Chapter 101 Let’s Begin with Him
As my words hung in the air, the balance of power between us teetered, shifting in a way that was almost
imperceptible.
Cadell was gasping for air, his chest heaving with each labored breath, his eyes boring into me, unreadable
and fierce.
I met his gaze calmly, watching as his expression crumbled bit by bit. I couldn’t suppress a low, derisive
chuckle.
By all rights, he should’ve had the upper hand in this standoff. After all, I was so utterly sorry that I could
barely hold myself upright.
But Cadell was as sharp as a sack of wet potatoes. With a few carefully chosen words, I flipped the script
entirely, and now he was the one suffering.
I raised an eyebrow and taunted him, “If you grovel at my feet, I might just go easy on you when I talk to Mr.
Hodge.”
Cadell’s gaze shot back to me like a whip. He planted one foot on the cage, leaning down to glare at me.
He tried to loom over me, but his lack of stature made it laughable instead of menacing. Instead of exuding
power, he looked like a child throwing a tantrum.
I wasn’t intimidated at all.
I let my smirk spread across my face, unapologetic and sharp. Cadell was boiling with rage, his teeth grinding as he spat out the words, “Aurora, I think it’s you who doesn’t understand! I’m the one who decides whether or not to send you to Philip!”
I laughed openly. “Then cancel it. If you don’t send me to him, I’ll be even safer.”
I didn’t believe a word he said. The second Philip had set his sights on me, my fate had been sealed. Cadell
had no say in the matter.
My words hit him like a punch to the gut. He glared at me, realizing he couldn’t win this argument, and finally spat out, “Fine, Aurora. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!”
With that, he turned on his heel and marched away, not even bothering to look back.
I watched him scurry off like a man beaten and broken. A cold, bitter smile twisted my lips. Why did he even bother coming here to humiliate himself? Hadn’t he learned his lesson by now?
When Cadell returned, the sky had already darkened. His eyes burned with hatred as he glared at me, each
look a dagger aimed straight at my heart.
Behind him trailed eight burly men dressed in black suits. They were the Hartman family’s personal bodyguards. It was obvious they were gearing up to haul me off to Philip’s lair. A knot of anxiety tightened in my stomach–I wasn’t sure if they’d search me again. If they discovered the g’n Cyril had slipped me, they’d quickly connect the dots back to him.
Cadell’s burning stare fixed on me, drawing the attention of the eight guards. One of them hissed at him under his breath, “Cadell, don’t forget Mr. Hartman’s orders! Aurora must go to the Hodge family. You can’t

interfere
Suddenly, it all made sense. That fool Cadell had been promired by my words and had stormed off to Cherries
to throw a tantrum! His sour face told me he’d gotten an earfet
The guard’s sharp rebuke made Cadell clench his jaw and mutter, “Fine”
The guard said nothing more, instead glancing at me and ordering Move the cage to the car
Another guard hesitated, “Shouldn’t we check her again?
This was it. My heart lurched. If they searched me again, the gear I was hiding would be discovered (dhaw no way to explain it!
While I scrambled to come up with a way out of this mess, the head guard’s brow furrowed “Sock when are Hartman women a threat? Why the extra precautions?
I slid my eyes toward him. His expression was icy, giving nothing away, but I could sense it–te was one of Cyril’s men. Of course, Cyril was always meticulous. It was unlikely he would overlook these deals.
The knot in my stomach unraveled in an instant, replaced by a cold, indifferent calm, it felt like they were talking about someone else entirely. My icy composure seemed to put the guard’s mind at ease. You’re right he said. “These women are nothing more than toys, stripped of any humanity. From the moment they are captured, they are stripped of any power or threat, so they pose no danger at all
The head guard barked, “Stop standing around. Get moving
The others jumped to it, lifting my cage and loading it into the trunk. The trunk was spacious, but even in the cool night, the air was suffocating. In no time, I was drenched in sweat, the heat unbearable
But no one would care about my condition.
After all, for those rich folks, a beautiful yet disheveled woman is more likely to ignite their desire to protect This is the Hartman family’s sales tactic–they believe that a toy capable of evoking pity from its buyer is the sign of a successfully trained product.
Aside from ensuring no visible scars, they would do everything they could to break us.
Had it not been for the meal Cyril had sent me earlier, I would have gone nearly two days without food or
water.
For any normal woman, this would have been unbearable by now.
Upon meeting their buyer, they would desperately beg for food and water, stopping at nothing to win their
favor.
The Hartman family really knows how to play the game.
My eyes burned with contempt. The harsher they were to me, the clearer I could imagine my sister’s plight.
It must have been a thousand times worse than mine. Suddenly, I changed my mind–what’s the point of just taking down the Hartman family?
These buyers are just as guilty–they’re all monsters!
My head was filled with visions of my sister’s fragile expression. I swore that I would make every single one of them pay.
O
