Chapter 68
Roman
As Detective Timothy and I walk to the cells, I reach out to get a feel for the pack. Samara and Ayla still have their aura over thern, keeping them calm. However, I can feel the unrest, the frustration that their Alpha has been held captive for nearly a week.
I nod at my warriors as I pass them at the doorway of the cells then we jog down to the underground holding area. Up here in the north, the cells can get very cold. Usually, as wolves, we don’t feel the cold, but when you have been sitting in a cold, damp, dark cell for days, the cold eventually begins to seep into your bones. I’ve used the tactic to punish several wolves in my pack over the years. And it seems to have worked on Dylan as well.
When I get to the bottom of the stairs, I see Dylan sitting on a cot, his head in his hands. He immediately looks up then stands and comes to the edge of the cell.
“Roman, what the fuck is going on? Why did your father come here with warriors and put me in this cell? Don’t tell me you’ve turned on me,” he growls.
“An interesting statement, coming from you,” I say, stopping in front of him.
He glances at Timothy. “What is that supposed to mean?”
“It means I know about Sawyer. I know he killed Theo and orchestrated the attack that killed the Brenners.”
Because I’m looking for it, I see the flash in his eyes. It’s only for a moment before he schools his features, but it’s enough for me to know that I was right.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Where were you that night?”
“I was here.”
“You didn’t answer Alpha Royal’s call for help?”
“I sent Sawyer and my warriors to help him. You know that Roman. What is this about? Why are you accusing Sawyer of killing Theo? He was as much Theo’s friend as he was yours, Roman.”
“Apparently, he wasn’t. The question I have, though, is how much did you know?”
“I don’t know anything about what you’re talking about,” he growls.
“Because I’ve been wondering what it is that you had to gain in all of this,” I say, ignoring him. “I mean, I get it, Sawyer was your brother. You would rather him betray his friend and take that pack than try to take this one from you,” I say pacing in front of his cell as I speak.
“What do you mean ‘was‘ my brother. He still is my brother,” he growls. This time the tone is more vicious. I still ignore him.
“So what else was there? Financially, you weren’t doing very well back then, were you?”
“Where is Sawyer?” he growls, ignoring me now.
“But the Brenner’s pack, now that pack was the wealthiest in the region, possibly in the country. They had that greenhouse and were established distributors across all the packs. So, you give Sawyer your warriors to take out the Brenners in exchange for money, to save your pack?”
“My pack was fine. It still is.”
“Well, we’ll find out once we go through your financials if that’s really the case but I doubt it. It took me a while to figure out your motives, but then I remembered how jealous you and Sawyer were when the businesses I built to honor the Brenners started doing so well. What was the ultimate goal, Dylan? Were you going to kill me and take my pack too? Make yourselves the most powerful duo in the werewolf world?”
“Where is Sawyer?”

