1 told him everything like it was happening right then and there. Every word that Angus had said was relayed and I made sure not to leave anything out.
My back slumped against the back of the chair and I waited for a reaction. The office smelled of bourbon and sandalwood, something I noticed only when I was trying to be anywhere but in front of Darian.
“Thank you,” he said and pushed his chair back.
My eyes widened when he stood and I sat as still as a statue.
“That’s it?” I asked.
I pushed the chair back and with careful moves, I got up and faced him.
His eyes were soft and he was still calm even though I could feel the anger that he was fighting.
“That’s it,” he said with a shrug off his shoulder.
“But why? I know you’re mad and you’re allowed to be mad,”
“I am mad. I’m mad that you didn’t tell me but that look on your face fuels me with more rage than anything you could possibly tell me,”
I stepped back and gulped
Darian’s eyes widened and he hurried over with his arms reached out and grabbed my shoulders.
“No that’s not what I meant. I just hate that I have given you a reason to be afraid of me. I want you to come to me with everything, good and bad, and reacting will only make it so you don’t,”
My breath hitched and I nodded my head.
Darian released my shoulders and stepped back.
“Thank you for telling me,”
He was doing a mighty good job hiding the rage that circulated his giant body.
But I was done, I’d told him and now he knew.
Now I could worry about Nora instead and Gabe’s anger being taken out on her.
I had left Darian’s office and passed a man in the doorway who had a booked meeting, he was followed by a group of male guards but I didn’t stay to ask who he was. Instead, I hurried to the room and crawled under the covers for a nap. Now that I was rested and nursed a pounding headache I decided to go
find Nora.
On my way I saw Elise returning with Keira and Mathilda. Kiera’s eyes lit up when she saw me and she dropped Elise’s hand and hurried over. That was new.
She smiled and looked up at me with her hand gesturing for me to lean down so I did and controlled my expressions so she wouldn’t see how startled I was by her wanting to talk to me.
“He said he’ll be waiting for you tonight,” she whispered gleefully.
Dread was over me like a running faucet and I smiled so I didn’t worry her.
“Who did, sweetheart?”

Chapter 177
She leaned in closer and cupped her hand around my ear.
“The human,”
“When did you meet him?” The hard tone sent her backing away so I shook my head and put on a smile.
“Tell me, it’s okay,” I whispered.
“He was with the man who gave me the note. Mommy’s friend,”
I looked behind her and Mathilda was talking to Elise about something, the sun was setting behind them and I felt it, it was near…our moment of peace was
over.
“Thank you, Kiera. I appreciate it but can you do me a favor?”
She nodded. That demon prick and his new follower were not setting foot near the girls again.
“If you see that man again, I want you to have this in your mind: Find Hazel. You don’t need to say it but just think it, like a fun game. Can you do that?”
“Yes,”
“Good girl,”
Kiera walked back to Mathilda and Elise. They informed me that they were going to the library so I knew they’d be busy for hours. Once they were gone I headed toward the door but the nagging thought that I should tell Darian first hung over me like a net.
I tried to mind-link him but it was blocked so I threw my head back and turned around.
It’d been at least two hours so his meeting should be over.
There wasn’t time for formalities so I skipped the knock and opened the door but regretted it just as quickly.
The Guards were undressed, one had a girl on his lap, another had a girl on her knees jerking him off while sucking his cock and a third girl was entertaining two guys at once.
Darian leaned back against the desk and he turned his head and we locked eyes.
I stepped back, closed the door, and ran.
Those were Bells, they had to be but what the fuck were they doing in his office?
That did not just happen. I ran but I didn’t know where to, I just ran until I was opening a door and slamming it shut behind me.
I was pacing around our bedroom and looked at the made bed, visions of him and every Bell he could’ve possibly been with flashed in my mind all at once. I saw them on the bed, him in the center and I started pulling at my hair.
The door opened up and I heard it close behind me but I didn’t react to the sound.
“Hazel!”
“Do not touch me!” I backed away and held out my arm to keep him away.
Darian groaned, his sharp features tensed and he slapped my hand away and pinned it down.
“That’s not what it looked like.”
It wasn’t open for interpretation. There were girls in his office with a dozen Guards and they were naked. Their moans and actions very much painted the picture that was permanently burned into my mind.

“There were Guards fucking Bells in your office, tell me how that’s not what it looked like?” I screeched.
“Look at me,” he said and stepped back.
He lifted his arms and searched my eyes.
“No!”
“Look at me! I’m dressed, I’m just like when you left me. Nothing happened,” he said pleadingly and grabbed my arms like he wanted to shake me.
“Then why were they having an orgie in your office?” I seethed.
“It was an audition,” he said like it made any sense at all.
“We’re finding a new Bell and usually one is either recommended by Mary or Gabe goes there and he alone chooses one- it has never failed. But Gabe wasn’t in the right headspace so Mary sent over three girls for the warriors to choose between.”
But if they were getting a new Bell that meant replacing the previous one which was Nora.
“There is only ever one Bell at the palace,” I said.
Darian raised his head and put his hands in his pockets.
“Yes, Nora won’t be working here anymore.”
