Chapter 190
Blake’s expression changed, and he turned to look at Max. Max, on the other hand, started to walk away
It broke my heart watching him so Sullen.
“Max” Blake called.
“You win, Blake. You always win! You got everything. All the powers and status handed to you on a silver platter. And I got left behind with nothing. While you had people kissing your feet, I had to find my feet. Do you have any idea how hard it is when you are mediocre and look exactly like your powerful brother? People look at you with expectation. They question why I’m not exactly like my brother. I worked hard to get to where I am today, but yet again, I am left empty–handed. Why is Selene so cruel?!” Max’s voice broke a little.
My heart broke even more. I gently pushed Blake, urging him to go to his brother.
Blake sighed and walked over to Max. He reached out and squeezed Max’s shoulder.
“You and I haven’t been on the best terms for so long. I know it’s my fault because I got so carried away with becoming King I didn’t realize I was leaving you behind. I wanted us to rule together, to build our territory together. I’m sorry I failed to convey that message. Forgive me, brother. Forgive me * Blake sighed, turning Max to look at him.
Tears slid down Max’s cheeks.
“I should be the one asking for forgiveness. I’ve made your life hell, stooping as low as trying to kill your mate. I’m sorry too,” Max sobbed, pulling Blake into a hug.
Watching the boys patch up filled my heart with so much joy.
“Well, that’s just beautiful, isn’t it” a voice echoed through the room.
We all looked around to find where the voice was coming from.
At the main door stood six men dressed in all black clothing. The six men moved aside, and from behind them, another guy walked in. he too was dressed in black clothing, but instead of just black jeans and a t–shirt like the others, he was wearing a three–piece black suit.
Max growled loudly, his body tensing up.
The man chuckled but kept walking towards us.
“I should be the one getting mad, Max. After all, you betrayed me and turned your back on the deal we had.” the guy spoke.
The closer he got, the clearer his face got for me. He looked older and had handsome features. His dark hair was tousled, and all the tattoos visible on his body made him look badass.
“You shouldn’t be here,” Max growled, clenching his fists.
“And you were meant to kill this girl and her mother. I had to do half the work for you, so I guess it’s all about not doing things we’re supposed to,” the man replied, his eyes scanning the room.
What did he mean half the job?!
“You killed Bethany?” Blake growled, pulling me behind him.
“I will neither agree nor deny that. You must be/Max’s estranged twin brother.”
Max moved closer to Blake, both of them becoming a human shield before me.
I felt a presence behind me. The coven members had formed a semi–circle behind me, caging me in.
“So much protection for one worthless soul,” the man snickered

“Max!” Blake looked at his brother.
Max ground his teeth so hard you could hear it.
“Amon,” Max hissed.
