Chapter 28

Amber found it laughable, turning to look at him. “We’re about to divorce. You’re just refusing to sign the papers. We’ve been married three years, barely spending time together. You’ve mostly been out with Victoria. Since you can’t bear to leave her, I’m making way for her. Shouldn’t you be happy?”

Blake pulled her close with one swift movement. “Are you jealous?”

Since Amber’s hysterical arguments with him three years ago, this had always been his attitude. He never directly addressed their conflicts, even seeming to enjoy witnessing her loss of control, her madness.

Amber was exhausted, with no energy left to argue.

“Blake, even if you sleep with her until the bed breaks, it’s none of my business. I just want a divorce.”

As soon as the words left her mouth, her chin exploded with intense pain.

Devon had already left the front seat, leaving only the two of them in the car.

Blake’s eyes held an impending storm as if he couldn’t believe these words came from her.

He gripped her throat, but noticing her reddening eyes, gradually released his hold. “When I came home late from business meetings, you’d sniff my clothes ike a dog, terrified of smelling another woman’s perfume. You watched me so closely then. Now you say things like this? What, so eager for divorce now?

Hmm?”

Though he was smiling, his eyes held no mirth, emotions churning with hatred mixed in.

Amber found it strange-what right did Blake have to hate her?

He had abandoned her at River Haven for three years, kept someone at Pine Creek Estate, and even gallivanted around with Victoria. She, his nominal wife, had become the laughingstock of the entire city. Everyone called her a villain, yet she should have been the one most entitled to everything!

he laughed, trying to back away, but Blake suddenly pinned her to the seat.

You want divorce to be with someone else? Dream on! Amber, even if you die, you’re staying tied to me!”

le ruthlessly began tugging at her pants.

Amber arched like a dying swan, her neck extended, tears streaming down in large drops.

In her coming-of-age night, she had given herself to Blake. He had been too concerned about hurting her to do much. He had only dared to gently kiss her lips.

both had been curious about such things then. Though she was willing to give herself, he feared hurting her, so they had just held each other all night in that

heap rental.

Now, wealthy and powerful, what he gave her was this kind of pain, bone-deep pain. She wanted to carve out her heart so she wouldn’t feel anything anymore.

When was the last time they had been intimate? Amber couldn’t remember.

Ier body hadn’t been touched by anyone for at least three years.

Blake’s hand fell to her waist, noticing she was even more tense than during their first time. His tone softened slightly.

‘Relax.”

Pinned to the seat, how could Amber relax? Tears continued to flow heavily.

Blake grew frustrated-frustrated with her cluelessness, more frustrated with himself for being so affected by a few tears.

He pulled her up onto his lap, one hand patiently soothing her trembling back.

But Amber wouldn’t cooperate, struggling even more.

Chapter 28

He clenched his teeth, sweat beading on his forehead as he leaned back.

“Is it that you don’t want to be with me, or that it’s been too long?”

He seemed surprised. If she had recent experience, she wouldn’t be in this state.

Taking a deep breath, he buried his head in the crook of her neck. “Amber, does it hurt?”

Amber’s mind could no longer process his words. She simply fainted.

*Amber!”

Blake cursed, quickly fixing her clothes and carrying her into the house.

Jackson was summoned and found Amber lying pale-faced on the bed. His brow furrowed slightly. “What exactly is wrong with her?”
