Chapter 106
HAZEL’S POV
Whatever that name meant and whoever it belonged to deserved a medal for what it did to Darian.
His face fell for the first time since I met him and his eyes looked haunted by the memories of the person who carried the name. There was emotion in his eyes and for the first time it wasn’t hatred or a sadistic playfulness, it was something softer, something deeper, and something more painful.
I was sitting on the floor in the same spot where he left me and I didn’t know what to do. I raked my fingers through my hair and looked at my knees that I pulled to my chest.
The flowers were still scattered on the floor and one of the roses was flattened against the floor after he stepped on it on his way out.
Instead of sitting and pondering whatever the hell was happening, I decided to get up and tidy the room a bit. I put the table back in the nock and picked up the sharp pieces of the broken vase.
The flower stems were broken and the petals were falling off so I made a small bouquet in my hand and threw them in the trash.
When the flowers landed on the bottom of the plastic bag in the golden bucket they reminded me of the darkness in his eyes. The lilac colors of the petals took me back to when we mated, my bruises were the same color as the flower petals.
They switched between blue and lilac, a beautiful color palette otherwise but not at that moment. Not on my skin.
I know now what it was that I saw in his eyes, what it was that made me choke on my breath; it was humanity.
But whatever humanity he might have deep inside of him, hidden away in some royal treasure chest, did little good to show itself now. It was too late.
All I could think about was Zade and how I needed him to come back before Darian returned.
“Glad to know I’m needed,”
I screamed when his dark voice rustled out in the corner of the room.
Zade leaned back against the wall with his feet crossed and a toothpick between his teeth.
The blood rushed to my face and my skin grew warm under his gaze. His cobalt eyes sparkled in the dark and his smile sent a dangerous chill down my chest and my core when he pushed off from the wall.
“How do you do that?” I asked breathlessly.
He walked closer and placed his hand on my cheek. I leaned into it, a little more than I should but I felt safe in his presence. At least I didn’t close my eyes and fall asleep on him, I took that as a restraint.
“Do what?” He grinned.
“Come and go like that. You disappear into thin air,”
Zade took out the toothpick and leaned in; he pressed his lips on my forehead and my eyes fluttered close.
He leaned back and something flashed in his eyes before he winked and licked his lips.
“I’m a demon,” his voice was monotone and dark.
I watched him, scanned his face and his glimmering eyes and I noticed how the cobalt deepened.
It took a moment but then I laughed, quietly because if somebody heard me I was as good as dead and Zade laughed with me.
“If you’re a demon then I’m an angel,” I laughed.

Chapter 106
“You are,” he said and stopped laughing.
We gazed into each other’s eyes in that special way that you’re supposed to be able to do with the man you’re with but I hadn’t ever experienced it. it wasn’t that I was in love with Zade, he was just a nice change.
All I knew was the dark, uncertain, sadistic eyes of Darian the Lycan King and even though I saw something else earlier, I knew who he was and I knew how much he loved his games.
I took a deep breath and gathered my thoughts.
It was now or never..
“Tell me what I need to do to get rid of him,” I whispered.
Zade stepped back and heaved a breath. His eyes held mine while he reached back into his pocket, took out something wrapped in a torn brown cloth, and carefully unfolded the edges. The polished tip of a blade was the first thing I saw and then the handle on which it was attached. Ruby red stones decorated the thin silver handle which fit perfectly in my small hand, “you will need to catch him off guard,”
I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
“Yes because that signifies Darian, someone who is easily caught off guard,”
Zade cupped my cheek and folded my fingers around the blade before pushing my hand down to my side.
“I hate myself for even saying this but there is one situation where every man lowers his guard. You will have just enough time to stab the knife into him,”
That’s insane, I couldn’t do that. Everything was spinning out of control and I couldn’t believe that we were even having this conversation even though I was the one who asked for it.
My hand started shaking and the knife almost fell but Zade grabbed my hand and held me steady.
“You stab him and I will take care of the rest. That’s all you have to do; stab him and then you’re done. You will finally be free to choose whoever and whatever you want in life,” his eyes went between mine and my lips and my hand slowly stopped shaking.
