Chapter 22 

The door opened before Mark could even tell them it was okay to enter. It was a good thing we were. not doing anything other than snuggling. In walks a petite looking woman, about 5 feet 4 inches, with shoulder length brown hair. She’s wearing a blue flowery skirt and a plain white top. She has one black flats and she had the aura of the Luna. Mark and I got up from the couch and walked around it to greet her. 

“Hello mom.” he said. 

“Hello dear.” She said to him, then she turned to me. She gave me a wide smile. 

“hello Oakley! I am so happy to finally meet you. I have been waiting for the day my son finds his mate and I couldn’t be happier that it is you!” She said pulling me into a hug. it was a motherly hug and it had been so long since I had had one of those. It felt so great, she pulled back and looked at me. 

“You look just like your mother. I grew up with her.” she said with a sad look in her eye. 

“Really? Can you tell me about her? I only remember bits and pieces from when I was little.” I asked her, hoping it wasn’t too much to ask for. 

“Of course my dear. We can have a lunch and I can invite a few of the ladies from the friend group we were all a part of with your mother growing up, I promise. For now though I wanted to discuss your Luna ceremony and see how much you knew so I know where to start your training at and what might be a repeat.” She told me. I hadn’t even thought of the Luna ceremony. It felt a little soon to me since I had just accepted the bond and we had not even marked each other yet. Mark must have read my thoughts because he spoke up then. 

“Mother, it is a little soon the be thinking about a Luna ceremony. We only just accepted the bond. We – haven’t even marked each other yet and i haven’t announced to the pack that I found my mate.” He said as me came up behind me, wrapping his arms around me. His scent surrounding me and his touch calmed my 

nerves. 

“Of course. We can at least discuss Luna training. She will need to be prepared to take over when it’s time.” She said smiling gently. 

“I have had all the training of a beta female since my previous mate was the beta in my last pack.” I told her. 

“That’s great! You will know most of what a Luna does then and there won’t be to much more for you to learn. We will go over it all though because some of it will be different.” She said. the beta females job was to support the Luna and assist her with anything she might need and be able to step on when the Luna

had to go away To other packs or when she needed some time off. That was not very often. 

“We will need to set up a time for every day, like a class, until I am sure that you know everything and are ready. We will meet in the Luna office. You will be able to decorate it in whatever way you would like She said. She looked really excited. We spent some time talking and agreed to meet around 10am every week day for now. After a few more moments we said our goodbyes and she left the room. It was getting close to dinner time and she wanted to check with the kitchen to see how they were getting atong 

“Well time has surely gotten away from us today.” Mark said, lookirig at his watch. 

“I am sorry.” I said Out of habit from my previous relationship. 

“What? There is absolutely no need for you to be sorry. If anything I am grateful that we got to spend this time together.” he said as he pulled me into his arms. 

“We should probably go to dinner though. A majority of the pack will be there. It will be the perfect time to introduce you as my mate, if you are okay with that.” He questioned. I like that he asked me if I was okay with it before just doing it. 

“Yea, that’s okay. I will need to call my grandparents though. They should probably know what is going on as well.” I told him. 

“Of course. I have a few papers I need to finish up before I head out there anyway. You can head there ahead of me if you would like.” He responded. He gave me a kiss and reluctantly removed his arms from around me. I could see in his eyes that he didn’t want to. I grabbed my handbag and phone and went out into the hallway. After taking a moment to compose myself from the giddy feeling I headed towards one of the pack house living rooms so I could call my grandparents. I dialed my grams number. 

“Oakley! I was starting to get a little worried. Is everything okay?” Grams asked as soon as she picked up. I could hear the worry in her voice. 

“Yes grams. everything is good. We were talking and time just got away from us. I also met luna Angela.” I told her, hoping to ease her worries some. 

“Oh good. She is so nice Isn’t she?” She asked. 

“Yes and she said she grew up with mom and that I look just like her.” I replied. 

“Yes dear, you look very much like her. I have some photo albums that you can look through of her when she was younger and we can tell you some stories about her as well.” Grams said with a hint of sadness in her voice. 

“I would like that very much.“I said. there was a few moments of silence before she finally spoke. 

“Are you coming home or did you want to have dinner at the pack house with the other members who will be there?” She inquired. 

“I will be having dinner here. Alpha mark will be introducing me as his mate.” I told her. I waited a few seconds for that to sink in and for her to realize what i had just said.

“Oh my goddess that’s great! Your grandfather and I will be there as well We will head & exclaimed, I could hear the excitement in her voice. We said our goodbyes and I went to find a resto before dinner. I found one near the dining hall. After using the bathroom and washing my hangs I left ba bathroom to head to the dining hall. The aromas of steak, roast and potato’s, along with fresh bread and variety of veggies filled my nose. it smelled fantastic. I could also smell a variety of desserts as well, I was looking forward to dinner. Just at that moment Melissa and her mate walked in. 

“Oakley! It’s so good to see you! I tried to text you today.” She greeted me with a hug. 

“Sorry, I had lunch with alpha mark today.” I told her with a shy grin. she just smiled knowingly 

“So tonight’s dinner will have a special announcement then?” She questioned. I just nodded, she smiled big, linking her arm with mine we walked into the dining hall together.
