Celeste was screaming like a maniac, trying to push past my friends.[]
“I told you to move! Are you fucking deaf?!“]

But with her meager strength, how could she possibly budge my friends who spent years at the gym?]
She cried while enduring my friends‘ sarcastic comments.
“Oh my, such little strength! You were pretty bold when ordering all that food earlier!“[]
Just as I w
was about to call the restaurant staff over to have Celeste settle the bill, my wrist was suddenly grabbed with tremendous force.
It was Archer.

He’d finally broken through my friends‘ defense line and pulled me over.]
Then he did something that left me absolutely stunned-
He took the necklace from my hands, and personally placed it around my neck.
The cold chain against my skin gave me goosebumps.]
“Happy birthday. Are you satisfied now?“]
He looked down at me with complex eyes, his voice full of exhaustion and compromise, as if he’d made some enormous concession.
“I’ve put the gift on you, you’ve vented your anger–can you stop making a scene? You’ve been causing drama all day just to hear me say this, haven’t you?”
“Even if you hadn’t made a scene, I would have come to tell you this later after taking Celeste home. Was all this really necessary?“]]
He took a deep breath and began his earth–shattering performance:[]
“I know you’re angry that I’ve been paying more attention to Celeste lately. But I haven’t crossed any lines, have I? You like me, but you don’t need to bully Celeste to get my attention.“]
“This is exhausting for both of us.“[]
“Don’t worry, after graduation, I’ll marry you. I’ll help take over and manage your family’s company too.“]
“I also know you keep targeting Celeste because you’re an only child and you’re afraid someone will steal away the promising son–in–law your family has chosen.”
“I understand you, but you can’t keep being

unreasonable! Fine, I promise I’ll keep some distance from Celeste from now on. Is that acceptable?”
After finishing, he looked painfully at the tearful Celeste with apparent reluctance.
Then his gaze suddenly became resolute as it returned to me.
As if he’d made some great decision and
normous sacrifice.
For a moment, the entire room froze, even the air seemed to solidify.[]
My friends and I stared at him like he was an alien, unable to believe what we’d just heard.[
But Celeste took it seriously.
She looked at Archer with heartbreak, her voice trembling:
“Archer… I… I didn’t know… I didn’t know that just having a birthday would make me lose you… Please don’t keep distance from me, okay?“[]
She was about to cry and throw herself into Archer’s arms.
Archer wanted to push her away but couldn’t bear to, veins bulging on his forehead as he endured, performing a deeply tormented love tragedy.[]
I? Was genuinely amused by my anger.
So it’s true that when you’re speechless enough, you actually burst out laughing.
“Archer.” I pulled off the necklace and threw it on the table.}
“Did you get your brain caught in a door? I like you? I’m afraid you’ll be stolen away?“]
“Could you please go to the hospital and get your brain checked? Are you planning to stay this stupid without considering treatment?“||]
“Don’t worry,” I pointed at him and Celeste, “I’ll definitely stay far away from you two pieces of shit! You can stick together forever and never separate!”
Archer was stunned for a moment, then as if remembering something, smiled with that insufferable relief, looking at me with an “I knew you’d react this way” expression.
“Sure enough, you’re saying things you don’t mean again.“]]
“You’re always like this, saying the opposite of what you feel.“[]
I couldn’t be bothered to waste more words on this delusional fool.[]
You can’t reason with a narcissistic man living in his own fantasy world.]
I gave Victoria a look
“Go call the manager over to settle the bill.“[]
