Chapter 19
But Ayliana tried her best to play it cool and kept chatting with Glenn.
Meanwhile, a sleek black Rolls–Royce glided into the Bronson residence. The shiny black car sparkled in the sunlight as it rolled down the tree–lined drive, looking right at home with the estate’s grandeur.
in the back seat of the car, Quinton Bronson was poring over some papers and sipping on a strong coffee. He had this icy, noble vibe, and being around him was enough to make anyone’s nerves jangle.
Dylan Zamora, the doctor for Glenn, felt the natural pressure rolling off Quinton every time they hit up the mansion together. It left him tongue–tied, practically making him gulp down his jitters.
Finally, Quinton wrapped up with the paperwork, set the folder aside, and shot a question at Dylan, his voice dripping with authority. “Any change in my grandfather’s health these past few days?”
The moment Quinton opened his mouth, it felt like the temperature dropped, putting Dylan on edge. “Mr. Glenn Bronson… Well, there’s no huge leap forward, but we’ve kept things steady for now. If he sticks with the treatment, it should at least… hold the line.”
Everyone knew that Quinton, the young master of the Bronson family, was as cold as ice and ruthless, with zero tolerance for lies or excuses. Cross him, and people could kiss their days in Janivelle goodbye.
So, even though Dylan was Janivelle’s top internist and usually acted high and mighty, in front of Quinton, he could only nod respectfully and kept his voice down.
“Oh? Just holding the line?” Quinton’s eyebrows pinched, his cool drawl enough to make Dylan break into a sweat.
“Uh, truth is, Mr. Glenn Bronson seems reluctant to keep with the treatment. I suspect he might not be taking his meds right, so Mr. Bronson, you might need to put in some effort to get him back on track.
“If he plays ball, he’ll bounce back quicker,” Dylan stammered out, trying to make excuses.
Quinton’s face clouded over. Even for a decision–maker like him, dealing with Glenn’s stubbornness was a puzzle. No progress after days of treatment was a clear sign Glenn was throwing in the towel.
Dylan was the best doctor in the country. Quinton was trying to get ahold of some mysterious foreign doctor, but no luck yet. For now, he had to find a way to get Glenn to work with Dylan, at least until they could find someone who could really fix Glenn.
Glenn gaze on Dylan was as sharp as a knife. “I can talk to him, but your team better up their game. If all you’re doing is treading water, I don’t see why we should keep funding your hospital this year.”
Quinton’s voice was as cold as a winter breeze, making Dylan shiver. He quickly agreed, “Got it! I’ll round up the team for a meeting the second I get back
today.”
Truth was, Dylan was already in meetings every day, searching for a better approach for Glenn. But so far, no luck. All he could do was beg Quinton for a little more time.
Quinton didn’t give Dylan the time of day, lazily shifting his gaze to the window. Just then, his car rolled to a stop at the main gate of his crib.
The butler hurried over to open the door, all respectful–like. Quinton stepped out, cool as a cucumber, and headed into the house, Dylan in tow.
In the living room, Glenn was sipping his coffee. Hearing footsteps, he checked the time and figured it must be Quinton. He turned to Xyliana and said, “Quinton’s back.”
Xyliana’s eyes sparkled, her gaze darting to the door, hoping against hope for Quinton to show up.
The next moment, Quinton walked in. Sunlight from the big windows hit him, giving him this halo effect that made him almost blindingly bright. His cool. skin and sharp features, paired with his 6’1” frame, exuded this natural elegance.

Chapter 19
Everything about Quiaton had Xyliana’s heart racing. Even Sophia, who was standing by, was momentarily starstruck but quickly snapped back and subtly nudged Xyliana to do the same.
Only then did Ayliana get her head in the game. Filled with excitement, she jumped up with a smile to greet Quinton, saying, “Quinton, you’re back!”
Quinton glanced at Ayliana, a slight frown on his face. He casually replied with a single word, “Yeah.”
Without a second look, he brushed past her towards Glenn, asking, “Grandpa, you feeling better today?” He was just here to check on his grandpa, he wasn’t interested in anyone else.
“Much better, actually. Ayliana came by, and our chat perked me up more than usual,” Glenn said, noticing Quinton’s cold shoulder towards Xyliana but still took the chance to give her a compliment.
When Quinton heard that Glenn had been chatting with Xyliana, he felt a bit ticked off. Considering Glenn’s fragility, it wasn’t a good idea for him to chat too much, yet Ayliana still came to bother him.
However, seeing Glenn in high spirits did soften Quinton a bit, despite his annoyance. Quinton spoke with gentle firmness. “Grandpa, you should head upstairs and rest. Dylan’s here for your check–up.”
Glenn wasn’t thrilled to hear about Dylan and brushed off Quinton’s words, steering the chat back to Quinton. “You shouldn’t be so wrapped up in me all the time. Focus on yourself for a change! You’re not getting any younger, and it’s about time you thought about settling down.
“You’ve been buried in work–haven’t seen Xyliana in forever, have you? Well, she’s here now. Why don’t you take her out, have some fun? No need to stick around with me. I can head upstairs with the doc on my own.”
“Not happening,” Quinton shot back, firm as a rock. “I need to check in on you every day.” He was up to his eyeballs in work, and if it weren’t for Glenn’s health, he wouldn’t be here. Right now, he had zero patience for dealing with Xyliana.
Knowing Quinton was stubborn, Glenn didn’t give him another chance to object. Without even looking his way, Glenn turned to Xyliana. “Xyliana, it just so happens Quinton’s got the day off. Let him take you out for a bite. You got plans?”
Xyliana beamed and replied, “No worries, I’m all clear today. I’d love to spend more time with Quinton.”
“That’s the spirit, you two go have a blast. Don’t mind this old–timer,” Glenn waved them off, giving Quinton the look that said “get going“.
“Mr. Bronson, I’ll come back another day to keep you company. See you,” Xyliana chirped, thrilled that Glenn was trying to play matchmaker.
With Glenn pushing him, Quinton’s mood darkened. But after a moment, to everyone’s surprise, he didn’t argue Instead, he turned to Dylan and said, “Carry on with the check–up.”
“You got it.” Dylan nodded, diving straight into examining Glenn.
Quinton then looked at Xyliana, his gaze heavy with meaning. “Let’s roll.”
Even though it was just two words, Xyliana took it to heart. She was already daydreaming about their dinner together. Just the thought had her on cloud
nine.
Watching Quinton stand there, tall and imposing, she felt a surge of joy, like they were about to apply for a marriage license–not just grab a meal.
