Chapter 74 Forcing Lorna to Admit Stealing Trade Secrets
My
y words clearly drained any interest Cadell had in continuing the conversation. He made up some excuse. got in his car, and drove away from the company. Judging by the direction he took, he was most likely heading to see Lorna.
This was getting more interesting by the minutel
I took the opportunity to request leave and went straight home to my office.
To fully enjoy this spectacle, I had previously purchased the house across the street from Lorna’s and installed surveillance equipment at the door.
These state–of–the–art devices could pick up even the faintest sounds. If Cadell and Lorna started arguing inside, I would be able to hear every word.
Not long after I got home, the surveillance feed showed Cadell arriving.
He was pounding on her door furiously, his eyes blazing with anger.
It looked like he had already confirmed that Lorna was the one who stole the trade secrets.
Feeling quite pleased, I opened a bag of chips and prepared to enjoy the impending drama.
Within three minutes, Lorna opened the door.
When she saw Cadell, her pupils dilated slightly, and her eyes betrayed a hint of guilt. “Cadell, what brings. you here?”
Cadell sneered and stared her down. “Lorna, don’t tell me you have no idea what’s been happening with the Hartman family lately.”
Her expression instantly froze, her gaze becoming evasive. But she still tried to maintain her composure, saying lightly, “I don’t know… I haven’t been feeling well and have been resting at home. Did something happen? Is there anything I can do to help, Cadell?”
Despite Cadell’s pointed questioning, she managed to quickly regain her calm and put on a gentle, understanding demeanor, which was rather surprising
Unfortunately for her, this time her tricks wouldn’t work. The evidence against her was solid, and she couldn’t easily deceive Cadell again.
Cadell’s eyes narrowed with scorn. “Lorna, do you really think I’m an i***t? I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t know
the truth.”
His blunt words, spoken without hesitation, turned Lorna’s face pale. Yet she still refused to give up and countered weakly, “Cadell, I don’t understand what you mean. What have I done wrong?”
That line pushed Cadell over the edge. He shoved her hard against the wall, the impact echoing loudly. I could see her grimace in pain, as if suffering from the force of the collision,
At that moment, Cadell showed no trace of pity. His eyes blazed with fury as he glared at her, clenching his teeth, and growled, “Did you leak my company’s trade secrets?”
Lorna hadn’t expected Cadell to uncover the truth so quickly. Her eyes widened in shock, and her voice

trembled. “What are you talking about? Cadell, why would I do something like that?”
Cadell let out a derisive laugh, his eyes cold as he looked at her. “Still won’t admit it? Loma, didn’t you say you knew nothing about what happened at my company? Then why weren’t you even the slightest bit surprised when I mentioned our trade secrets were leaked?”
I couldn’t help but click my tongue at that. Cadell wasn’t as dim–witted as I’d thought–he’d actually noticed the flaw in Lorna’s words so quickly.
Under his interrogation, Lorna was at a loss for how to respond, her eyes darting about. “I was just answering your questions. I don’t know anything about the company’s affairs..
Her string of lies only fueled Cadell’s anger. I watched as he furiously reached out, gripping Lorna’s throat
tightly
Lorna’s face quickly turned red as she gasped and struggled like a fish out of water.
Her pleading gaze turned to Cadell, but he remained unmoved. In a cold tone, he said, “Lorna, I’ll give you one last chance. Tell me–did you steal the company’s trade secrets?”
Lorna, out of breath and clearly unable to keep up the facade, hesitated before reluctantly nodding.
At that moment, Cadell’s anger was undeniable. His tightly clenched jaw spoke volumes, and it was clear he was grappling with the pain of betrayal by someone he trusted deeply.
I couldn’t help but let out a quiet laugh. Cadell, now you might finally understand how I felt back then.
I’d loved him for seven years, only to discover his infidelity through an email the day before our wedding. That pain still lingered vividly in my memory.
But fortunately, my feelings for him had never been entirely about love. When I realized how repulsive he was, I was able to cut ties without hesitation.
Cadell, however, wasn’t so lucky. He’d chosen to cheat and publicly disgrace himself to be with Lorna. Now, betrayed by her, he likely wouldn’t let her off easily.
Lorna looked at him with teary eyes, fighting to break free, and Cadell, seemingly afraid of the situation escalating, finally released her.
She collapsed weakly onto the ground, coughing violently.
In a voice heavy with pain, Cadell said, “Lorna, haven’t I treated you well? I’ve given you everything you wanted. I even let you wear a wedding dress on the day of my wedding to Aurora. And yet, why would you do this to me?”
Lorna, guilty and silent, lowered her head without answering.
Her silence only drove Cadell further into despair. “I’m asking you a question! Why did you steal the trade secrets? Do you have any idea how important they are to me? You’ve ruined my project. I can’t even hold my head up in front of my grandfather. Do you really think the inheritance will still go to me after this?”
Hearing his shouts, Lorna flinched.
I noticed her hand discreetly slipping into her pocket, pressing on her phone.
If I wasn’t mistaken, she was likely trying to call for help.
But from whom?

Edmund?
Now that would be truly amusing!
I glanced at Cadell’s distorted face and chuckled softly.
It seemed he still hadn’t fully grasped the situation.
If Lorna was bold enough to do something like this, how could she still care about him?
