Chapter 198 – Value
–CAITLYN’S POV–
My stomach twisted, the room feeling smaller than before. I jammed myself tighter into the corner, still glaring at him, not allowing myself to falter. Or at least not to let it show.
“The only thing you’ll ever get from me, Blake Walker, is a poisoned dagger through your throat,” I spat.
He held my gaze, and the ghost of a smile appeared on his face.
“This is good,” he said softly. “You’re gonna be more fun than Lia
was.”
My face blanched, and this time I couldn’t keep the fear from seeping into my expression.
“You… you’re gonna do the same thing to me?” I whispered. “You’re gonna force yourself onto me too?”
Blake’s face fell. He then backed away, climbing out of the bed.
I didn’t relax, still watching his every move.
“I never wanted to do that to her,” he said quietly. “And I have never regretted anything more in my life.”
Net out a bitter laugh. “Liar. You only regret it because it didn’t

work for you. Had it worked, you would have been perfectly at peace with your goddess mate.”
A shadow crossed over his features, his jaw ticking.
“That’s not true, Caitlyn,” he said. “I know you hate us all, but we’re not as bad as you think.”
I nodded. “Maybe. Maybe not all of you. But you, Blake, are the worst of them all.”
His face didn’t change at all. So I continued.
“You can never win me over, if that’s what you plan on doing,” I stated. “You’re simply wasting both of our time. Let me go, and I will not kill you. Otherwise, you won’t see me coming.”
Blake remained silent for a moment, then nodded slowly. “Look in the corner of the room.”
My eyes followed his command instinctively.
There was a camera staring back at me.
“I will see you, Caitlyn. All the time if I want. You’re in my actual pack house now. In my actual home. Everything here is under my control. And so are you. You’re not getting out of here, darling. So you might as well make yourself comfortable.”
My face fell, eyes twitching. “What… where are we?”

“Back in my town,” he said simply.

“No,” I whispered, heart hammering within my chest. “You wouldn’t do that.”
“I did. You left me no other option.”
“What do you mean?” I cried, crawling off the bed. “How could you bring me here, Blake? And why? I thought…” I glanced around the room. There were no windows.
“You thought I’d let you stay in that town after you went after Lia?”
I met his gaze again, my eyebrows pulling together.
“You’re not getting anywhere close to her again.”
“Oh,” I whispered, a humourless chuckle leaving my lips. “So it’s about protecting her. And your guilt for what you did. You think. I’m a path to your redemption?”
“You probably are,” he replied, not missing a beat. “The Goddess wouldn’t grant me you if she didn’t think I deserved a second chance.”
“I’m not some blessing, Blake Walker. I will be your biggest. nightmare,” I snapped.

“Hence, the redemption.” He shrugged, making me want to gouge out his eyes.
“You’ll regret the day you laid eyes on me,” I warned.
“I already do,” he replied. “Relax now. Make yourself at home.
I’ll be back with food in a bit.”
“I’m not hungry.”
“I didn’t give you a choice.”
He turned to leave, and I let him, waiting for him to reach the door. As soon as he opened it, towards it as fast as I
I rush could, hoping to slip out before he’d close it.
But Blake swiftly stepped aside, grabbing my arms to spin me around and pushing me back against the door, closing it in the process. I gasped as a faint ache shot through my back, my eyest wide.
Blake stared down at me, resting his hands on either side of me,
caging me.
“I thought you’re a werewolf huntress,” he muttered, unimpressed. “Aren’t you supposed to be smart?”
I glared at him, my jaw clenched.
He lowered one arm to his side, but didn’t step away from me.

“Go back to the bed and sit down unless you’d prefer to stay in this proximity with me all night.”
A shiver crawled through me.
“What time is it?” I asked softly. “How long was 1 out?”
“Hours” he said simply. “Which is why you need to eat. If you’d
step out of my way, ma’am. I’d get you something.”
Hours
The battle must have ended.
“Who won?” I asked.
“What do you think?” he replied.
The calmness on his face answered my question.
“No.” I whispered, my eyes widening. “Everyone from The Order is dead?”
Blake smiled. “Actually, they all ran for their lives. Turns out, you’re the only one who doesn’t value her own life.”
