Chapter 93 Fear Not, It’s Me
The sudden noise jolted me, and my brows knit together in an instant.
Loma’s voice kept echoing, “Cadell, doesn’t it strike you as odd? Why did Aurora agree to clarify the video thing only if you didn’t repay the debt for me? What does she have to do with the matters between the two of
us?”
Cadell seemed convinced by her words. “So, Aurora’s been scheming behind my back all along!”
“You’re absolutely right!” Lorna chimed in eagerly. “When you first brought her back to the company, she’d berate me every chance she got She’d ask if I’d paid back the money and even threatened to call the police
on me!”
As Lorna wove her web of deceit, she managed to squeeze out a few crocodile tears to sell her story.
I could easily pick up on the phony quiver in her voice.
Listening from the closet, I couldn’t help but smirk at the absurdity
She was even more skilled at spinning tales than I’d expected.
Yet, Cadell didn’t bother to fact–check, blindly lapping up every word she fed him.
No wonder these two had been sneaking around for over five years–they were a match made in cluelessness!
Then, when my mother suddenly fell ill, I was forced to do something reckless. Cadell, I know I was wrong, but you have to forgive me.”
After her pitiful plea, she continued to slander me. “But here’s the kicker, Cadell–before I ran back, I snooped through Edmund’s phone. It was Aurora who told him to manipulate me into stealing those confidential files!” Her words hit like a bolt of lightning. I could hear Cadell’s ragged breaths as he slammed the closet door in a rage, unleashing his anger.
Lorna pressed on, “She planned this all along! She wanted to tear us apart so she could have you to herself!” Cadell’s voice was laced with venom. “No wonder she came crawling back. She never cared about mel Aurora’s been playing me from the start!”
I arched a brow, already piecing together where Cadell’s mind was going
With Lorna’s lies fueling his paranoia, he was probably convinced I’d only gotten close to him for that secret operation. Add that to the things I’d said to rile him up. Cadell was probably boiling with hatred for me.

Lorna relished his reaction, purring softly, her voice dripping with honeyed words. “Cadell, do how much I truly care for you? I was scared stiff she’d trick you, so I made sure to come back and tell you everything the moment I found out.”
She then put on a show of tears, adding, “I know both you and your grandfather probably hate me right now, and it might take a while for you to accept me again. But it’s okay, Cadell. I’ll stick around until you forgive
me.”
Then came the final blow. “Even our little one will be waiting.”

I had to hand it to her–Lorna was a pro at playing men like a fiddle. Her words were calculated, her timing impeccable
Cadell, barely holding back his rage, softened his voice as he reassured her, “Don’t worry. I’ll talk to Grandfather about it. But we’ll have to get a DNA test done. Otherwise, he’s unlikely to believe it.”
There was a long, uncomfortable pause before she finally choked out, “Alright, let’s do it then.”
Her reaction set off alarm bells in my head. Was there more to this baby story than she was letting on? Things were getting more intriguing now.
Honestly, part of me wished the kid was Cadell’s. That way, these two would be bound together for life, unable to wreak havoc on anyone else. Those two deserved to be shackled together, forever making each
other miserable.
As the two of them prepared to leave, Cadell slid a small, flat object through the cabinet’s c***k. I focused on it, my face hardening like stone.
That wasn’t just a piece of paper. It was a small sachet.
The smell hit me like a punch to the gut–I knew it all too well. Back when I was knee–deep in corporate backstabbing, I’d come across things like this before.
On its own, it seemed innocent enough, even inviting, with its crisp, soothing scent. But I knew better. This was a powerful enhancer, meant to kick the effects of certain other things–like aphrodisiacs–into overdrive. It would be like tossing a match into a pool of gasoline–instant chaos.
If those shots I’d been given weren’t just sugar water, I’d have been out of my mind, burning with a hunger 1 couldn’t control.
This was Cadell’s sick idea of revenge.
He seemed desperate to win Lorna back, as if it would prove his charm. That’s why he didn’t dare let her know
I was here, resorting to such a twisted way to punish me instead.
Maybe… he actually wanted to watch me lose my mind to the dg, groveling at his feet, begging for his
attention
Talk about living in a dreamworld.
I shut my eyes, brushing the thought aside.
Now that I knew what it was, I just had to act the part when Cadell came back.
I kept resting with my eyes closed, but just as I was about to doze off, a faint sound snapped me awake.
My eyes flew open, instantly alert. Then, I felt warm hands gently brushing my back.
I tried to turn and see who it was, but the cage was so cramped I couldn’t even move
I frowned, a knot of unease tightening in my chest.
Then, a familiar voice whispered softly in my ear, “Don’t worry, It’s me.”
I froze. “Cyril? What are you doing here?
We kept our voices low. He leaned in, whispering, “I was worried about you, so I came to check.”
Warmth filled my chest. “It’s fine. Everything’s on track.”
He gave a soft hum in reply, and then I fell him slip something into my pocket.
