Chapter 150
Colors worked like taste and music in reliving a memory.
And the colors around Darian’s room were kicking me in the face and the stomach and every other place where a person could hurt. Nora sat still on the sofa and stared at the wall while picking her nails. Her words got to me, deeply. I think she’s afraid to leave me alone but her staying here out of pity isn’t exactly improving my confidence.
A wrinkle formed on her face and she lowered her hand and stopped chewing on her cuticles.
“How’d you get out of the Council?” She asked.
A rock landed in my gut and 1 gulped, which was my body’s way of saying good fucking job putting your trust in a demon.
Nora’s face twisted in confusion when I didn’t answer- oh god, wonder what she’d think of me when she heard that the only reason we got out when we did was because Zade helped us.
I cleared my throat and scratched my brow in anticipation.
“Do you remember at the club, before Darian came we met-”
The sound of her hands slamming down on the leather sofa made me jerk my head back. It was an awful sound and I begged she wouldn’t do it again but then I raised my gaze and realized that skin against leather was the least of my worries.
“You did not ask that slimy, eye fucking demon for help- tell me you didn’t do something so dumb!”
What in the world are you talking about? I would never, after he aided in Darian’s kidnapping and shoved his tongue down my throat to gain my trust and then almost-fuck, this was bad, what had I done?
Zade was no less twisted than Darian but a big difference was that twisted was Zade’s natural state whereas Darian had to literally hide away his humanity to do the things he did.
That person- that demon- helped us.
“Technically,” I started and held my breath.
“I want you to be literal right now, Hazel, because if you did ask for his help, then he will be back and claim his price eventually,”
His price?
Of course, he’d want a price. No good deed goes unpunished- right?
Ugh, my head was about to burst. The last thing I wanted, on top of everything already wrecked, was for Zade to come and knock on the palace doors- especially now that my sister and Kiera would be living here.
There was no telling who Zade had behind him either, the way that he spoke about the Devil made it sound like he was real. But what kind of a world would this be if the Devil was not only real but could walk up amongst us and fight with his Demons?
No, that’s too far-fetched, but Zade coming here to make us even, was not.
“Do you think Darian knows?” Was I worried about Darian planning for a possible Demon attack? You bet.
Her retort wasn’t very sophisticated. Nora snorted and bent her brows while she glared so deep into my eyes that it felt like her condescending glare was piercing my soul.
Nora and I went for a walk. I wouldn’t be able to relax until Mathilda was here and who knows when that’ll be.
A big part of me wanted to see her walk through the doors and hear her voice screaming my name until it echoed throughout the palace hallways.

Chapter 150
A smaller part of me wanted her to stay away- that part and I didn’t get along very well- but away from me is where she’d be safest right now.
At least until everything had settled and there were no more people who wanted us wiped from the earth’s surface.
We walked down the left wing and down the corridors past several doors many of which I had no idea where they led.
Nora strutted in her lace dress like she owned the floor and ceiling and everything in between. Even when she walked, no talking or socializing, she did it with a graceful presence embraced by a powerful aura. She was confident in everything she did and I wondered if that was a Nora thing or a Belle thing.
A door opened down the hall and three warriors stumbled out laughing- their hair was wet and drops of water fell down their uniform-covered chests. They spotted Nora, and when I spotted I mean their eyes quite literally narrowed and visibly darkened as lust covered their corneas like a veil. She slowed down, and walked with a purpose- her hips swayed seductively and even I couldn’t look anywhere else.
The Guards surrounded her, one of them licked his lips and grabbed her hair, he folded it around his hand and yanked her head back til it slammed against
his chest.
The one in front of her dragged his hand up her front, he took a firm grip of her breast before he continued up and grabbed around her throat and the third one took Nora’s hand and guided it down to his- oh no.
I looked away but unfortunately, that didn’t stop me from hearing.
“See what the sight of you does to us, Belle?”
“You better help us take care of that,” another one said.
“One in each hole,” the third one huskily groaned.
Nora moaned and one of the guys groaned even louder.
“Hazel,” she called on me softly but do I turn?
