Chapter 95 Lost in His Ow

Chapter 95 Lost in His Own World

Cyril shifted slightly, then quickly gathered his things. With a gentle touch, he used a handkerchief to clean my mouth before retreating quietly in the direction he had come from

The sound of footsteps grew louder, and I couldn’t see what was happening on Cyril’s side. A wave of anxiety

washed over me

No matter what, Cadell mustn’t find out Cyril was here

If he did, it’d be a disaster

I was on edge as Cadell’s footsteps drew closer, now just about three meters away

Sure enough, two seconds later, the cabinet door was yanked open, and a blinding light flooded in, forcing me

to squint

The intense glare made my eyes water

I kept my eyes shut, listening intently. Three seconds passed, and I didn’t hear Cadell’s angry voice. I breathed

a sigh of relief, figuring Cyril must have slipped away unnoticed

If Cadell had caught him, given his temperament, he wouldn’t have stayed this quiet

With that thought, I started to calm down

Then, I heard the clinking of chains

By now, my eyes had adjusted somewhat to the harsh light, and I could just barely make out the figure in

front of me

Cadell crouched before me, his face grim, as he unlocked my cage

I furrowed my brows, about to speak, but before I could, he grabbed my wrist

Cadell yanked me out mercilessly, his movements rough and careless. The cold metal of the cage scraped

against my skin, leaving a sting

I couldn’t help it. What’s wrong with you?!”

Hah!Cadell let out a chilling sneer from deep in his throat. His piercing, menacing gaze locked onto me

Aurora, stop playing dumb. You know exactly what’s going on!”

He gritted his teeth as he spoke. I don’t believe you didn’t hear what Lorna said. Admit it! You tried to drive

wedge between us, didn’t you? Aurora, how could you be so heartless?”

I looked up at him, my face expressionless. What if I am? What are you going to do about it? Hit me?”

I wasn’t worried. I knew Charles was determined to gift me to someone else, and if I had it right, that

someone was Philip

After all, Philip had shown a keen interest in me back then, and with the Hartman family’s decline due to

various reasons, Charles must be desperate to stabilize their position

Forging a connection with Philip and gaining access to his resources and projects would undoubtedly

improve the Hartman family’s current situation

It was no wonder Charles would leap at the chancel He was probably eager to prepare me and deliver me as quickly as possible. That’s why, at this moment, Cadell couldn’t harm menot even leave a scratchin case Philip noticed and ruined their plans

As expected, Cadell’s face contorted with rage at my words. He gritted his teeth and sneered, Aurora, you

think I won’t dare touch you?”

I stared back at him calmly, not saying a word, but my expression said it all

Enraged, Cadell let out a chilling laugh, his eyes narrowing as he seemed to recall something. You’re right, Aurora. I can’t hit you, butaren’t you suffering right now?”

He gripped my cheeks and then produced a small mirror in front of me. I could see my reflection clearly. The constant turmoil and Cadell’s deliberate torment had worn me down. My face looked thinner, its former glow diminished. I looked haggardstrikingly similar to the photo of my sister that Philip had shown me

I lowered my eyes, perhaps because the desire lingering from Cyril’s earlier visit hadn’t fully faded. My gaze carried a faint tenderness, as though I were truly suffering under the effects of some drug

Cadell, of course, was clueless about what had transpired. He assumed my state was entirely due to his

torment

He mocked with a smirk, Aurora, this must be more agonizing than if I hit you, isn’t it?”

I didn’t respond, allowing him to draw his own conclusions

Unbeknownst to him, I wasn’t suffering at all. In fact, I felt a wave of relief after having eaten. But I wouldn’t let him in on that. Observing him wallow in his delusions was strangely amusing

The malice in Cadell’s eyes grew more pronounced. Back when we were together, you put on airs, refusing to even kiss me. But look at you nowwhat’s the difference between you and a girl who’ll sell herself for cash?”

He continued, Actually, no. You’re even cheaper than them! At least those women are part of a transaction. But you? Soon enough, you’ll be nothing but a pitiful creature, groveling at a man’s feet to satisfy your

desires.”

He hurled insults at me without restraint. Aurora, why are you still pretending to be innocent and chaste? You’re about to become the lowest of the low. How does it feel? Crushing? Hopeless?”

I let a shadow of anguish cross my face, feigning anger as I glared at him. Cadell, you’re disgusting!”

I’m disgusting?Cadell sneered. You’ll be even more disgusting than me!”

I took a deep breath. After everything we’ve been through for seven years, why do you have to humiliate me

like this?”

Truthfully, I didn’t care what he said. My act was only meant to lower his guard

Sure enough, Cadell grew even more smug. He spoke slowly, every syllable laced with poison. Aurora, you brought this on yourself.”

After a pause, he added, Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you suffer even more. I know you’re craving a man right now, but I won’t give you that satisfaction. Instead, I’ll make you watch as I shower my attention on someone

else.”

My brows furrowed instantly, a cold dread coiled in my stomach
