Chapter 184 – Command
–LIA’S POV–

The training room was deeper in the pack house than I expected. Past all the usual halls and wings, down a long staircase that felt like we were heading into a bunker. The air was heavier here. The walls thicker. Like the whole place was built to keep something locked
in—or out.
Zane hadn’t said much since we left Blake behind upstairs. But the way he held my hand? He hadn’t let go once.
When we walked into the room, the Hounds were already there. Ajax leaned against the wall. Warner and Aaron sat on one of the mats. Sheila stood with her arms crossed, watching me closely.
“Welcome to the lab,” Ajax said, grinning. “Ready to fry our brains with your freaky powers?”
“Don’t be an idiot,” Zane muttered. “This is serious.”
The room was wide, with padded mats across the floor. Some light weapons were stacked in the corner. A full mirror stretched across one wall, and I hated how pale I looked in it. Silver streaks were already threading through my hair.
I frowned, running my hand through it.

Then turned to Zane again.
“So,” I said, trying to sound confident. “What’s the plan?”

“We start with control,” Zane said. “Focus exercises first. Then we try compulsion.”
I raised an eyebrow. “On who?”
He looked over at the Hounds.
“Nope,” Ajax said immediately, raising his hands. “Not messing with my head.”
“Oh please,” Sheila muttered. “Like you use it.”
“You want to do it?” he shot back.
Zane stepped in. “She’s trying it on me.”
“What?” I said.
“I can handle it.”
“No, Zane.”
“Yes.”
We stared at each other. I could feel my frustration building.

Ajax whistled softly. “This is gonna be fun.”
Zane turned back to me. “Just start simple. Look at me.
make me take one step back. Just that.”

Try to
I nodded, even though my chest felt tight. I looked into his eyes, and took a careful breath.
“Step back.”
Nothing.
“Again,” he said.
“Step back.”
He blinked. Moved half a step. Then stopped.
“I felt it,” he said. “Like an invisible wave. Do it again.”
“Step back.”
Zane scoffed. “You didn’t even try. Say it with purpose, Lia.”
I took a deep breath, gaze shifting from Zane to the Hounds.
They simply stared, eyes full of curiosity, waiting to see what I could do.
I didn’t want them to be afraid of me.

“My love?” Zane pushed, walking up to me. “We don’t have much time. Imagine it like a wave. Give it a colour in your head, a texture, maybe. Something heavy that leaves through your body and pushes down on the one you direct it at.”
“How would you know about these things?” I asked.
“Because I’m an Alpha,” he replied. “Alphas can command their pack members to submit. We can’t compel them like you can, obviously, but we can force them onto their knees and make them cower before us. So I’m just saying what I was told by my Dad during training.”
“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” I asked.
“Because it wasn’t important. I would never do that to you.”
“But could you?”
“Maybe. You’re a Goddess, so it’s hard to say.”
I nodded slowly, biting my lip.
“Let’s continue, shall we?”
