I would be lying if I said things got worse because of Patricia’s return. I mean, things got bad when she left; maybe her return would make everything go back to normal, and by normall mean Logan being obsessed with me just like when he was married to her.
I’ve worked so hard to be here, and I was not going to lose it, not when I had sacrificed everything
including my morals.
After seeing Patricia, I noticed how Logan’s mood suddenly changed. I could tell how much he desired her, as years ago he looked at me the same way. He looked at me the same way when he was with my twin sister, but my poor sister was too naive to see, but I wasn’t. Knowing Logan for about ten years, I knew how his mind operated, so I knew what he was thinking.
But I also knew letting him know I knew I would make him open to those dirty thoughts; that’s why I pretended not to notice even when on the road, he
almost drove us somewhere else.
When we reached home, I got to work; it was difficult, especially knowing he wished I was someone else, but he kept himself from calling me her name again. That’s why I endured it. What do we do for love, right? Well, jokes on you. This was about money and my life. They made it clear that if Logan left me, I would be as good as dead, and I knew better than to mess with them.
The next morning, I woke up and made breakfast. Well, I had to watch a tutorial on YouTube, but I was able to bake cupcakes. When Logan came down, he refused to eat, and I didn’t want to push him as I needed him more than ever.
I was going to have breakfast by myself when my phone started ringing. Picking up, I heard the same voice, the voice that has started haunting me now.
They threatened, saying Logan went to see his ex–wife. Well, I knew that, but what was I supposed to do? But hearing the threats, I quickly ran upstairs and searched for my gun. I stole it from them a few days ago as I wanted to end Patricia’s life. I mean, finding out she was now working with Logan, I couldn’t risk that, but today I made a decision: I was going to end both of them.
I changed my clothes, and when I was done, I hastily placed things in my handbag. I was going to put the gun in when my phone rang; it was them.
With shaky hands, I picked up.
I was told they knew what I was about to do and asked me to not think about it as they needed Logan alive, and surprisingly, they also needed Patricia alive for the time being. Well, this was honestly confusing. I mean, I understood the need for Logan to be alive, but Patricia? Crazy right? Well, I didn’t question as I did as they instructed me.
Taking Logan’s suit jacket and following him there.
Things turned out ugly as I found out Patricia had a son… Logan’s son.
If I was scared before about losing Logan, I was now even more scared because knowing him, he would use it as an excuse to be with her.
I was putting my thoughts together; I had to come up with ways to keep Logan and Patricia apart even with that bastard boy involved. Patricia didn’t clearly want Logan in the bastard’s life, so maybe I would have to work with her.
With that thought, I left whatever I was doing–I was trying to cook for Logan the weird dish he requested, and I will be honest, I had no idea.
After drying my hands, I took my phone and headed out. Entering the car, I drove away, and when I was on the road, I called them. They always help me with my schemes, so if there was anyone who could help me with this, then it was them.
“If it’s not good news, then hang up.”
“I need a favor.”
“I’m tired of doing you favors when you’re not succeeding.”
“I will succeed; I promise you this time.”

“What do you want?”
“You know how Logan went to look for her, right?”
“I’m not your friend, Irene; you work for me, so you don’t come up with silly questions.”
“I’m sorry for that. Yes, so Logan found out that she has a son, their son.”
“Fuck! How the hell did you let that happen?”
“Logan is a grown man; he’s very difficult to keep up with. I didn’t–”
“You will get a job at Logan’s company so you can be with him twenty–four–seven, just like you did years ago. We didn’t have problems back then, did
we?”
“That was because Logan was madly in love with me.”
“Wow, great, that means you’re useless to him now. Good, I’ll have my man take care of the job. It was-”
“Please don’t kill me; I am still useful.”
“Oh really?”
“I’m pregnant… with Logan’s baby.”
What?”
“I saw how he got; I can use this baby to keep Logan; I can get him to do what you want,” I begged; I really had to save my life. I could feel them giving it a long thought; I don’t know why I got involved with them; they were dangerous and would eliminate me the second I became useless.
“Are you sure?”
“I am. Keeping Patricia and Logan apart would make me win back his heart, especially with this baby and if they hate each other.” I assured them.
“You are right, fine, what do you want?”
“The contract Patricia and Logan signed.”
“We don’t have access to that.”
“I know you do; you just have to type in some numbers, and you can literally get into any computer in America and get yourself a copy of the contract,” I said before explaining my plan and how in the contract it was stated that they shouldn’t have children and so on.
“So you’re saying you will be helping Patricia?”
“That’s what she will think; she looked too desperate, and I know this can do it.”
“Fine, we will work on that, and it better work out, now about the pregnancy-”
“I’m on my way to the hospital to get the results.”
“So you’re not sure you’re pregnant?”
“I am. I took tests at home, but I wanted it written on a paper for Logan. I know how much he likes proof.” I said with a smile on my lips, I didn’t realize i was parked alongside the road.
“You’re smart.”
“I am, and trust me, I will not disappoint you. I will be Logan’s wife for as long as you want me to be, and this baby will be his first heir.” I confidently said
