Chapter 56
I was familiar with Taylor and her family’s wealth. They had expensive cars, branded clothes, fancy wine, and costly trips. They hostel estrat and could afford to do things some ordinary families couldn’t.
However, what I was experiencing at Blake’s house was very different. They weren’t just comfortable; they were incredibly cozy. I’m sure they ma McDuck and Bill Gates look like beggars.
I was sitting at a dining table made for at least twenty people with food in front of me that could feed a village. There were three different chefs and five servants organizing the lunch. I sat back with a glass of champagne and watched the chaos in front of me unfold.
After I was done showering, Lawrence knocked on my door to tell me Sue was waiting for me downstairs for lunch. He helped me find my way to the dining
area and then left to help organize lunch. I was going to ask him about the huge dog on the lawn, but he seemed to be in a rush.
Blake had disappeared as well. I hadn’t seen him since he left my room. I had been downstairs for almost 30 minutes, but he was nowhere to be seen. I tried calling him, but his phone just rang and rang without an answer. Where was this boy? I was dying to ask him about the dog too. Was it even a dog, or was it a wolf? I did hear the howling in the woods, but I wouldn’t expect a wolf to come out that far from the woods during daylight.
The most confusing part was how the animal turned and looked at me. It was so far away. How could it even hear me? The animal’s eyes stared at me like they recognized me. The way its eyes drew me in gave me chills. I had to ask or tell someone about the animal. What if someone was out there not knowing a wolf animal was walking around. The animal could have attacked them.
“Rosy, do you have any food restrictions? Allergies?” Sue asked, pulling me out of my thoughts.
“No, I don’t, Sue”
“Perfect! I should have asked that beforehand but forgot. Nate will be home shortly. When I called him, he was just wrapping up a meeting. Emily was super excited too. She said she was going to finish her class and come straight home‘ she sat down across from me.
“I feel like I’ve interrupted everyone’s life. I’m so sorry!”
“Don’t be silly. We usually have lunch together anyway. So it’s not a problem at all. Now, enjoy your champagne. She sipped on her champagne.
“I’m glad your here. I was starting to think you were just a figment of Blake’s imagination, Sue laughed.
I laughed nervously and took a sip of the champagne. It was so delicious. “Well, when you look at Blake, he should be the figment of someone’s imagination. Guys like him are very rare to find‘
“My boy is extraordinary, that’s for sure” Sue’s reply was filled with pride. Even her facial expression showed how proud she was of her son.
It made my heart ache a little seeing her reaction. My mother had never shown that kind of love and pride for me. Blake was a lucky guy to have such a supportive family.
“Where is he anyway?” I asked and looked around again.
“Missing me that much, huh?” Blake’s voice came from behind me.
I turned to find him walking in from the direction I had come. Blake was in a tight white vest and a pair of black jeans. His hair was wet and slicked back. My mouth filled up with water from how tasty Blake looked right now.
Did I just think that?! What is happening to me!? I quickly swallowed my spit.
‘More like concerned you’ll catch pneumonia from walking around with wet hair. You don’t look sick anymore I don’t know if I was asking Blake or telling him, but he looked much better than when we got here.
“Oh, I’m not gonna get pneumonia. I feel better, actually. Maybe I was just missing home” he sat down on the chair next to me and smiled at me. But Blake’s smile didn’t reach his eyes; something was off.
Before I could say anything, Lawrence walked in.
“Madam, Master Nathaniel and Mr. Cooper have arrived.” He announced.
