Chapter 87 You Slept with Cyril?
After finishing my brief exchange with Cyril, I placed the Fluoro Track back under my tongue. Its position there was difficult to detect and did not interfere with my speech.
I had no way of telling how long I had been confined in this pitch–black room. The faint, lingering scent in the air only heightened my physical discomfort.
If it had been someone with weaker resolve, they might have given in to their bodily desires by now.
Just when I felt like I was reaching my limit, the door of the small, dark room suddenly opened.
I raised my head and saw a figure seated in a wheelchair.
It was Cadell.
Because of the backlight, I couldn’t clearly see his expression–only that he was alone.
Struggling to my feet, I instinctively asked, “Cadell, why are you here?”
My voice came out weak, with a faint, involuntary hook at the end. It sounded as if I had just endured a storm of emotions so much so that even I found it a bit alluring.
I coughed lightly and stepped towards the source of light.
I needed fresh air, to let it replace the scented fog in my lungs. It would help ease my discomfort.
When I reached Cadell, he still didn’t answer. Confused, I looked up at him.
As my eyes adjusted to the light, my vision cleared, and I finally saw his expression.
His gaze was fixed on me, devoid of the previous affection and tenderness. Instead, it was filled with coldness and hostility.
At that moment, I understood.
Cyril must have made his move. Our plan had commenced ahead of schedule, and Lorna had served her
purpose.
Sure enough, in the next instant, Cadell slammed his hand on the wheelchair’s armrest. The sharp noise
pierced my ears.
I heard his furious voice. “Aurora, do you think I’m that easy to fool?”
Feigning confusion, I replied, “Cadell, what are you talking about? How could I bear to deceive you?”
Cadell let out a cold laugh from deep in his throat. Ignoring his pain, he stood from the wheelchair and gripped my neck tightly, his eyes blazing with fury and hatred.
“Aurora, let me ask you–did you sell your shares to Cyril long ago?”
He bit out each word through clenched teeth. As he spoke, his emotions seemed to spiral out of control, and his grip on my neck tightened, sending waves of pain through my throat.
I began to struggle for breath. Yet in that suffocating moment, the physical discomfort somehow dulled the oppressive desire in my body, providing a brief sense of relief.
I made my expression one of disbelief, filling my eyes with anxiety.

Seeing my reaction, Cadell seemed to confirm his suspicions. His eyes turned bloodshot, and his voice trembled with anguish. Aurora, from the very beginning, you were deceiving me, weren’t you?”
I avoided his gaze, pretending to be too distressed to answer.
It was as though Cadell’s heart shattered. With a bitter laugh, he clenched his jaw and spoke in a voice as cold as ice, “Grandfather warned me about your schemes, but I didn’t believe him. I foolishly thought you loved me, that you’d never leave me. But now I see–you just wanted to trick me!”
He tightened his grip further. My neck throbbed with pain, and the taste of blood rose in my throat..
“Aurora, when did you start conspiring with Cyril?” he spat. “You’ve been working with him to bring me down, haven’t you? You sold your shares behind my back! How could you be so heartless? You… you deserve to
diel
I remained calm, unfazed by the physical pain. With a lazy lift of my brow, I looked at him and, with difficulty, managed to say, “You’ve figured it out?”
Her words struck like a bomb, its explosive force far exceeding his expectations.
His face went pale in an instant, and his hand, which had been tightly gripping her neck, slackened considerably. He appeared as if his whole body had suddenly gone limp.
Of course, he would react this way.
Not long ago, he had barely recovered from Lorna’s betrayal. Now, he was faced with another, from someone with whom he had a seven–year relationship. How could Cadell not be devastated?
What made it worse was that he had convinced himself that she loved him. Loved him so much that, even. after his infidelity, she stayed by his side, forgave him, and chose to reconcile and marry him.
Thanks to her performance over the past weeks, Cadell had firmly believed she was in love with him and willing to sacrifice everything for his sake–up until the moment the truth hit him.
When that moment arrived, it broke him completely.
He let go of her, his eyes bloodshot with rage. “Aurora, are you lying to me?”
His earlier grip had been so forceful it had strained her vocal cords, leaving her voice hoarse and raspy.
She responded calmly, “What do you think, Cadell? Now that my plan has failed and I’m in this situation, there’s no point in hiding it anymore. All the love I’ve shown you–every bit of it–was fake. To be honest, every time I got near you, I felt disgusted.”
“Aurora!” he roared, as if hoping to scare her into backing down.
But this time, her goal was to provoke him.
Only if he felt absolutely no pity for her would she be treated as a mere commodity and sent away.
The more he hated her, the more répugnant her fate would be.
Among his associates, there was no better candidate than Philip.
She needed to go there, because that was where Sylvia had been.
Ignoring his reaction, she continued nonchalantly, “Cadell, I don’t understand where your confidence comes. from. How could you possibly think that after everything you’ve done, I’d still love you?”

“Honestly, how do you compare to Cyril? He’s smarter in business, better looking, and even- she paused with a smirk-“his skills in bed are a hundred times better than yours.”
Before she could finish, Cadell let out a guttural roar and smashed his fist against the wall beside her. The impact produced a dull thud.
He gritted his teeth, glaring at her. “You slept with Cyril?*
She lifted the corners of her lips into a smile. “What do you think?”
