Chapter 41 1 Angered Cyril
Cyril drove me to a French restaurant. The amblance of the place was excellent, but the lighting and atmosphere were a little too sweet, likely for couples, making me feel slightly uneasy.
It seemed like our relationship was becoming more and more delicate.
After thinking for a moment, I spoke up, “What I said earlier was just to provoke Cadell. You don’t need to take
it seriously.”
The smile that had been hanging on Cyril’s lips seemed to stiffen for a brief second after my words.
A moment later, he raised his head and looked at me, his gaze carrying a hint of reproach.
I turned my eyes away, feeling a strange sense of guilt.
Was I acting like a jerk who had abandoned her lover? It seemed that way.
I lowered my head, feeling a bit awkward, and wanting to change the subject.
But before I could speak, Cyril asked first, “Aurora, you’re meeting Philip next Tuesday. Angering Cadell won’t
do you any good.”
I blinked slightly, knowing full well that this was true.
I had deliberately provoked Cadell to make him aware of my close relationship with Cyril. That way, he would suspect that I was planning to sell my shares to Cyril, threatening his position as the heir. Naturally, Cadell
would care about that.
This might even prompt him to inform Charles.
And Charles was not an easy person to deal with. Someone like him would not let me off because of the ties from years ago.
More likely, he would join forces with Philip to go after me.
And that was exactly my intention.
If I were just meeting Philip, it would be hard for me to gather useful information.
But if I could anger them and force Charles to act quickly, their true colors would be exposed.
Only then could I get closer to finding Sylvia’s whereabouts.
Even if today, Cadell didn’t notice my relationship with Cyril, I would make sure he knew.
I hadn’t planned to tell Cyril about the plan, but I remembered the sincere conversation we had, where he
expressed his genuine concern for me.
In the face of his earnest care, it seemed inappropriate to keep hiding things from him.
However, I couldn’t fully trust him. Sylvia’s case was my biggest secret.
I couldn’t easily share it with anyone, even though Cyril had been kind to me.
I couldn’t be sure if he had other motives for getting close to me. Until I trusted him completely, I wouldn’t reveal these matters.

Chapter 411 Angered Cyrd
I quietly thought for a few seconds, then looked up and said to him, “Cyril, I did provoke him on purpose. He
has something I need. This time when I meet Philip, I might run into some trouble. Considering that, maybe you shouldn’t come with me.”
As soon as I finished speaking, Cyril’s expression darkened, and then he let out a cold laugh, his smile chilling and his eyes frosty enough to make me shiver.
I rarely saw him like this. He narrowed his eyes dangerously, locking his gaze firmly on me, and exuded an
intense sense of aggression.
At that moment, I had an odd instinct–I had probably angered Cyril.
Sure enough, the next second, I heard a cold laugh.
Cyril stood up, staring at me with a furious intensity. Ignoring all etiquette, he placed his hand on my cheek and squeezed my chin. “Aurora, what do you take me for?”
Honestly, although I had seen many top–tier wealthy people, the aura that Cyril exuded at that moment still weighed heavily on me, making me feel like I couldn’t breathe. I found myself instinctively avoiding his gaze.
He was so angry that he started laughing, pinching my face, forcing me to look straight into his eyes.
He leaned in closer, close enough that I could smell the faint, cold scent on his body.
My heart raced. “Cyril, what are you going to do?”
“What am I going to do?” Cyril gritted his teeth and said, “I need to see what kind of person would hurtful words! I need to see how your mouth can utter every sentence that stabs at my heart!”

I didn’t expect him to get this angry, and I was at a loss for what to do. All I could do was avoid his gaze.
Cyril took a deep breath. “Aurora, do I look like someone who would abandon you over something trivial? If I were really scared, I would have stopped you from arguing with Cadell just now!”
Without a pause, he continued, “I’m telling you, I was worried you didn’t realize how serious this situation was, so I reminded you. And you said it was intentional–I have no objections. You know I said I’d be worried about you and stay with you, so of course, I will go. Do you think I would back down so easily?”
His series of questions left me a bit stunned, but I could hear the disappointment in his tone.
Indeed, if Cyril was truly afraid of trouble, he would have never sent me that email or joined me in confronting
Cadell.
But I wasn’t good at comforting people. I didn’t know how to respond to him, so I instinctively held his hand, gently rubbing his palm with my fingers.
For some reason, it seemed like Cyril relaxed in that instant. The sharpness in his eyes wasn’t as noticeable.
Seeing this, I spoke softly, “I didn’t mean it that way. I just worry that you’ll get caught up in the Hartman family’s grudges and end up suffering because of me.”
Cyril’s lips tightened slightly. I couldn’t tell what he was thinking, but I could feel that the hand that had been holding my cheek softened, as if he realized he had accidentally hurt me.
In fact, Cyril was always very considerate. Even when angry, the force he applied to my face was never too
harsh. It didn’t hurt.
Just as I was lost in my thoughts, Cyril suddenly spoke, looking at me seriously, “Aurora, I just want to protect

you. Nothing else.”
Those simple words made my heart race wildly.

Our relationship seemed to be getting more complicated. Was it because of that unexpected night together
that we had developed a certain possessiveness toward each other?
Was that why we seemed to be getting closer and closer without even realizing it?
