Chapter 61 The Woman by Cyril’s Side

I steadied my breath, just about to speak, when I caught sight of the scene on Cyril’s end

It seemed he was in a bar, the space shrouded in a dim, Intimate atmosphere. Soft lighting cast across his face, softening the sharpness of his features and adding an unexpected gentleness to his expression

1 froze for a moment, unable to look away

He was looking at me as well, his eyes shimmering with a hint of water, his gaze almost dreamy

He appeared to have had a fair amount to drink, the corners of his eyes tinged with redness, a clear intoxication in his gaze

At that moment, he looked especially captivating

Like being jolted by electricity, I quickly averted my eyes, my heart racing

A teasing voice from Cyril drifted into my ear. Why aren’t you looking at me? Didn’t you call because you

missed me?”

Without thinking, I glanced up, only to see him grinning mischievously, his eyes locking with mine

Even through the phone, it felt like I could feel his scorching gaze, a wave of heat spreading through me

I cleared my throat, nervously searching for an excuse, unwilling to admit I really did miss him

But before I could speak, a delicate hand suddenly pressed against Cyril’s chest, sensually caressing his Adam’s apple

I could even hear the girl’s soft, seductive voice. Cyril, why aren’t you drinking? Don’t answer the phone, you

should focus on me.”

I was instantly stunned

Her words were so suggestive, and they instantly dulled the warmth that had been rising in me under the night’s embrace. I stared at Cyril in silence. Could she be his girlfriend

The thought flashed through my mind, and I couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment

If he had a girlfriend, why was he still entangled with me

Why did he always say such vague, flirtatious things to me

I couldn’t help but feel a bit ridiculous

Cyril had only posted a few comments defending me on social media, something so simple for him. It could even help him gain some of my favorwhy wouldn’t he do it

And yet, I was touched by it, and even called him without realizing it. Wasn’t that a bit absurd

Looking at Cyril, it was clear he hadn’t taken any of this to heart

Maybe all of this was just my wishful thinking

Suddenly, I recalled the time when Cyril had been my antidote, and a wave of annoyance swept over me

At this moment, I almost felt relieved that, after everything with Cadell, I had become more wary of romantic

feelings. If I had really started to develop feelings for Cyril, I would probably feel devastated right now

I quickly calmed myself and reestablished my understanding of my relationship with Cyril. It’s nothing, just some workrelated matters I wanted to discuss with you. If you’re too busy, I’ll just hang up. I don’t want to disturb you.”

As soon as I finished speaking, Cyril replied, Walt, don’t hang up.”

I hesitated for a moment, deciding to see what he would say next..

When I looked up at him, I noticed Cyril was coldly staring at the girl, his expression devoid of any emotion

Was he like this with his girlfriend

I frowned slightly, an odd feeling creeping up in my chest. Cyril’s reaction seemed off

Having spent some time with him, I had a fair understanding of his character. He was a gentleman; there was

no way he would react like this toward his girlfriend

Just as this thought crossed my mind, I saw Cyril grab the girl’s hand without hesitation, his expression cold

and resolute. Get away from me. Who allowed you to get this close?”

The once sultry voice immediately became soft, and the girl stammered, Mr. Hartman, please don’t be angry, I just wanted to talk with you, and that’s all”

I was stunned. Did I misunderstand? Was she not Cyril’s girlfriend

But that didn’t seem right either

I reined in my emotions and observed carefully

The sharpness in Cyril’s eyes didn’t diminish in the slightest. He gripped the girl’s wrist tightly, so forceful

that I could see the veins popping out on his forearm

The girl’s pained cry reached my ears. She was clearly in pain, quickly apologizing to Cyril with a cautious

tone

Cyril’s voice was as cold as ice. I’ve told you already, I don’t need this kind of service. If you dare touch me again, you can forget about your hand.”

I was taken aback, my fingers instinctively tightening. This kind of service?”

What exactly did Cyril mean by service

A vague suspicion began to form in my mind. I could hear voices from the other end of the phone, their

accents rough, clearly not locals from this city

Something wasn’t right. This was definitely not normal

I studied Cyril closely. His cheek was unusually flushed, and his eyes alternated between a dreamy haze and

sharpness, as if battling something

I noticed that the surroundings behind him seemed familiar, feeling that I’d seen them somewhere before

I heard a faint voice from the other end. Alright, since Mr. Hartman doesn’t need the service right now, there’s no need to force it. There will be a time when he does.”

The last sentence was spoken in a very low voice, and I had to strain to make out the words

It seemed like these people had ulterior motives. They likely wanted something from Cyril

I looked at Cyril, and my unease grew stronger

I shifted my tone, asking softly, Cyril, where are you? I really want to see you right now.”

Upon hearing my words, Cyril’s brows arched slightly, and his eyes suddenly filled with affection. You miss me, don’t you?”

The gravity of the situation made me tread carefully. Not wanting to raise suspicion with the people on the other end of the phone, I didn’t deny it but instead responded casually, Yes, I miss you, Cyril. Can I come see

you now?”

As soon as I spoke, I saw joy flicker in Cyril’s eyes. It seemed my words made him happy

My heart raced, and a strange wave of emotions spread through me

I fought to suppress these feelings, trying my best to stay calm

Cyril’s gaze deepened, as if he was thinking, Not right now. I still have work to finish. Once I’m done, I’ll go see you. Wait for me, okay?”

I gently pressed my lips together, and then I heard someone on the other end speak, Cyril, since your woman wants to come, let her. No need to stop her. I’m curious to see what kind of woman can catch your eye. She

must be quite something.”

The voice seemed to be moving closer. The person probably wanted to see what I looked like

Cyril’s expression immediately turned icy. He pulled the phone close to him, his voice to the person low and

firm. Don’t even think about it.”
