I cleared my throat. This got Intense way too quickly.” My voice still came out in more of a whisper
Blake released me immediately and took a step back…
“Shit baby, I’m sorry.” He said and straightened his jacket. Those bloody endearments were making me even hotter.
“It’s okay. Thank you, though. For understanding. I really appreciate it.” I started picking up my bags again..
“That’s what you do in a relationship. Understand and support,” Blake replied and turned to grab his bags,
“Hey Blake, I forgot to ask you while we were in Huntly. Do you guys have wolves in the woods? I kept hearing the howling from the woods the whole times 1 was there. Plus, after we arrived, I saw a massive dog walking on the lawn. It was too big to be a dog, so I assumed it was a wolf after the howling I didn’t think wolves grew that big, though. Do they?”
Blake stood there staring at me. He had shock written all over–his face.
“What?” I asked.
T
“Umm.. yeah, the wolves in our region are a different breed. They grow a lot bigger than normal wolves, but they are harmless. We’ve never had any issues with them. Why are you asking? Did the wolf scare you?” His voice was a little shaky.
“Kinda. It might sound crazy, but the wolf looked right at me. It was like it knew I was standing at the door watching it. It was freaky.”
“Oh, don’t be scared. He’s harmless. I’m sure you saw the one mum and dad feed so often. He would have just popped around for food.*
“Ahh, right. Well, I wanted to explore the woods, but the thought of running into wolves diminished my desire” I started walking toward my room. Why was he defending a wolf?
“Okay, well, next time, maybe we can go to the area they don’t usually visit. It’s nice out there,” Blake called out as I walked down the hallway.
“I’m going for a run, babe. Be back in an hour,” he yelled before I walked into my room.
“Okay,” I yelled back.
I liked how active Blake was. He took care of himself. Even while we were at Huntly, he was up at 5 am every morning to go for a run. He would be gone for two hours. He said he loved running because it helped him burn anger and frustration and keep his inner animal calm. It was very quiet for those two hours, though. All the howling from the woods would stop. I don’t know if the events were related, but I got some sleep for those two hours, so I didn’t care.
I put my stuff away and stripped off to go shower. It felt nice to be back home. In my shower, my room. The Cooper Mansion was amazing, and I couldn’t flaw it, but it wasn’t home like this place was. On our drive back, Blake even asked if we could stay in Mariners Bay after the wedding.
We hadn’t had the chance to talk about anything else while we were in Huntly. Blake’s parents made it a mission to show me around the place and visit friends and family. Blake’s sister Emily was by my side the entire time. She said her family could be a little intimidated, so she was helping me adjust. Emily was 4 years younger than me and had a heart of gold. I could see the attachment between Blake and her.
However, there was one person I didn’t see. Blake’s brother. I remembered Blake telling me he was the guy that was knocking on Blake’s door after he had moved in but nowhere was he mentioned while we were in Huntly. I had to ask Blake about that.
I pushed that thought to the side and got into the shower. Maybe I could make us a nice dinner, and Blake and I could finally sit and talk about some stuff.

As I stirred the pan of spaghetti, I heard the main door open, revealing a sweaty Blake. His bare chest glistened with sweat making him look like he had stepped out of one of those gym commercials. I watched Blake’s torso muscles flex as he used the t–shirt scrunched in his▸ forehead before hanging it around his neck. My eyes raked through his half–naked body as a warm sensation spread throu abs, that toned chest, and his handsome face. Ugh!
