Chapter 25 | Made Him Angry
I carefully examined the list, which contained several names. After a quick screening, there were still six or seven suspects left. These individuals were all, without exception, business tycoons. Each one had potential motives, and I could only investigate them one by one. This wasn’t going to be easy.
I took a deep breath, and suddenly a bold thought crossed my mind.
‘Could it be that Cadell only wants to hand me over to one person? Otherwise, why would he gather so many people? Among these individuals, could there be an industry chain I don’t know about?’
I took another deep breath and couldn’t help but think of the blurry surveillance footage. Were those women, confined like animals, the link between Cadell and these tycoons? The moment this thought surfaced, my heart skipped a beat. I had a strong feeling that the truth might actually be just like this.
T
A chill ran through my body. If that was the case, then Cadell was even more despicable than I imagined! I would never let him get away with it!
But right now, without solid evidence, I couldn’t achieve my goal. I would have to take it one step at a time and make Cadell
suffer a bit first
I put the list away, shaking off the embarrassment from my moment of clarity, and gradually regained my composure. It was then that I remembered, the juice Cadell had drugged earlier that day was still with Cyril. That was important evidence.
I regretted being in such a hurry earlier. Now going to find Cyril felt a little awkward. I forced myself to calm down, mentally prepared myself, then grit my teeth and called Cyril.
I thought he would still be asleep and might not answer the phone right away. However, the phone was picked up in less than
five seconds.
Cyril’s familiar lazy, raspy voice came through. Didn’t you just leave after finishing? What made you remember to call me again? Is the d**g still working? Want to go for another round?:
The defense I had prepared in my mind instantly collapsed. That shameless rascal….
I didn’t engage with his teasing, quickly changing the topic, “Cyril, do you still have the juice Cadell drugged me with? I need it as evidence to report to the police.”
As I said this, I felt a bit uneasy. If Cyril continued to joke about today’s events, I wouldn’t know how to respond. Luckily, he didn’t. He gave a soft laugh and said, “You specifically asked me to keep it. How could I forget? Do you want me to bring it over?”
I sighed in relief, but then hesitated again. Cyril coming to deliver it? Honestly wasn’t ready to see him just yet. But since he said it like that, refusing would feel inappropriate.
I could only reply quietly, “Yes please.”
Cyril seemed to notice my hesitation, I could hear his low chuckle, tinged with a hint of teasing. It reminded me of what happened earlier that day–how he had leaned close to my ear, using his deep, sensual voice to coax me into saying
embarrassing things, even making me beg him to go harder, or else he would purposely torment me.
Just thinking about it made my ears flush, and I couldn’t help but pinch them, feeling how hot they were.
How did I not notice before how wicked Cyril could be? I’d been deceived by his calm and restrained exterior!
But then again, if he truly were a gentleman, why would he tempt me in the car, making me see him as some kind of antidote?
Forget it. It was just a brief fing. For adults, it’s perfectly normal. Since it’s already happened, there’s no need to overthink it‘
At this thought, my mood calmed down a little.
Cyril was faster than I expected. In less than half an hour, he knocked on my door.
I opened the door, and the first thing I saw was a beautiful bouquet of roses.
The roses were carefully trimmed, looking particularly stunning.
I even noticed a few golden roses in the middle of the bouquet. While not particularly expensive, they had a thoughtful touch to

them.
I looked up, and Cyril was standing behind the bouquet, smiling at me.
My heart involuntarily skipped a beat. Perhaps it was because of the memories of our past intimacy, or for some other reason, I felt my blood flowing rapidly through my veins.
I shifted my gaze away, trying to calm myself, and then smiled at Cyril, saying, “You brought me these flowers to thank me for being your antidote, right? Cyril, there’s no need to go over the top. We’re just helping each other out, each getting what we
need.”
Cyril’s smile faded slightly. He chuckled helplessly, saying, “Aurora, you really want to distance yourself from me.”
I didn’t respond. To be honest, after going through a failed relationship, I didn’t want to have much contact with any man. If Cadell hadn’t drugged me and I hadn’t needed someone’s help, I absolutely wouldn’t have let anything happen with Cyril. Despite Cadell’s betrayal, I had been truly in love during the seven years I had been with him. It would be unrealistic for me to just walk away without hesitation after being betrayed and jump straight into another relationship.
I did want to keep my distance from Cyril, so I deliberately reminded him that we were just collaborators. Even though something more intimate happened, it was merely an accident. I didn’t want our dynamic to change.
But I didn’t expect Cyril to directly address the issue.
I raised an eyebrow, looking at him. “What’s the point of distancing ourselves? Our collaboration is solid enough, it doesn’t need a bouquet of flowers to hold it together.”
Cyril’s gaze grew deeper, and he stared at me. Whether it was my imagination or not, his gaze were like a fierce beast, eyeing its prey, certain it would be caught.
His presence was so intense that I couldn’t help but look away. “Cyril, where’s that juice? I need that more.”
He lowered his eyes, chuckling softly, then suddenly leaned in closer to me.
Instinctively, I took a step back, my back hitting the cold wall. But in front of me was the heat of his body, and the stark contrast
made me shiver.
Cyril leaned down to look at me, his eyes filled with an aggressive intent, as though my words had angered him.
