hapter 148 – Zane. Zane. Zane.
–LIA’S POV–
I didn’t move. Maybe I couldn’t.

My grip tightened around Christy’s wrist as Blake stepped over Sheila, entering the washroom.
Christy whimpered and moved back, pulling me with her until we were both against the wall.
Blake walked towards us slowly, his gait predatory, eyes red like a demon’s.
“Come, Lia,” he said in a low tone, reaching out to grab my hand.
I gasped, pushing both hands behind my back, as tears rolled down my cheeks. “What did you do to them?” I whispered, my voice cracking.
Blake let out a growl, his jaw clenching.
“Come,” he snapped, stepping forward and grabbing me by the waist, throwing me over his shoulder like I weighed nothing.
Christy screamed, grabbing onto my ankle, trying to pull me off
of him.

Blake growled and roughly pushed her aside, making her hit her head against the wall. A crack rang in the air.
“Christy!” I yelled, punching at Blake’s back as he carried me outside. “Let me go! Blake! Let me go!”
My struggles were futile.
The music from the gym had been turned up, drowning out my
cries.
Blake took me behind the school, and approached his car, opening the trunk.
“No,” I cried, fighting against him with all my might. “Please, Blake, let me go.”
His face was hard as he threw me into the trunk, pushing me down with a warning snarl when I tried to climb out.
“Stay,” he snapped, red eyes boring into mine. “I won’t hurt you.”
“Zane will kill you,” I whispered, wiping away my tears. “You won’t get out of this alive, Blake.”
His lips curled into a mocking grin. Even for him, it felt uncharacteristic. He looked inhumane, like an emotionless
monster.

“Zane Adams is out the picture now. Even if he isn’t, he’ll be out of yours after I make you mine.”
My heart almost stopped beating.
Blake slammed the trunk closed and everything went dark.
My chest heaved up and down as I thought of his words.
He was taking me somewhere to place his mark on me.
All his apologies, his kindness—it was all a pretense to fool us.
And like an idiot, I’d almost believed him. Almost.
The car started moving, pulling me back to the present. I couldn’t lie here and wait for him to have his way with me. I had to fight to escape this. Zane didn’t even know I was gone.
I kicked my feet against the trunk door, yelling and screaming at the top of my voice.
“Help!” I shouted like I was being burnt alive.
Even that would be better than being bound to Blake.
“Someone! I’m being kidnapped! Please.”
I screamed until my throat hurt, and my voice died down.

The car stopped, making me freeze. I heard a door close, and a moment later, the trunk opened again.
It was still Blake, this time looking even more pissed than the last.
He leaned down and grabbed my face, his nails digging into my cheeks.
I whimpered, trying to push off his hand.
“You ungrateful girl,” he said, glaring at me. “I did everything to make you love me. I showed kindness, love, care, everything. But you don’t care, do you? You never appreciated me. You chose the man who bullied you for years, because you do not know what’s good for you.” He let go of me with a jerk, and hot tears left my eyes, cheeks aching. “But now, you don’t get a choice. I decide for you.” Blake retrieved a syringe from the pocket of his pants, and my eyes widened again.
“No,” I begged, “Blake, please don’t. Please.”
He grabbed my arm in an iron hold, before stabbing the needle into it.
I screamed again, most of my voice suppressed inside my throat.
He pressed the syringe and emptied it into me, before withdrawing the needle and pressing his thumb on my skin to prevent bleeding.

With seconds, my head started to spin, the world blurring.

Blake’s handling of me turned gentle now, and he carefully pulled me out of the trunk, closing it.
I tried to keep my eyes open, blinking hard to clear my vision.
“Let… go…” I whispered, unsure if he could even hear me.
He placed me in his back seat now, brushing my hair away from my face, and wiping the sweat from my forehead. I wanted to pull away from his touch, but I didn’t have the strength to.
“Go to sleep,” he whispered, caressing my cheek. “It’s okay. Everything will be alright.” I felt him press a kiss to my temple, making everything within me recoil.
He finally pulled away and shut the door, taking the driving seat and starting the car again.
The movement made my head heavier, and bile rose up my chest.
I puked onto the floor of his car, and Blake glanced back, but didn’t stop.
“Go to sleep, Lia,” he said softly.
This time, I obliged, my eyelids drooping shut.

The world fell silent, but my mind didn’t.
Zane. Zane. Zane.
It kept repeating to no avail.

–ZANE’S POV–
I returned to the school, bursting through the gates in my wolf form.
I could scent Lia, but it wasn’t coming from the gym. So I followed the trail of her scent, rushing towards the girls‘ washroom.
My breath caught in my throat when I came to an unconscious Warner and Sheila. I sniffed them, focusing on their heartbeats and the sound of their breath.
They were both alive, but had gunshot wounds in their chests.
The wound hissed softly.
Silver.
I was about to walk off when a tiny whimper caught my ear. It came from inside the washroom.

I stepped inside, to find Christy on the floor, her head bleeding.
Shit.
I couldn’t leave her like this. She would die.
But where was Lia?
I had to make a choice.
Growling in frustration, I changed back to my human form, lifting her up into my arms.
She woke up slightly, a small cry leaving her lips.
“Shh, shh, it’s okay,” I whispered. “It’s me, Zane.”
She blinked up at me, tears leaving her
eyes.
“Li… Lia…” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
“Where is she, Chris?” I asked. “Who did this?”
She opened her mouth to speak, but seemed to be having trouble. I carried her to the gym, where everyone was gathered. Fellow students quickly noticed, shouting for help, pulling out their phones to call an ambulance.
“Christy!” a boy cried, running up to us. “What happened to

her?”
“I found her like this in the washroom.”

I laid her down on a table, bringing my ear close to her lips.
“Bl… Blake…” she managed to say, before falling unconscious again.
I stood up straight, my eyes turning black.
The boy who knew Christy noticed, mouth parting in shock.
But I didn’t care.
I was going to kill Blake Walker.
He’d dared to join hands with The Order.
And he’d dared to come for my pack, and for my mate.
This would be the last stupid decision of his life.
