Chapter 91
Blake grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards the file room. He sat on the day bed and pulled me into his lap. He put his head on my shoulder and wrapped both arms around me, hugging me tightly. I placed one hand on his back and tangled my other hand in his hair on the back of his head.
“Max and I are twins. We used to be best friends, inseparable. Growing up we had so much fun together. Always getting into mischief. As for werewolves, being twins means you share a wolf spirit. Two bodies, one soul. Not just that, you are telepathically linked to each other. Dad always told us that high ranked wolves never had twins. It was very rare for a birthright to be shared. Keep in mind I was born 2 minutes before Max.”
“Usually at 16, we have our first transformation. Our bodies are matured and ready and the full moon triggers the change. Leading up to our 16th, dad and pops taught us everything we needed to know. We were ready and Max and I had decided we would do everything together. We didn’t care about the whole birthright thing.”
“The night of our first transformation came and once the moon was at its highest, my body started to change. It hurt like hell but in the end, my wolf took over and I finally met Leo, my wolf. When I turned around to find Max, he stood at the edge of the woods, still in his human form.”
“Turns out, I got the birthright and he was left human. He didn’t take that very well. He started to resent me and the older we got, the worse things got. We discovered that he had some powers, he was strong, had good hearing, he ran the high temperatures we did and like us, he aged slowly. The only thing he couldn’t do was turn into a wolf. To him, his powers didn’t matter if he couldn’t transform. He hated it.” Blake hung his head.
“He made it his life’s mission to ruin me. He pretended to be me and did all sorts of bad things. He made me look bad at school. He would pull nasty. pranks and blame me. He had sex with a teacher at a school he didn’t go to and framed me. He pretended to be me and fuxked Kyra on many occasions, He pretended to be me and fuxked a lot of my other girlfriends. He said that he was compensating for the one thing he didn’t get that I had and since he couldn’t share my wolf, he would share everything else.”
“Just after Kyra and I broke up, he finally calmed down a little. I think he felt my pain from the broken heart. It’s the first I’ve seen of him since.” Blake rubbed his face and sighed.
“What did he mean by “you haven’t marked her?“? I remembered his words.
Blake let out a bigger sigh and turned to me.
“Once you find a mate, you mark them to show others that they are yours. It’s like marking your territory so no one else can take it. Once we mate, I’ll mark you claiming you. But what Max meant was until I mark you, although you’re my mate, Max can still have his way with you. You are still half–human and that means the only way you’ll be able to tell the difference between us is by the mark. The mark pretty much becomes a repellent. If another guy tries to touch you, you will feel yuck and nauseous.”
Fuck sakes! What the hell was this?! Now I was the prize between feuding brothers.
“So you’re telling me, your asshole brother could convince me to sleep with him and I wouldn’t know the difference between the two of you?”
Blake looked up at me, he had regret written all over his face.
“I’m sorry Angel.” He hung his head again.
*Blake, I’m not ready for this whole mating and marking shit. There has to be another way? Maybe we’re just overthinking this. As you said, he’s left you alone this long, what’s to say he wasn’t just visiting?” I rubbed Blake’s back.
