Chapter 62
-EMY-
“Mrs. Reign,” my maid says as she knocks on my office door. “Mimes Lloyd is here to see you.”
Ive been eagerly anticipating his arrival ever since I got back home from that dinner, feeling both disappointed and shocked that my son chose to le me and his future wife behind
I was in the process of hiring a private investigator to keep tabs on my son and provide me with live updates
I needed to find out who this new gel was that had suddenly caught his eye.
Once I discovered her identity, I would do whatever it took to remove her from his life. My plans for his future were set, and they all revolved around Jada. She was the perfect match for him; there was no room for anyone else. I refused to make a mistake about the woman he was meant to spend the rest of his life with.
“Please, send him in instructed the maid, bracing myself for our conversation. I knew that if Apollo ever found out what I was doing, he would be disappointed in me. That was why I had to be very careful with my actions from now on
As soon as he entered, I felt reassured that I had made the right choice in hiring him. He was dressed for business and looked ready to tackle the task at
“What can I do for you, Mrs. Reign?” he asks as he placed an envelope on my desk
“What’s this?” inquires, eyeing the envelope
“I need you to fill out the form inside,” he explains. “There are a few details I need from you to get started.”
Nodding, I pulled the pages from the envelope. “I need you to keep an eye on my son. I suspect he’s seeing a woman he’s trying to keep sacred from the family. I want to know everything about her–her name, pictures, her family background. I want it all
He then requested, “I’ll also need pictures of your son and details about his current location. You can put them in the envelope. Rest assured, everything will be kept strictly confidential”
I narrow my eyes, “It’s critical that he never finds out you’re following him. I don’t want anything tracing back to me. He must never know I hired you.”
He nods confidently. “Don’t worry, I always handle my cases discreetly. No one has ever caught me.”
I believed him. After conducting thorough research and asking around, I was sure I had chosen the right man for this job.
Once I gathered everything he needed for this covert operation, escorted him to the door I did not want anyone to catch me having dealings with him.
Thank you for choosing me,” he says appreciatively. “It’s an honor to serve you.”
Ismile. “If you do a good job finding this woman, nl be more than happy to offer you a considerable bonus.”
Hegrins. “Then make sure to deliver, Mrs. Reign. Have a good evening”
As closed the door behind him, I turned to find my daughter Toya standing there with a suspicious expression.
How much had she overheard? Toya was very close to her brother and spoke to him several times a week. I couldn’t let her slip anything to him about what she had just seen.
“Who was that man?” she asks, her brow furrowed. “I’ve never seen him around before.”
I force a smile, trying not to arouse her suspicion further “Just someone I’m planning to do business with it wasn’t a be–this was personal la

She frowns. “Then why did you tell him to do a good job at finding sonic woman?”
“Darling, I think you might have misheard,” I replied, attempting to reassure her. “We were just joking, and you probably caught the wrong end of the conversation”
Although she didn’t look convinced, she dropped the subject without probing further, but I could tell something else was troubling her.
“Is there anything else you want to ask me? I led her toward the Eving room
“Did you say something to Apollo?” she asks cautiously. “He never leaves without saying goodbye to me.”
It was true. My son usually made a point to bid us both farewell My daughter’s observation confirmed my suspicion that something was off with him, and she seemed to think it was my fault.
“No, I didn’t,” I answer. “It looks like your brother has more pressing matters to deal with in his life lately.”
Tomy
my surprise, she didn’t react in shock; it was as if she know something I didn’t.
“Did he say something to you?” I ask, trying not to show my cagemess for the answer.
Her eyes narrows in caution. “No.
I wasn’t sure if she was being truthful
“Are you sure?” press, hoping to coax the truth out of her
She shook her head. “Why do you ask?”
I sigh, “it’s nothing important. I’m just worried about your brother. He’s changing”
She bit her lip, then observed, “Maybe he just wants the chance to live his own life.”
frown. “What do you mean by that. Toya Lask. “Your brother has been living life on his own terms all along. He chose to live with your father instead of with me like I wanted. I let him do exactly what he wanted.”
She shrugs. “He looks unhappy
Inarrow my eyes, “That’s because he’s living with your father and that woman. Being around her children must be tough for him. It’s understandable why he feels that way. Once he moves back here and marries Jada, he will be happy again.”
if Apollo had taken my advice from the very beginning, he would be much happier now. He should have listened to me. I always know what’s best for
him.
I’m ready to set things right. Everything will be back on track, and I’ll have my son by my side again once I get rid of whoever is coming between us
