Chapter 134
EMILY
Jada bursts into the hotel room, her eyes sparkling with bliss, and a triumphant smile lighting up her face. She was definitely in a better mood since the last time I saw her. I liked seeing her this way. I was beginning to worry that Lana’s selfish ways had ruined Jada’s pure smile for good.
“I can hardly believe it,” she exclaims, her voice filled with relief. “Before long, Apollo will be single again, and that means we can finally get married!! have been waiting so long for this!”
I lean back against the soft, velvety cushions of the white sofa, feeling a wave of happiness wash over me. “All we need to do now is sit back and let the pieces fall into place,” I tell her, a sense of calm enveloping the moment.
After everything I’ve been through recently because of the daughter of my husband’s new wife, things were finally looking better.
Jada tosses her designer purse onto the sofa, as she sinks into a nearby chair, her posture relaxes even further. “It feels like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders,” she admits, her voice softening as she looks into my eyes. “I’m so grateful you suggested this plan. At first, I wasn’t sure if it would work but clearly I had no reason to have doubts about this.”
I agreed with her and felt a sense of consolation knowing my son would no longer have feelings for Lana. However, one lingering thought kept bothering
- me.
I’ve been trying to reach out to the pack members to find out where my son is, but no one is answering my calls.
“Is something wrong?” Jada asks, noticing my troubled expression. “Are you having second thoughts?”
“I wanted to stay close to Apollo, in case anything went awry, like I mentioned to you in the past,” I tell her. “But they’ve stopped updating me.”
She leans in, “Maybe they’re just busy with what you asked them to do.”
There’s a chance she’s right, but I need those updates to ensure everything is unfolding as planned. I need to know that they’re getting the job done properly while also keeping Apollo safe from any harm.
“I’ll try again,” I say, grabbing my phone from the counter and dialing Ridge’s number. Once again, there’s no answer.
“Still nothing?” she inquires.
I nod, “I’m starting to get anxious.”
I attempt to call again, then once more, and again.
“They’re not picking up!” I exclaim to Jada as I try calling Alpha Ridge for the fifth time.
She looks nervous as she says, “it is kind of troubling that they’re not answering any of your calls.”
“Maybe we should just go to his place and see if anyone can help us,” I suggest. I was beginning to get anxious.
Jada furrows her brow, “I’d rather not. I had a tough time there the last time, and I really don’t want to go back. Those men made me feel very uncomfortable.”
Just as I’m on the verge of trying to convince her, my phone bursts into an urgent ring that immediately alerts me.
“Do you have any idea how long I’ve been trying to reach you?” I exclaim, my voice a mix of frustration and desperation. “Where are you? Where are you hiding my son?” The words spill out, fueled by a swirl of stress and outrage, as I pace the room.
“Slow down.”
This wasn’t Ridge’s voice?
Chapter 134
“Who is this?”
“Our Alpha told me to call you and inform you that there has been a price increase.” He informs me.
What?
“What are you talking about?” I demand. “We already agreed on a price! Why are you suddenly demanding something else?”
“We encountered a lot of extra issues while taking your son and his mate.” He explains. “That means, our price have raised.”
I frown, “that was not discussed. I never agreed to this.”
He sighs, “if you refuse to pay. There will be consequences.”
I didn’t like feeling at the mercy of anyone. I made the terms clear from the beginning. If he wanted more money, he should have stated so from the start.
“I will pay but only if you give me my son’s current location,” inform him.
Without warning, he disconnects the call, leaving me startled and worried.
There were so many more questions I wished to ask but was now unable to do so.
As I stare at the screen, my mind races with questions about my son’s safety. I made it clear that I didn’t want him harmed, at least not in any serious way.
“What’s going on?” Jada presses, her voice laced with urgency as she peers at me with wide, concerned eyes. “What did he say?”
I sink into the sofa once more, feeling its familiar embrace but finding no comfort in it. My thoughts rotate like a storm inside my head, what did they plan to do?
Why were they keeping Apollo’s whereabouts a secret from me? The questions gnaw at me relentlessly, and the unease settles deeper into my bones. ! couldn’t shake the feeling that something awful was unfolding.
“They want more money,” I inform her.
“That is ridiculous.” Jada says. “I knew those men were not to be trusted! What do we do now?”
“There’s nothing we can do, Jada,” I say sharply, feeling a bit overwhelmed with the sudden turn of events. “If we include anyone else in this, they’ll figure out we were involved. The only option I have left is to wire them more money and hope they carry out the job without harming my son.”
She opens her mouth to say something but shuts it when the phone starts ringing again.
I answer the call immediately, “hello?”
“Ridge says that he cannot disclose our location.” He informs me.
This was ridiculous.
“But like I said before, if you refuse to send the money, we can’t promise you the safety of your son.”
My heart pounds loudly in my chest, each thump echoing my growing anxiety, fueled by the weight of his threat.
“You will not dare lay a hand on him. That was not on the agreement.”
“If I recall correctly, you said that we need to do whatever needs to be done to get one of them to reject the other.” He reminds me of my own words.
“Yes but-”
“Well, we are fulfilling our end of the deal.” He answers me. “Dont worry, once you send the money, your son will still be alive by the end of it all.”

Chapter 134
Before I have a chance to respond, he ends the call.
Jada looks at me and I know you she just heard every word of that.
“This doesn’t look so good.” She whispers.
If anything were to happen to my son, I wouldn’t be able to forgive that girl, Lana. She’s the one to blame for all of this. It’s entirely her fault. If only the had stayed out of our lives, none of this would have ever happened.
“L’ana is the reason for this!” Jada exclaims as if reading my mind.
“Absolutely.” I whisper fiercely. “I’m looking forward to her being completely out of my son’s life.As soon as I get my son back from those men, I will ensure that she never comes anywhere near him again. I will make it my priority to keep her far away from him for good.”
I truly meant every word I said. There simply wasn’t a place for someone like Lana in
my son’s life.