“He probably expected that by his brother mating a white woll, no one would be able to defeat them. Maybe they wanted more than just a lear pa Maybe they intended to take over all the northern parks eventually. Man, that must have really sucked for them when you started getting rich (be the were waiting for you to bankrupt yourself and then they were going to swoop in and take your pack,” Untertive Timothy says.
“Who the fuck are you?” Dylan says, a permanent sneer on his face.
“Detective Timothy, I was the one who came in and identified those bones in the secret corridor.”
“What the fuck is he talking about?” Dylan asks me. This time, I can tell that he doesn’t know.
“What, Sawyer never told you that Althea found her fated mate and killed him, then buried his body in the Alpha’s secret escape corridor? That never came up in conversation?”
He snaps his teeth together audibly.
“I’m guessing that Sawyer also didn’t tell you that Althea lost her white wolf because of it. She betrayed the Moon Goddess, along with all of us, and Gillian paid the price.”
He turns, walking back in his cell, running his fingers through his hair before turning back.
“Where is Althea now?”
“With Sawyer, wherever those who betray the Moon Goddess go when they die.”
“YOU SON OF A BITCH!” he screams, grabbing for me through the cell bars. The smell of his burning skin is worse than the sound of his skin sizzling on
the silver.
I lean forward. “I’d rather be a son of a bitch than a friend who betrays the ones who trusted him.”
“All you had to do was drink yourself to death or lose one fight when you went barreling into those packs, or bankrupt your fucking pack! But you never did. It was like the Moon Goddess was favoring you. You and Theo, you always had it so fucking easy. Well Sawyer and I agreed. We wanted our share. We DESERVED it!” he snarls.
“How’s that working out for you?” I snarl back.
“I told him we should have killed you. Back then, it would have been so easy. You were making enemies left and right searching for the young Brenner girl. Like she could have survived on her own. But you just wouldn’t stop.”
“No, I never did. And you know what, Dylan. My persistence paid off. I found Samara and it turns out that I am blessed by the Moon Goddess, because she’s my mate. She didn’t forsake the Moon Goddess, so she’s the last of the white wolves. She’s the one who witnessed Sawyer killing Theo. She’s been wanting revenge for as long as I have and you, Dylan, are my last loose end.”
“What about Priscilla and the pups? Are you going to kill them too. Did you kill Sawyer’s pups?”
“Sawyer and Althea’s pups now live with us. They will grow up in a loving family where they belong. I’ve already spoken to Priscilla and told her what you did. I don’t kill innocents unlike you and Sawyer, so they are free to go.”
“Killing me will kill her,” he growls.
“She’s going to reject you and if you care at all about your pups and your mate, you’ll accept it before I kill you. Let’s go,” I say, gesturing for the war open the door to the cell.
I’m ready when he leaps at me. I grab him by the throat, watching his eyes go wide as Pierce extends his claws into his throat, just enough to let him know that I’ll kill him if he attacks me.
“Surprised at how strong I am? That’s part of being mated to a white wolf, a good and true wolf. She has shared her power with me. Too bad Sawyer never got to feel what this is like. Being mated to Samara is like being in the Moon Goddess‘ realm. It’s fucking nirvana every minute of every day.” I say, still holding him off the floor as I climb back up the stairs.

Chapter 68
When I get to the top of the stairs, the pack is standing around, waiting.
“Everyone outside now!” I bark.
I see Priscilla standing beside Samara. She has an arm around each of her daughters. The girls
“Say goodbye to your girls,” I growl at him.
He looks to the side, and I shift so he can face them, but I don’t release him.
“Goodbye girls. I will always love you,” he says.
are cryin
and Priscilla looks stricken.
‘Keep the girls inside, Samara. They don’t need to see this,’ I say in the mind link.
She nods, and crouches in front of the girls. I continue walking outside until we’re far enough away so that the girls can’t look out and see us.
I walk in front of the crowd and put Dylan on his knees in front of me, facing them. Detective Timothy barrier around me.

“Your Alpha has been found guilty of betraying the Brenner family. He, his brother Sawyer, and the oldest Brenner, Althea, all conspired together to kill the rest of the Brenner family and forcibly take their pack. I vowed to find the ones responsible and make them pay. Your Alpha has confessed to me with Detective Timothy present,” I say, addressing the pack.
I see the shock on their faces, feel it in the air around us.
“Why?” someone asks.
“For money. For power. You were right about one thing, Dylan. You should have killed me when you had the chance. I would never have stopped searching for the ones who did this. We were always going to end up here,” I say to him.
I look up and see Priscilla. Her hands are shaking but her chin is up and the tears in her eyes haven’t yet fallen.
I nod and she steps forward. “I, Luna Priscilla Clark, reject you, Alpha Dylan Clark as my mate and Alpha,” she says, grabbing onto her heart. To her credit, she doesn’t collapse.
“Accept it,” she whispers.
“I always loved you, Priscilla. Always. I, Alpha Dylan Clark, accept your rejection,” he says and this time, her knees give out. Detective Timothy growls beside me then leaps to catch her before she hits the ground.
I hear her gasp, but I focus on Dylan.

“Aipha Dylan, you have been found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder of the Alpha Royal, Luna Jessica, and Alpha heir Theodore. For your crimes, I sentence you to death.”
I raise my hand above my head, Pierce extending his claws, and in one hard swipe, I remove Dylan’s head from his body.
