Chapter 8
Hearing my words, Ronan stood frozen in place:
The next second he grabbed my wrist and forcefully pulled me into his arms.
His voice choked with emotion: “Lyra, there has to be a future for us. You said you’d love me forever.”
“We can have a pup. Our family of three would be so happy…”
Hearing him say this, I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Ronan, do you remember?”
“You said a pup that the Alpha doesn’t want would only be born to suffer, right?”
“Now you say you want a pup with me, but when you were secretly replacing my antidepressants with birth control, did you ever think that as a she–wolf, I might want a pup too?”
“When you were writing another woman’s name over and over in your office, did you ever think about how much
that would hurt me?”
If apologies actually worked, would past wounds just disappear?
Hearing my words, Ronan’s face turned ashen, his expression frightening.
He stepped closer, desperate and pleading
“Even if I committed the worst sins, you didn’t have to fake your death to leave me.”
Seeing my cold, silent expression, Ronan continued talking to himself: “Lyra, do you know how much I’ve suffered this whole time? Do you know how guilty I feel, how much I regret it? I almost… I almost jumped into the river to
join you.”
He desperately tried to prove his devotion, showing me the scars covering his body.
I snorted coldly: “What’s wrong, former Alpha Cross? Are you trying to guilt–trip me?”
“Everything you’re doing now is your own choice. It has nothing to do with me.”
“Just like how you could have investigated the truth before, but chose to believe Mira instead.”
“Just like how you could have told me you didn’t want pups, but instead watched me drink herbal medicine and visit the pack healer over and over.”
“The choices you made, the consequences you face–handle them yourself. Don’t make me lose respect for you.”
I didn’t want to waste any more words on the man in front of me.

Chapter 8
In my free time, I’d take my husky on travels around the world.”
Just the two of us explored countless places across the globe, witnessing breathtaking scenery I’d never forget. The days were bright and warm.
I left all the past behind me. The bright future ahead was the path I needed to walk.
Now I no longer feared or craved anyone else’s love.
I’d buy myself flowers, get my favorite cake the moment I craved it, and drive out to watch the northern lights whenever I wanted to see the stars.
I truly loved myself, and my dog loved me too.
It turns out that after learning to love yourself, the whole world becomes warm.
