-LANA-
“You look absolutely stunning,” Isabella teases with a mock male voice, clearly trying to imitate Apollo
Inarrow my eyes at her. “Can you stop?”
“Someone has to lighten the mood,” she retorts. “Tknow the last thing you want to see is your mate with another woman, but it really bothers me to you like this. I just want to see you smile like you used to before all of this happened.”
I wish it were that simple.
“I can try to fake a smile for you.” I suggest.
She rolls her eyes at me. “You know that’s not what I mean”
Isigh. “I can’t believe Apollo is actually going through with this after everything we’ve been through together.”
It feels like I’ve been played by the one person who was supposed to love and cherish me most in this world.
Isabella takes my hand and leads me out of the bathroom. “Come on. We’re running late for dinner, and we don’t want mom banging on the door. Plus, you look incredible! Our stepbrother is going to freak out when he sees you. We need to make him regret ever agreeing to marry someone else while you’re around.”
She finally manages to bring a
a smile to my face, and I can’t help but chuckle at her triumphant expression
As soon as we step outside, we find Apollo’s mother and Jada right there. I’m a little surprised to see them just standing there.
Were they eavesdropping on us
I quickly push that thought away when I see how beautiful Jada looks in her embellished silver and white dress. It feels like she has changed outfits a hundred times today and every single one of them suited her perfectly.
“We’re quite late, dinner reservations were supposed to be at sewn Apollo’s mother complains, giving me a disapproving glare as if I were to blame for the delay. “Fortunately, my son is marrying a woman who actually understands the concept of punctuality”
Wasn’t the reservation for eight? At least that’s what i was told if I’d known, I would have started getting ready much earlier.
isabella raises her brows and loo at me as we watch Jada and Apollo’s mom walk away.
“What was that all about?” task
“She definitely doesn’t like you” Habella says with a faint smila.
I give her a puzzled look. “What’s so funny about that!”
Why does she always find amusement at my experi
“Well, dear sister” she says, wiggling her eyebrows, “Apollo’s mother is going to have a tough time when she finds her son is marrying you
troll my eyes. “You’re delusional
“Am 17” she counters. “I have a feeling be proven right by the end of this.”
I decide to ignore Isabella’s words before she gets my hopes up for something unlikely.
“There you gitis are,” my mother calls out as she spots us from the stairs. “Apollo’s mother is having a bit of a meltdown because we’re not moving

For some reason, this only makes me want to move slower. What was the point of nothing

“Hurry it up,” she adds when Isabella and I continue to meander down the hall.

I have enough to deal with at that dinner, which I’m sure is going to be a
Isabella chatters away the whole drive to the restaurant, making me feel like I’m in a car with a talking parrot.
As we pull into the parking lot, my heart sinks at how beautifully everything is set up outside. There are bouquets of carpet leading into the building.
“She’s one lucky girl,” I whisper.
Isabella rolls her eyes. “Lucky girl? Please. Apollo doesn’t want her. He wants you.”
1 force a smile. “I guess that’s why she’s the one he’s marrying, right?”
I hop out of the car before she can respond. The dinner is on the rooftop of the building, and I can’t see much from down here.
“If the front of the building looks this amazing, I can’t wait to see the top,” Isabella murmurs.
stands and even a red
Everyone else had already arrived, meaning our entrance might be awkward. I hated walking into a room when everyone was already seated.
Isabella links her arm through mine and gently pulls me toward the elevator. I can feel the nervousness begin to seep in.
“Now remember, don’t let his mother get to you, isabella reminds me. “The only reason she treats you like this is that she sees you as a threat.”
Why would she consider me a threat if she didn’t know about Apolld and me? That didn’t make any sense to me but I guess the average person, She had a different way about her.
Apollo’s mother wasn’t like
The moment we step off the elevator, all eyes are on us, but I only have eyes for my stepbrother. His jaw tightens as soon as he sees me, and I swear catch him glaring at the water for lingering too long on my legs
Isabella guides me to a seat, as it felt like my feet were glued to the floor just moments ago
“You two are going to give me such beautiful grandchildren,” Apollo’s mother declares out of nowhere.
My heart instantly drops at her words.
