Chapter 80 – Caught–3
–LIA’S POV–
“What the hell?” she cried. “Dave!”
Zane quickly withdrew his hand and climbed off the bed, backing away with his hands raise in surrender.

“Mom, it’s not what it looks like!” I said, crawling off the bed. “Relax.”
“Dave!” Mom yelled again, making me bury my face in my hands. “Lia, come here, get away from him.”
I glanced at Zane, who stood there with his eyes shut and nose scrunched up.
I pursed my lips.
“What’s wrong?” Dad entered my room, holding a baseball bat. “What’s going on here? Who is this boy?”
“It’s Zane Adams,” Mom spat with utter distaste. “He was on top of her in her bed with his hand over her lips.”
Dad glared at him. “How dare you?” he said, charging towards
Zane.
I quickly stepped between them. “Dad, wait!” I said, flinching.

He barely stopped himself before crashing into me.
“Lia, out of the way,” he warned.
“No,” I said, scowling. “I will not let you attack Zane.”
“Why not?” Mom asked. “Are you in your senses?”
“Yes, Mom. Zane wasn’t doing anything to me.”

“Then why was he gagging you? Why did you hear you scream?”
“He was tickling me!” I said, my cheeks flaming with embarrassment.
Mom and Dad frowned, glancing at each other.
“We’re… we’re a thing now,” I muttered, wishing the floor would
eat me up.
“You’re a what now?” Mom asked incredulously.
“Didn’t this boy bully you for ten years?” Dad said.
I sighed. “He didn’t. His friends did.”
“Is that what he’s saying to manipulate you?” Mom snapped.
“I am not being manipulated. I know what I’m doing, Mom.”

“Clearly not,” she said. “You’re getting fooled by his pretty face. and blue eyes, Lia. I understand the attraction, he’s a bad boy and you think you can fix him, but you can’t.”
I scratched my forehead.
“I don’t think I can fix him,” I stated. “There is nothing to fix. He’s perfectly fine.”
“You’re obviously losing your mind.”
“No, Mom. I’ve lost my heart.”
Mom’s face fell, and Dad looked like he was thinking of brutal ways to kill Zane.
“To him?” Mom whispered, now approaching me.
“Yeah. I love him.”
I turned my head to glance at Zane, who was staring at me with glassy eyes. My heart skipped a beat, and I thought I heard his
too.
“Lia,” Mom cupped my cheeks, “honey, no. Not him.”
“I told myself the same thing, Mom. But he saved my life. Twice. He’s not who I thought he was. There is much more to him than his brooding, mean exterior. He has a heart of gold, Mom. And

there is nothing he wouldn’t do for me.”

“It’s true,” Zane finally spoke up. “Mr. and Mrs. Snow, I know I have made my share of mistakes. I am aware that I’ve made your daughter cry one too many times. But I can swear to you, she is the best thing that has ever happened to me. And I will spend the rest of my life trying to make up for the last ten years of trouble I let her endure at the hands of
of my friends.”
Mom and Dad stared at him. I noticed how Dad finally lowered the bat in his hands. That meant we were getting through to him, at least.
“What about Blake?” Mom asked.
The question I’d been dreading.
“He is a nice boy, Lia. Why not him? I thought you were dating him.”
“We went out twice, Mom. The second time, things went really wrong. I will explain everything to you guys if you just calm down and give me a chance.”
Mom huffed. “Okay. Let’s go downstairs. But you, how did you get in her bedroom?” She glared at Zane.
Zane pursed his lips, then gestured towards the window.
“Delinquent,” Mom said, scowling.

“Sorry,” Zane muttered. “It won’t happen again.”
Hah. Liar.
“It better not,” Dad said.
“Come on. Downstairs,” Mom said ushering us out of my bedroom.

We made our way to the lounge and all sat down. Zane sat with my dad opposite to me and Mom.
We exchanged a glance, and I could tell he was still hung up on my very public confession.
“Start explaining,” Mom said.
I took a deep breath.
Here goes nothing.
