Chapter 144
Chapter 144
**MILY
“What do you mean there’s nothing you can do for my son?” 1 demand, glaring at the doctor in front of me. I had flown in the best medical team I could find, convinced they would help Apollo wake up. But now, after hours of futile attempts, I was beginning to see their incompetence
“We’re unsure what’s happening with him, the lead doctor admits, a hint of frustration in his voice. He looks at the younger doctors in the room and they all have the same look of disappointment on their faces. “This is the first case like this we’ve encountered. We’ve run multiple tests, and everything has come back normal. Yet, for some reason, his body refuses to respond. This is highly unusual.”
This was ridiculous. If nothing was wrong, he would have woken up by now! These doctors clearly did not know what they were doing and were wasting my time.
“This is madness,” I shout, my voice rising. “I brought you here thinking you could help, but clearly I’ve made a terrible mistake. You were supposed to be the best. I wouldn’t recommend your team to anyone after this outcome.”
The doctor shifts uncomfortably under my glare. “I’m truly sorry, Ms. Reign. I assure you, I’m the best at what I do. Medically speaking, nothing seems to be wrong with your son. I suspect the issue may stem from something completely different.”
I narrow my eyes. “What are you implying? What could be causing him not to wake up? I want an explanation immediately.”
He sighs heavily. “You mentioned that he was kidnapped. Perhaps the shock from that experience is affecting him. This won’t be the first incident of shock that I’ve encountered. However, since all the tests returned normal results, I’m uncertain about the best course of treatment. I want to avoid prescribing anything that might worsen his condition.”
I lower my voice to a dangerous whisper. “My son is trained to handle situations like that. I can guarantee that it wouldn’t leave him unable to open at eyes. He is not weak, in fact, he is one of the best shifters I’ve ever known. And I’m not just saying that because he is my son.”
He shrugs slightly. “Then there must be something else that shocked him to such an extent that he can’t wake up. Maybe he’s resisting because facing reality is too painful.”
I bristled at his suggestion. There was indeed one other incident I could think of that would weigh heavily on my son: Lana’s rejection. I was not there to see how badly it affected him at the time but judging by the guilt on Lana’s face yesterday, it was obvious that it had caused him a lot of pain.
But could that really be the reason behind this? I didn’t want to accept it. Lana couldn’t have meant so much to my son that he refused to wake up simply because she rejected him. I refused to entertain such a ridiculous notion.
“You seem to know something” Doctor Eric says as he catches my expression. “What is it?”
I hesitated to bring it up, but ultimately I thought it would be better to address it openly. Perhaps he could clarify whether this could have any impact on Apollo or not.
“He got rejected by his mate,” I inform him. “Do you think that could cause something like this?”
He shrugs, clearly taken aback. “I’ve never encountered a situation like this before. Rejection can be devastating for shifters, especially when it’s unexpected. Still, I would have thought the pain wouldn’t keep him unconscious for this long. He should have woken up by now.”
So, what could be the issue? I had hoped to see my son awake by now. I had everything mapped out to turn him against Lana. Once he realized she had quickly moved on and left him to endure this along, he would surely see Jada as the right choice for him.
I was determined to show him how much Jada stood by him during this difficult time. He needs to understand all she did for him. I just hope I can finally
convince him to marry her and that he won’t back out again.
“You are totally useless to me.” I snap at the doctors, realizing that they were worthless to me. “Get out of my home and don’t call unless you have a solution to my problem!”
Doctor Eric nods and motions for his team to follow him, “I am sorry I couldn’t be of more assistance to you and your family Ms. Reign.”

Chapter 144
I do not bother showing him to the door as I drop myself onto the chair next to my son. There were a bunch of machines hooked up to him, one of them monitoring his heartbeat.
Those kidnappers double crossed me. They took the money but harmed my son in the process. Lana was the one who was supposed to end up like this, not Apollo.
My hand tightens into a fist. I had to do something about them. They couldn’t get away with something like this. While Lana was the reason that Apollo ended up this way, they were also partly at fault.
The image of my son lying in a pool of his own blood will forever haunt me.
Jada walks into the room, “what happened?” she demands. “Why is he still unconscious?”
“Those doctors were useless.” I snap. “They said that there was nothing that they could do.”
She frowns, “that is ridiculous!” she gasps. “How can such highly skilled doctors not be able to help him?”
I place a hand over my head, “I am truly tired of this. If my son had never met Lana, none of this would have happened. She is like a high blight in his life and I want her out of it for good.”
Jada nods, “I have to agree with you. She truly has only brought him misfortune ever since she entered his life. But what will you do if she tries to show up here?”
I narrow my eyes, “she cannot show up to my home. My security will make sure to keep her out.”
She sighs, “but there is also the chance that Apollo would want to see her when he wakes up.”
I squeeze my temples, getting a headache at just the thought of something like that happening, “I already plan to let him know that you were the one who stood by his side through these dark times. Lana couldn’t care less about him. In fact, she rejected him without a second thought. If that doesn’t show my son that she doesn’t care about him, I don’t know what will.”
Jada walks over to the other side of the bed and settles into one of the chairs. Taking his hand in hers, she leans in gently and plants a soft kiss on his cheek, “I hate to see him like this. I will do whatever I can to make sure that he wakes up.”
I smile, “he is so lucky to have you in his life.”
She nods thoughtfully, “I can think of a few doctors my family can reach out to. We have plenty of connections, and many of them owe us favors. I’m confident they can help us solve this issue.”
I felt a wave of gratitude for her willingness to assist. I was ready to accept any help that came my way. Unsure of what was troubling Apollo, I was resolved to uncover the truth.
I won’t rest until he wakes up.
