Chapter 215

Zade’s lips pulled in a grin and he rolled up the sleeve of his shirt.

“You all might want to look away for this,” he said humbly and reached out his arm.

The inked snake started moving, the tail slithered under his skin and the head slowly rose with its split tongue flickering as it fell on the bed.

“What in the….” one of the healers said and staggered back, hitting the table..

The snake moved across the bloodstained bed and up on Hazel’s stomach. It slithered toward her cut-up stomach and I drew a breath that I held in my lungs when it went into her and disappeared under her flesh. You could hear the sound of the snake slithering around in her but there was no gushing of blood like I thought it’d be. Her skin moved where the snake was slithering around. It looked like when the babies were moving around in her but I knew that I wasn’t a child- it was a fucking snake.

The doctor stepped closer and looked down, her brows slowly furrowed and she heaved a breath.

“It’s biting around the baby,” she whispered.

The machine went crazy, the beeping echoed in my head and throbbed against my skull, and everyone stood back and looked at Hazel.

A tightened grip on my heart folded me, and I grabbed onto the bed to keep myself from falling next to her. My head fell back, and I squeezed my eyes shut from the pain- how the fuck was this happening? I whipped my head back and looked at her eyes; her lids weren’t moving, and her chest wasn’t rising. No…

“Why isn’t her heart beating?” I asked and looked at Zade.

No, no, no!

I grabbed her hand, about to check her pulse, when Zade pushed me back, and I growled as my claws extended, about to rip through the damn Demon.

“Relax,” he said and raised his head.

We looked at the snake’s head poking up from inside of Hazel, and he slithered out and across her chest.

His sharp fangs glistened under the lamp when he widened his jaw, and his tail moved from side to side. He stopped and slowly raised his head. A loud hiss widened my eyes before he sunk his fangs into Hazel’s chest.

I took a step but was held back when Zade stepped between.

Hazel’s chest lifted from the bed like she’d been electrified; her lips parted, and her breathing stopped altogether.

Five seconds is what I’d give him before I tore his head off and fed it to his snake.

Four seconds.

The machine started beeping, and the lines moved when her heartbeat returned.

I finally exhaled the breath, and my shoulders slumped. The snake was covered in blood as he slithered down her waist and moved onto Zade’s stretched

arm.

“Good boy,” Zade dragged his fingers over the snake’s head, and it moved on his arm before disappearing under his skin. The snake moved its body and slithered under his skin, getting into position before it stopped and looked like a normal tattoo.

The machines all lit up in numbers and charts. The doctors and healers all took a breath, and Zade walked over and reached into her stomach. He lifted my son and was handed a blanket from the healer across from him.

He dried him off and gazed at his face as he cradled his head. There was something in his eyes- like he saw something familiar.

“Do they all look like her?” He asked calmly.

I saw it too, on all three of them, they had her beauty. Thank god for that.

“Yes,” I said.

Zade handed my son to the healer who took him to the others, and the doctors hurried to stitch Hazel up so she could rest.

Zade and I walked out of the room, and I was glad to see that it was empty in the hallway.

My Lycan whimpered, his sounds filled every crevasse and corner of my mind but a deal was a deal and he knew that. My Lycan stood tall and held his head high but the whimpers still echoed against my temples.

He didn’t want to leave, and I didn’t want to say goodbye but our Queen and child were alive because of Zade, I had to hold up my end of the deal.

“The snake venom kickstarted her heart, she should be fine but she’ll need a lot of rest and blood,” Zade said and rolled his sleeve down.

He turned around to face me with a raised brow.

“Just do it,” I said and rolled my shoulders back.

“Do what?”

“A deal is a deal,” my voice was dark and low. The Demon was testing my patience by pretending and prolonging this shit.

“You mean your Lycan?”

“Obviously,” I groaned.

“What use would I have of him in hell?”

I furrowed my brows and lifted my head as I stepped closer.

“I just wanted to see how far you’d go to save her, you didn’t disappoint.” Zade stepped closer and the blue in his eyes was replaced by a black swirling fog. “But if you ever let anything happen to that girl, I will come back and you will wish that I only took your Lycan,”

Part of me wanted to kill him for his blunt threats but the other part was beyond grateful for what he had done and without him, Hazel wouldn’t be alive. Both those parts loved that girl to death and if there was one more powerful person out there to protect her and watch over her, I should consider myself lucky.

I reached out my hand.

“I’m gonna hold you to that,” I said.
