter Twenty–Two
Rose
I wake to my alarm at seven o’clock. I groan, searching for it to turn it off. I don’t want to get up t still feel exhausted even after six hours of sleep. I finally find it and turn the damn thing off. I noti a text on my cell from Jayce, but it doesn’t say Jayce; it says Sir with a little winky emotion. It me laugh. It’s cute, something I didn’t think he would do. I see the text came through at five. Who is awake at five in the morning?
Good morning, beautiful Rose. I hope you slept well x
Good morning. Sir. Yes, I did, but I am still tired. Why were you awake at five? X
1 sit up, stretching and running my fingers through my messy hair. My cell starts to ring, and 1 glance down to see Jayce calling me. It isn’t just a phone call, though; it’s a video call. I can’t let him see me like this! I just woke up and look a mess. But if I ignore it, then I am sure he will not be happy. I take a deep breath and answer.
Jayce appears on my screen, and it looks like he is sitting on his bed, sweaty and shirtless. I instantly moan and bite my lower lip.
“Hello, pretty eyes.” He has a wolfish smile.
I swallow hard. “Hi,” I finally stammer out.
“And to answer your question, I am up at five nearly every morning except Sunday. I like to make a decent breakfast and get my workout in before work.”
The workout would explain the sweatiness.”

“You chose to get up at five? What is wrong with you?” I tease.
Jayce chuckles. “There is nothing wrong with me. I want to take care of myself.”
“Rather you than me. I wo
or something on the go.”
rather sleep than make breakfast, especially when I can grab a yoghurt
It probably doesn’t help I hate cooking! I watch the look on his face change to a stern one and his
familiar brow raise I have gotten used to. Oh shit, I probably shouldn’t have told him that, especially after he mentioned about keeping me healthy last night.
You eat yoghurts for breakfast?”
“Yes, what is wrong with yoghurt?” I protest.

Chapter Twenty–Two
“It isn’t a proper meal, Rose.” He sighs.
“I have done it for years, and it hasn’t caused me any harm. I don’t like cooking.”
Jayce shakes his head. “Pretty eyes, you must take better care of yourself. I will leave the conversation there, for now, until after our dinner tonight.”
“I do take care of myself.” I huff and cross my arms over my chest.
“Drop the attitude, kitten.”
I decide since he isn’t in the
same room as me, I will mess with him a little. I purposely roll my eyes
and screw my face up. Jayce shifts on the bed, his jaw clenching.
“Oh, I get it. You think because I am not there you will use it as an opportunity to sass me, angel?”
“Yup, pretty much,” I smirk.
Jayce stares at me, not saying another word until a sly smile rises on his lips. It makes me nervous. Í slump down on my bed and anxiously chew the inside of my cheek.
“I will be seeing you, pretty eyes.” He smirks and hangs up the call. What the heck? What does that mean? I open a quick text to send him.
You mean tonight, right? X
I 1 stare at my screen, and it comes up as read. I wait for his reply, but he doesn’t come. Asshole! 1 groan and pull my ass
it of bed because I need to shower. I was too tired to have one last night. As I head towards the bathroom, I see Remi coming out.
“When did you get home, you dirty little minx?” I giggle.
“An hour ago.” She smirks.
“Did you have fun?”
“So much. The man is an animal!” She meows.
It would seem all the brothers are the same.
“Glad you had fun.” I smile.
“What about you? Did you end up spending the night with Jayce?”
“Yes, he left at one,” I blush while I tell her.

She laughs at my reaction. “Did you have nex7”
“No, but he did things to me multiple times.”
My stomach tightens, and between my thighs pulses even at the thought of it.
“You can tell me all about it later. I need to get ready for work.”
“I am going to Jayce’s for dinner. I am not sure when I will be back. If you are still awake, we can talk when I come home. If not, we can talk tomorrow.” I promise, then head off to have a warm, relaxing, shower.
I usually set my clothes out, but I was a little distracted last night. It doesn’t take long for me to find an outfit. The publishing house where I work allows us to dress business or casually. I like to ‘mix it up, but today, casual will do–a plain blue summer dress with a pair of flats. I don’t have the energy to make more of an effort.
I pull my hair into a high ponytail and braid. And to finish the look, a little mascara and lip gloss. I give myself the once over in the mirror and nod. I make sure I have everything I need. I don’t seem to be functioning correctly at the moment. I will be fine once I have coffee. I casually stroll into my kitchen and smile when I see coffee left for me. I reach into the cabinet for a mug.
“Good morning, pretty eyes.”
