Chapter 168
“Itave you lost your mind, you old hag?! Blake roated.
“There is no way I will agree to this. Rosy is my destined mate. I love her more than life itself. I would rather die than marry that bitches
Blake was shaking with rage. His eyes went dark, and I felt his body stiffen.
“Well then, you can sit back and watch her die,” Cynthia shouted.
“Evelyn, there are consequences for such disrespect towards your King.” Klaus growled.
“I’m a dead woman regardless, Klaus. So I might as well make my granddaughter’s life better. If Blake doesn’t accept my offer, then I will not lift the suppressant from Rosy. Take it or leave it” Evelyn was determined.
“Klaus there must be another way?!” Blake snapped.
I sunk back into my seat, trying to wrap my head around what was happening. My heart ached at the thought of losing Blake. The last few months bad taken so much from me; I couldn’t bear to lose one more person.
“Sorry, King Cooper. But the kind of suppressant Rosy has can only be lifted by the witch that cast it” Klaus hung his head.
“Grandma, why are you taking Cynthia’s side? She’s a spoiled brat, and you know that. She can have any guy she wants. Separating Blake and Rosy will bring unbalance to the way of life. You, a protector of the way of life, can not participate in causing the unbalance. I will not let you and Cynthia ruin another life.” Mia yelled.
“I have already caused the unbalance by placing a suppressant on Rosy. She was meant to bring balance, Mia. Her existence is so that she can take her mother’s birthright. By suppressing her wolf, I stopped her from taking that birthright.”
“Eve-…..” Kendyl started.
“STOP!” I screamed. My head was pounding, and I couldn’t stand the bickering anymore.
“I think I have the right to decide what should or shouldn’t happen. It’s my body and my fiance,” I interrupted.
“Rosy, you will die if she doesn’t lift the spell.” Rocky finally spoke from behind me, gently squeezing my shoulder. I could hear the fear in his voice.
“I know, Rocky. But I will die regardless. As Evelyn said, whatever mum was running from, it will catch up to me at some point, whether it’s the suppressant that kills me or my mother’s perilous past. I will die. Now, I can choose to die in the arms of the man I love, or I can be all sad and alone, waiting for whatever evil is coming my way.” I croaked, my voice breaking in certain places.
I stood up on my wobbly legs. Blake immediately wrapped his arms around me for support. I smiled concern. Yet, swimming between that concern was the love and admiration he had for me.
I up at him. Blake’s glassy angry eyes were filled with
I reached out and cupped his face, stroked his cheek with my thumb. He leaned into my touch and closed his eyes, a low growl vibrating through his chest.
At that moment, I had made up my mind. There was no way I was going to let someone el
s stupidity ruin my
life.
I turned away from Blake and looked at the old lady and her goddess of a granddaughter.
“Evelyn, thank you for telling me about my history. You risked your life to keep my mother and me safe, and I will be forever grateful for that. Until now, I had thought my biggest problem in life was my mother’s promiscuous career. I was so ashamed of it and thought that the worse life could get. But now I see how wrong I was. Death is knocking on my door, and my life is filled with pretentious assholes. What’s the worst that can happen now, right?” “huckled as a tear slid down my cheek. I was terrified on the inside and trying to downplay everything.
“Angel..” Blake objected, and I stopped him.
