Chapter 34 Cadell Owes Me an Apology!
Since he didn’t know my address, he had no choice but to call me.
When I picked up, I heard him say, “Aurora, I’ve learned about what happened with Cadell. I feel terribly sorry about it. I’ve already given him a stern talking–to. He’s still young and immature–please, don’t hold it against
him.”
Hearing him make excuses for Cadell, I couldn’t help but let out a mocking laugh. “Young? Charles, if I
remember correctly, he’s a year older than me, isn’t he?”
Charles was silent for a moment, then sighed. “Yes, I almost forgot–Cadell is already 25. Please forgive my mistake. It’s just that, in my eyes, he’s always been as childish as a little boy.”
I didn’t reply. Childish? If he were truly that immature, why make him the heir?
Charles really knew how to spin nonsense.
I replied with a cold smile, “If that’s all you have to say, then there’s nothing left to discuss. I have no intention of forgiving him.”
Charles sighed helplessly. “Aurora, I know you’ve been wronged, but you and Cadell have seven years of
history. There’s no need to make it so ugly.”
I replied sarcastically, “I’m the one who’s been wronged. No one has the right to tell me to forgive.”
Charles took a deep breath and, after steadying himself, said gently, “I understand how deeply you’ve been hurt. What Cadell did was unfair to you. That’s why I’d like to invite you to dinner to talk about how I can make it up to you. After all, you’ve called me Grandpa for seven years, and I’ve always treated you as my
granddaughter.”
He sounded so earnest, but I didn’t believe a word of it.
Still, I didn’t refuse him. I needed to use Charles too.
So I said flatly, “Then please teach your grandson some manners. If he’s going to apologize, he’d better do it
sincerely.”
Charles seemed relieved and quickly said, “Rest assured. I’ll make sure he understands.”
I murmured an acknowledgment and said nothing more.
As if afraid I’d change my mind, Charles immediately set a time for lunch that very day. I wanted to get it over with quickly, so I agreed. Quietly, I also informed Cyril, just in case Charles tried to turn things around and
threaten me.
After all, who else could protect me better than Knightfall Group? I couldn’t think of anyone.
Once I’d made the arrangements, I headed to the meeting.
When I arrived, both Charles and Cadell were already waiting.
Cadell had a swollen red slap mark on his face. His gaze was filled with resentment and mixed emotions as
he stared at me intently.
I couldn’t help but smile to myself. Judging by his face, he must have been severely reprimanded by Charles.

As I approached, Charles smiled warmly and stepped forward. “Aurora, long time no see.”
Given Charles‘ cordial attitude, I couldn’t show any anger.
So I smiled back and said, “Long time no see, Charles.”
Charles said with a hint of complaint, “I preferred it when you called me Grandpa.”
થવાને કાર છે.
I raised an eyebrow, puzzled. What did he mean by that? Did he still hope to arrange a marriage between
Cadell and me?
I replied evenly, “Things are different now. Cadell and I are no longer a couple. It’s not appropriate for me to call you Grandpa anymore.”
Charles‘ smile froze briefly before he sighed. “You’re right. But Aurora, I still hope you can become my granddaughter–in–law.”
I didn’t respond. Internally, I sneered.
‘Hope I become his granddaughter–in–law? What a joke. He just doesn’t want my shares to end up in someone else’s hands! Why come up with such a noble–sounding reason? Does he really think no one can see through
his motives?’
Perhaps noticing the sarcasm in my eyes, Charles‘ expression darkened slightly. But he quickly moved past it and smiled, motioning me to sit down.
Too tired to keep up appearances, I sat down immediately.
Cadell hesitated and then sat down next to me.
I couldn’t stand it. I got up and moved to another seat.
Seeing my obvious displeasure, Cadell’s face darkened further, and he clenched his teeth.
I didn’t care about how he was feeling. I just adjusted my clothes and ignored him entirely.
Then I heard Cadell speaking in a voice filled with humiliation. “Aurora, everything before was my fault. I
couldn’t resist temptation and ended up hurting you. After reflecting these past few days, I’ve realized that I still love you. Aurora, can you give me another chance?”
He sounded sincere. If I hadn’t seen the hatred in his eyes myself, hadn’t heard the things he said while cheating with Lorna, and hadn’t known that he’d plotted to hand me over to someone else, perhaps I might
have believed him, at least a little.
But now, Cadell’s words hold no credibility for me–only absurdity.
A few days ago, Cadell had been boasting and posturing in front of me, and now he’s here, bowing his head in apology. Could this be as torturous for him as it seems?
I gave a mocking laugh. “Your apology is just words?”
Cadell hesitated, his expression growing darker.
Disregarding how he felt, I leaned back in my chair and asked with a hint of amusement, “Have you paid off the money Lorna owes?”
That sentence struck Cadell like a needle to the heart. Everyone knew that the massive refunds for True Love
Ring had put Cadell in a financial bind.
