Chapter 34 – Question
–LIA’S POV–
There was a knock on the door to the janitor’s closet.

I froze for a second, afraid it was a teacher or the actual janitor.
But then somehow, I smelled his cologne, even from a distance, with the door between us.
It was Zane.
Why was he still following me?
“Lia?” he said, and I clenched my jaw, burying my face in my knees.
What did he want from me still? He already had someone else.
“You felt it, didn’t you?”
I looked up, my eyebrows furrowing.
“You felt the bond,” he continued. “You felt the pain, didn’t you?”
My nails dug into my palms.
Jerk. He did it on purpose. Just to get to me.
Chapter 34 – Question
“I know I’m a jerk for what I did just now.”
My eyes widened. Could he hear my thoughts?
Lucky Draw
“I know what you’re thinking right now,” he added with a laugh. “I can’t read your mind, don’t worry.”
I relaxed slightly.
“Lia, love, when you told Sheila you’re gonna date someone else, I knew you were bluffing. But being a werewolf, I feel everything everything you feel a hundred times more. Can you imagine how it made me feel now?”
It took everything within me to not snap at him. He thought he could excuse what he did to me by saying all this.
“I wasn’t trying to hurt you just now. I only meant to tick you off. To make you feel the bond the way I do every second of the day. Sometimes, distance does it. I gave you a week, but you turned out stronger than I anticipated. I thought you’d call me, message me, anything. But you didn’t. I grew agitated.”
“So you came back with a girl?” I asked, not able to hold back
anymore.
“Yes. Because I disappeared for a reaction, and yet you didn’t give me any. Not even a message, Lia.”

Chapter 34 – Question
Lucky Draw
I stood up, seething with anger, and opened the door, ready to give him a piece of my mind.
But before I could utter a single word, Zane pushed me back and joined me inside, slamming the door shut again. He locked it, before turning to me.
I opened my mouth to yell at him, but he stepped closer, pushing me against the wall. My voice caught in my throat.
“Before you say a word,” he said softly, his blue eyes shining even in the dark, “I’d like to say that I’m sorry.”
I narrowed my eyes. “You’re–”
“Shh.” He pressed a finger to my lips, and the second our skins. made contact, tingles erupted throughout my body, and warmth seeped into my insides. “Always so angry. Always in a hurry. Don’t you ever rest, Lia?”
“Not ever since you and Blake told me what you are,” I replied, my lips moving against his finger.
Zane smiled. “I see, my finger cannot silence you.”
“No, it cannot.”
“No problem.” He then pressed his palm over my lips, making me glare at him. “Better?” he asked.
