Chapter 112 Galian Evans
Galian Evans and I had been friends for what felt like forever. It all started when my mother vanished without. a trace, and my sister was snatched away by the Hartman family. Just like that, I was left an orphan.
Going back home wasn’t an option–they’d come for me too.
If they got their hands on me, any hope of avenging my mother and sister would be gone.
I was too scared to reach out to my mother’s relatives. For all I knew, shadowy figures were lurking, keeping
tabs on them.
After racking my brain, I ended up drifting through the streets for a whole month. When I was finally sure I wasn’t being tailed, I made my way to an orphanage and left myself on its doorstep.
That month was a blur of running, hiding, and barely scraping by with scraps of food. By the time I collapsed at the orphanage’s doorstep, I was skin and bones, barely clinging to life.
A kind–hearted woman opened the door, her eyes widening at the sight of me, and without hesitation, she scooped me up and brought me inside.
That’s where I first crossed paths with Galian.
He was one of the kids at the orphanage, but unlike the rest, he refused to believe he’d been abandoned. In his mind, he was simply lost, and his parents would come looking for him any day now.
He had talents that set him apart from the other kids. He played the piano like a prodigy, had a mind full of secrets, and knew things most people could only dream of.
It was these traits that made me gravitate toward him.
I was obsessed with figuring out what the rich kids were taught and how I could rise above my
circumstances. So I shadowed him like a hawk, soaking up every word he said. For the first time, I had a clear
vision of where I wanted to go in life.
In a way, Galian became my mentor.
He was a world apart from the other kids in the orphanage. When prospective parents showed up, the other
kids would scramble for attention, but Galian? He’d lock himself in a tiny, dark room and shut everyone out.
For the longest time, I thought he was just living in a fantasy world.
But deep down, I envied him–his unshakable faith that his parents loved him and that his family was still out
there, waiting for him.
I spent three years in that orphanage, watching Galian grow into adulthood.
We grew closer than ever. I trusted him with almost everything–except the secrets about my family.
After I tracked down my mother, who was critically ill, I told him about it.
The orphanage caretakers felt sorry for me. Even after rumors spread that I had found my mother, they let me
stay. I lived a quiet life there until I turned sixteen. When Galian left, I left too.
During that time, Galian kept offering me money to help treat my mother’s illness. To me, he was like a
brother. He was an amazing guy–top of his class, he made a splash the moment he started college, and

even started his own little company that did really well. Maybe he was just too talented, so the family that had abandoned him came crawling back. He turned into a wealthy heir, and within just two years, he was named the heir to the Evans family.
Throughout all this, we stayed in touch. When I was about to get married, Galian even offered to buy me a
fancy car. But when I found out about Cadell’s cheating, I canceled the wedding and turned down his gift. But he wasn’t upset. Instead, he said that when I found the right person, he’d give me an even fancier wedding
gift.
Before hearing his name from Philip, I always thought of Galian as family–someone who, even without blood
ties, was like a brother to me. I was in shock. How could someone so kind, who’d always been there for me, do something so terrible?
On top of that… my sister was practically my twin. I never mentioned having a sister to him, but I did say I’d
lost someone very dear to me. If he saw her, he’d have figured it out, right?
I couldn’t bear to think about it. I was scared of the truth, scared it would break me. During those years when I was drowning in despair, Galian was the one who saved me. I couldn’t believe he’d do something like that.
I took a deep breath to calm myself down, then shot Philip a fierce look. “When did you send my sister away?”
Philip didn’t dare keep quiet. He was scared of the silver needles digging into his nails, terrified of that unbearable pain.
He blurted out, “Six months ago! Six months ago, my company hit a financial wall and was desperate for an
investor. But everyone I knew wanted nothing to do with the mess. So, I was forced to crawl to Galian. You know he’s loaded, but I had nothing to sweeten the deal. That all changed when Galian showed up and laid
eyes on 0687…”
My breath hitched, and I clenched my jaw. “Go on.”
Philip stammered out, “He was practically obsessed with 0687. Seeing how captivated he was by her, I offered her up in exchange for the investment, and he agreed!”
I couldn’t make out what he said after that. All I could sense was a loud buzzing in my ears.
Galian was the one who took my sister. Yet, for the past six months, he never once mentioned to me that
someone who looked so much like me was now by his side…
A suffocating unease settled over me. For a moment, I was at a loss on how to face Galian.
What did he want with my sister?
Why, knowing I had lost someone so dear to me, did he not breathe a word about encountering someone who looked just like me?
No wonder he hadn’t been reaching out to me as much lately.
Was he afraid I’d find out?
Countless questions piled up in my mind. I couldn’t fathom that the man who had been like an older brother to me could be just as despicable as Philip, treating women like toys!
Was there more to this than met the eye?
