Chapter 10
Camila was diagnosed with moderate depression and was sent abroad by the Dyson family for recovery.
We talked it over and decided not to press charges against her out of consideration for our relationship.
Now, the dorm was double room.
Melissa glared
at me
As soon as I got back, I flopped onto my bed. That familiar scent made me relax.
and snapped, “You big liar.”
“I didn’t lie to you,” I said.
Melissa scoffed, “You’re actually the daughter of the Hunter family. Your big brother is a legal tycoon, your second brother is a rising star
in medicine, and your third brother is the campus tyrant. And your former brother is a financial genius.
“You’ve been keeping all this well hidden, Ashley.”
I blinked, feigning innocence.
Their covers were blown. What was that got to do with me?
“Let’s go grab a bite,” I said to Melissa, changing the subject.
As soon as we stepped out of the dorm building, Dennis suddenly popped up in front of me with a big grin. “Ash, I’ve got some juicy gossip for you. Interested?”
I raised my eyebrows. “Go ahead.”
Dennis let out a scornful laugh and said, “Dad’s mistress accused me of slipping her abortion meds and killing off Dad’s little heir. You know what? Dad just dumped her.”
Melissa’s eyes sparkled with gossipy excitement. “Why?”
I patted her on the shoulder and whispered, “The old man got the
snip ages ago.
Melissa froze, her mouth agape.
Dennis tagged along behind us, almost laughing his head off.
I smirked and caught a glimpse of a figure leaning on a
cane.
Shane limped over with an awkward expression and asked, “Hey,” can I join you for lunch?”
I raised my eyebrows and nodded. “Sure,
, come
on.”
