Chapter 67 Betrayed by the One He Loves Most
It seemed that Cyril noticed my gaze, as he paused for a moment and softly said to me, “Aurora, I can’t explain everything to you right now, but trust me, I would never harm you.”
I nodded in response, not doubting Cyril.
However, I couldn’t help but feel some confusion in my heart.
I was sure that Cyril held a significant position within Knightfall Group, possibly even being the one in charge.
In that case, if he wanted to take over the Hartman family, he wouldn’t need to go through such great lengths.
In fact… if he revealed his identity, Charles would likely hand over the Hartman family to him willingly.
So why did Cyril still choose such a secretive method to destroy the Hartman family’s industries?
I couldn’t quite make sense of it, as it didn’t seem like a matter of great importance to him.
Could it be for me?
That would just be absurd.
I pulled myself together and tucked the small handgun away.
Then, I softly thanked him.
Cyril gazed at me deeply, saying, “I will be your most loyal partner. Next time, if you plan to do something dangerous, please tell me. I will do everything I can to help you.”
My ears turned slightly warm, and I asked him curiously, “Cyril, why are you being so kind to me?”
He stared at me intensely, and for some reason, I suddenly felt afraid of getting an answer. After asking the question, I quickly placed my hand over his mouth, saying, “Forget it, I don’t want to know for now. We’ll talk
after everything’s over.”
Cyril’s lips curled up slightly, his eyelashes fluttered gently, and his eyes seemed to hold countless stars.
I could feel the warmth of his lips through my palm. I withdrew my hand, and I heard him say in a sincere
tone, “Aurora, I will always wait for you.”
I froze for a moment, feeling like I had heard those words before.
But I couldn’t recall where, so I let it go.
However, I understood that from this moment on, something seemed to have changed in the relationship
between Cyril and me.
But this time, I didn’t mind.
By the time we finished talking, it was already dawn.
Cyril appeared to have stayed up the entire night, looking somewhat fatigued.
I even suspected that Cyril had been helping me investigate Eudora’s matter the whole night, just so I could
receive the news sooner,
His care for me seemed stronger than I had anticipated.

When I got home, I was supposed to go to work with Cadell today, but my mind was a mess, so I decided to postpone it for a day.
Cadell was still expecting me to help save his family’s business, but he didn’t say much, only asking me to
rest well.
I ignored him and instead called Edmund.
He answered the phone quickly, his voice slightly lazy. “Calling me so early, got a new idea?”
I paused for a moment. “Edmund, I want to see results soon.”
There was a brief laugh from the other end. “Shall we meet and talk?“.
I had no objections, so we arranged a meeting place and I headed out.
He was still waiting for me in his garden. I had been here before, and the butler recognized me, so he led me in without needing to announce me.
When I arrived in the garden, Edmund was leisurely sipping red wine, looking in a good mood.
His gaze fell on me, lingering especially long on my neck and lips, before narrowing his eyes slightly. The usual languid expression in his eyes suddenly became sharp.
I was a bit confused. Was there something on my neck? Why was he making that face?
I quickly checked my phone screen and realized I had a noticeable hickey on my neck.
It must have been from last night with Cyril.
It wasn’t just my neck. I had several hickeys on my body, like a decayed rose garden.
I sat down opposite Edmund, and before I could speak, he raised an eyebrow. “Got yourself a boyfriend?”
This question stunned me, and I quickly replied, “Not really a boyfriend yet.”
Upon hearing my response, the sharpness in Edmund’s eyes faded, and he turned to the butler, saying, “Pour
the wine.”
The butler quietly agreed and poured me a glass of red wine.
The aroma was fragrant, and the bubbles in the wine were beautiful, a rare find in the market.
I took a sip, and indeed, it tasted excellent.
Edmund looked at me, suddenly asking. “What do you want me to do?”
I didn’t beat around the bush. “I want you to deal with Lorna quickly and push the progress forward.”
Edmund let out a light chuckle and suddenly asked me, “Aurora, are you using me?”
His gaze was fixed on me, with a trace of coldness in his eyes.
I wasn’t surprised that he had figured it out, or rather, I hadn’t intended to hide it from him in the first place.
“Edmund, I admit I do need your help, but it’s not using you. After all, I’m asking for your opinion. If you disagree, I’ll find another way.” I responded honestly.
Edmund’s gaze was intense, and after a moment, he slightly curled his lips. “Aurora, what’s in it for me if I help you?”

I was momentarily stunned “Mr. Cavendish, what do you want?”
Edmund looked at me with a half–smile and then said, “Alright, I don’t really want anything. Here’s the deal. If t help you, you’ll have dinner with me?”
I was taken aback. What kind of benefit was that?
I instinctively looked up at Edmund, and his smile seemed genuine, as if he truly hoped for that.
It suddenly clicked–I realized he was probably angry that I was using him, so he was making this a trade by
asking for a meal in return.
He really was… oddly endearing.
I smiled and agreed, and Edmund nodded in satisfaction. “Alright, tell me, what do you need me to do?”
I spoke softly, “Stick to the original plan. I just want to speed things up. It would be best if Lorna could steal the Hartman family’s business secrets in the next two days.”
Only then would Cadell completely lose his composure. Being betrayed by the one he loved most should be enough to make him lose control, right?
I thought bitterly to myself.
