Chapter 111 He’s in on It Too
Philip didn’t respond. He just locked his eyes on me, unblinking, his thoughts a mystery.
I’d lost my patience. Turning to Jack, I said, “Tie him up. Treat the gunshot wound on his leg. Make sure he
doesn’t die.”
Jack smiled reassuringly. “You’ve got it.”
I nodded, then shifted my gaze to Cyril. “Is everything outside handled?”
Cyril gave a firm nod. “Locked down tight.”
A soft smile tugged at my lips. “Good. I’m going to take a shower.”
Grime clung to me like a second skin, itching and uncomfortable.
I knew that even if I kept pressing Philip, he’d keep his lips sealed. He probably thought that as long as he stayed silent, I’d keep him alive and he’d avoid punishment.
But I’d dealt with his kind before.
The best approach was to let him stew for a while. Jack would break him down piece by piece, and when the time came, it’d be far more effective.
Cyril didn’t say much, simply leading me to the bathroom. Just before I closed the door, his Adam’s apple bobbed as he asked, “Need a hand?”
Before he spoke, my body had been fine. But his words sent a jolt through me, setting my nerves on fire and leaving my legs weak.
I forced myself to stay composed, taking a deep breath. “Cyril, it’s not the right time.”
His ears flushed red, making him look almost boyishly shy.
“I know. I just… didn’t want you to be too uncomfortable.”
I gave him a small smile but didn’t respond, quickly stepping into the shower.
When I emerged, clean and refreshed, Cyril had prepared a meal for me. Glancing down, I saw a steaming bowl of rich soup and a spread of light, comforting dishes.
He was thoughtful, knowing I hadn’t eaten in a while and that something gentle would be easier on my
stomach.
I finished the meal quickly, feeling my strength return. Without wasting any time, I headed straight for the
basement.
The basement was a hollow, shadowy space with only Philip as its prisoner.
Jack was a genius. Not only had he tied the man up, but he’d also cut the lights and flooded the walls with scenes of blood–curdling horror, all to break Philip’s mental defenses.
It was a tactic Philip himself had used on my sister. I still remembered the smug look in his eyes as he
bragged about his “masterpiece” of punishment.
Now, that same masterpiece was being used against him. I couldn’t tell what he was feeling, but his terror

was written all over his face.
Philip was on the verge of a breakdown. Even the faintest sounds sent him flinching like a hunted prey.
I moved closer, step by step, each one measured and deliberate. He was too caught up in his desperate thrashing to notice me. The c***k of the whip against his body jolted him, and he let out a piercing scream. At the same instant, the horror films cut off, and the lights flared back to life. When our eyes met, a flicker of
hope lit up his gaze.
My voice was icy as I demanded, “Philip, it’s time you answered my questions, don’t you think?”
Cyril slid a chair into place, and I settled into it, my eyes locked on Philip’s, cold and unrelenting.
He began to bargain, his tone smooth and persuasive. “Aurora, Knightfall Group has already taken so many of my people. Let’s consider this settled. We’re not really at odds, are we?” He continued, his voice coaxing, “Let’s call it even. I’ll never bring it up again, and I’ll tell you everything you want to know. How about it?”
I let out a sharp, mocking laugh. “Philip, do you really think I’m a fool?”
He stiffened, and I arched a brow, my voice dripping with sarcasm. “What makes you think you’re in any position to bargain with me?”
His face went pale in a heartbeat, the color draining from his cheeks. “But I’ve got the secrets you’re after,
don’t I?”
I gave a low chuckle. He wasn’t entirely wrong–I needed what he knew.
“Philip, you’re underestimating me. If I could find you, I can also find my sister. In fact, I already know who you passed her off to.” I stressed the word “passed,” letting it linger like a weight in the air.
His pupils shrank to pinpricks, and in that instant, my suspicions were confirmed. My sister had been treated like nothing more than merchandise, sold off by him. Rage burned hotter in my chest, and without a second thought, I slashed the whip across his face. The barbed whip ripped into his skin, and his scream echoed
through the space.
At last, he grasped the severity of his plight, his voice shaking as he pleaded, “Aurora, I swear I didn’t touch your sister! Just stop! I’ll tell you whatever you want!”
He was a coward, crumbling into tears and begging after only two strikes. But I wasn’t moved. I remembered all too clearly how cruel he’d been with my sister. She’d probably begged him as well, but he wouldn’t have given her an inch. Now that he was at my mercy, I could take my time making him suffer.
I ignored his cries and simply called over my shoulder, “Cyril.”
Cyril walked slowly to stand behind me, as if he didn’t notice the horrific scene in front of him. His face was calm, almost indifferent, save for a gentle look in his eyes when he looked at me. “What did you call me for?”
he asked, his voice steady.
My gaze lingered on Philip for a moment before I gave a soft laugh. “It’s nothing big. Just get me some silver
needles,” I said casually.
Cyril didn’t ask any questions, though he clearly had no idea what I was planning. He simply nodded and
went to do as I asked.
Meanwhile, Philip’s eyes widened in horror at my words. He squirmed in his bindings, struggling as if trying to
escape, his panic palpable.

I watched him with a calm expression, a slight smirk on my lips. “Your body’s not bad, Philip. I don’t want to ruin it too much,” I said, my tone almost conversational. “But since you were so creative with your methods when it came to my sister, why don’t you try them out yourself?”
His eyes filled with despair, and he kept shaking his head. “Aurora, please! I’m begging you, stop! Go rescue 0687! She’s with Galian Evans! I’ve already told you everything! If you’re too late, she’ll die!”
My face immediately turned grim. Galian Evans? I was very familiar with that name, but I never thought he’d be part of this…
