Chapter 70 Making Loma Cry
I looked up at her. Lorna’s face was twisted with anger as she glared at me, clenching her teeth. “Aurora, I’m warning you, don’t covet things that don’t belong to you!”
I raised an eyebrow. Things that don’t belong to me? Are you talking about Cadell?”
Lorna let out a cold scoff. Tm glad you understand. I hope you know better than to get involved with Cadell. Someone like you don’t have what it takes to keep him around.”
Hearing her childish threat, I couldn’t help but laugh lightly. “But the truth is, Cadell was the one who wanted to reconcile with me. Lorna, are you jealous of me?”
My words infuriated Lorna. She glared at me fiercely. “Jealous of you? Don’t make me laugh! I’ve taken Cadell from you once before, and I can do it again! Aurora, you’ll never measure up to me!”
She looked so confident. I lowered my gaze, suppressing my teasing expression, and let anger show on my
face.
Seeing my change in demeanor, Lorna thought she had gained the upper hand. Her expression grew even
more smug
“Let me tell you, Cadell only loves me. Don’t delude yourself into thinking you can win his heart. To him, you’re
nothing but a distraction!”
“Do you really think Cadell loves you? He’s only using you! Aurora, do you honestly believe you can compare
to me?” Lorna lifted her chin, as if waiting for me to break down.
I smiled to myself, but outwardly, I feigned heartbreak–because, at that moment, Cadell was standing right
behind Lorna.
He had heard every single word she said.
I subtly pinched my thigh to keep tears from falling, then looked at Cadell, my face pale. “Is what she said true? Have you only been using me?”
Hearing my question, Lorna’s proud expression instantly froze. She turned around in disbelief, only to see
Cadell’s furious face.
Lorna immediately panicked. After all, Cadell had previously told her to steer clear of me to avoid raising
suspicion.
# No
Not only had she ignored his instructions, but she’d also exposed Cadell’s past schemes against me.
wonder he was angry!
With a dark expression, Cadell glared at Lorna in dissatisfaction. Then, he stepped toward me and gently
comforted me “Aurora, don’t listen to that woman’s nonsense. It’s not true.”
Lorna was rarely treated so harshly by him, and her eyes quickly reddened
But at this point, I wasn’t going to let it off so easily
I gave a mocking smile. “If that’s not the case, then why would Loma dare to say these things to me?”
Cadell’s expression turned slightly grim, and he struggled to respond.
Chapter 70 Making Lorna
I didn’t care and continued, “And Cadell, I believe I’ve told you before: I don’t want to see Lorna again. I have no interest in working for my enemy.”
That statement was a heavy blow for Cadell.
He quickly tried to reassure me. “No, this was just a misunderstanding, Aurora. Don’t take it to heart. If you don’t want Lorna around, I’ll have her removed immediately!”
He spoke with unusual firmness. Lorna’s face turned deathly pale. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. In a faint voice, she murmured, “Cadell.
“Shut up!” Cadell snapped at her. “Do you take none of my words seriously? Apologize to Aurora immediately. or don’t blame me for being mercilessl
I quietly curled my lips into a faint smile. Lorna seemed stunned by his words, tears welling up in her eyes.
I could tell that Cadell was feeling a bit soft–hearted, but because I was present, he had no choice but to side with me, not daring to show Lorna a hint of pity.
To be honest, at that moment, I suddenly felt like the villain, while Lorna and Cadell appeared to be a tragic main couple in a dramatic love film.
This thought made me chuckle involuntarily. Lorna caught sight of my smile and immediately burst into angry tears.
Huge tears rolled down her face as she cried in a strikingly beautiful way. “Cadell, are you really going to treat me like this?”
Cadell turned away coldly, refusing to look at her. “Before, I was soft–hearted and worried you wouldn’t find another job in the future, so I kept a position for you here. But you didn’t show any gratitude–instead, you humiliated me repeatedly… Lorna, as someone I once cherished, do you really think you should act this way?”
When he said ‘cherished,” his tone grew particularly heavy, and he paused slightly.
I could feel his reluctance, though Lorna remained oblivious.
At that moment, her expression looked as though her heart had been shattered. Her tears fell even more
earnestly.
Seeing her like this, Cadell’s irritation grew. He shouted angrily, “If you don’t apologize, don’t ever think about working here again! I won’t let you ruin Aurora’s mood!”
His words, so openly protective of me, delivered the final blow to Lorna’s composure.
I saw a flicker of coldness in her eyes, as if she had made up her mind. She then gritted her teeth and said to me, “Aurora, I apologize. I spoke out of line today. I hope you won’t hold it against me
Without waiting for my response, she turned and hurried away.
Before leaving, she gave Cadell a long, penetrating look. From that glance, I could sense nothing but hatred.
It seemed Lorna had taken the bait
