Chapter 100 Dream On
What on earth gave him the nerve to think I’d agree to such an absurd demand? Does he think I’m an i***? He’s already planning to pimp me out to someone else for their amusement, and he expects me to eagerly help him scheme? Do I really come off as that gullible?‘
Cadell was visibly stunned that, even at this point, I’d still stand my ground so firmly.
My response was miles away from what he’d anticipated, and I could easily see the anger contorting his
expression.
But since he needed me, he couldn’t unleash his temper as freely as he had before.
It seemed the progress in the collaboration between Cyril and the Prosperity Group had shaken him more
than I thought.
He tried to sweet–talk me, his voice soft and pleading, “Aurora, don’t you trust me? Relax. If you can just, convince Mr. Hodge to assign me more projects, I’ll save you without fail once I solidify my position as the
Hartman family heir.”
I kept my face neutral, a sly, mocking grin tugging at my lips. I didn’t say a word, but my message couldn’t
have been clearer.
Cadell’s fake smile was slipping, and as it grew stiffer, I finally broke the silence with a cold, biting retort,
“Cadell, dream on.”
My words hit him like a slap. He lashed out, slamming his foot against the cage with a thunderous crash, as
if the noise alone could intimidate me.
But I’ve seen far worse. His petty antics were pathetically amateur.
Seeing that I remained unfazed, Cadell completely lost it. He gritted his teeth, his voice low and threatening,
“Aurora, don’t make me do something I’ll regret!“,
I stared him down, my confidence unshaken. “You won’t dare.”
He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. “True, you’re about to be Philip’s little toy. Until he tires of
you, I can’t touch you. But Aurora, have you ever considered that your beauty won’t last forever? When you’re past your prime, do you think Philip will still care about you?”
He let the words hang in the air before continuing, “And let’s be honest, do you really think that’s a place
worth going? Philip showed you those photos, didn’t he? What makes you think you’re any different from
those women? What makes you believe you can escape the inevitable fate that awaits you?”
Seeing him drop the act, I let out a light chuckle. “Yes, from the moment you decided to sacrifice me to Philip, my miserable fate was sealed, Cadell. Do I need to remind you? This is all because of you. So, what makes you think I’d ever lift a hand to help you? Do you even deserve it?”
Cadell’s words stuck in his throat, and he stared at me, breathing heavily, clearly seething with anger.
I remained composed, my eyes/devoid of any fear. After all, I was certain that such a fate would never befall
- me.
Cadell glared at me, his voice cold and threatening. “Aurora, you might not fear death, but what about your

mother?”
I met his gaze with cold composure, a chilling resolve flickering in my eyes.
I wasn’t a pushover, Cadell had kept using my mother to threaten me, and I’d remember every word. Once I was done with my current tasks, I’d make sure he regretted every word he’d said today.
He let out a chilling laugh, speaking each word with deliberate precision. “Your mother’s condition–I can cure it. I have medicine that can ease her suffering. Aurora, you’re aware of the Hartman family’s underground operations. You know what we can do. For a condition like your mother’s, we certainly have the cure.”
I almost laughed at his shamelessness. Of course, he had the cure–my mother had been one of the Hartman family’s underground experiments all along!
If Cadell had truly wanted to help, he could’ve given it to me ages ago, back when we were in love.
Sure, back then, he couldn’t reveal the truth about their operations. But if he’d genuinely wanted to help my mother, he could’ve slipped me the medicine in secret. Would I have questioned where it came from? Even if I had, couldn’t he have spun some harmless lie?
But he didn’t.
From the very beginning, he’d never truly cared about me or my struggles.
Or maybe, those seven years of what I thought was love had been nothing but my own delusion. Cadell had
never valued it, not even a little.
Even before we’d turned against each other, he’d never bothered to put on even a façade of concern. So, why would I ever believe that a lowlife like him would save my mother after I helped him?
It was all too ridiculous.
I, Aurora, never left my fate in someone else’s hands. What I wanted, I’d fight for myself.
Cadell’s offer might have tempted me, but I wasn’t about to fall for it.
With the full resources of Prosperity Group, a cure was inevitable. Besides, Philip surely had the antidote too. Why on earth would I let a lowlife like Cadell dictate my fate?
There’s always more than one way out in this world.
Cadell, sensing the defiance in my expression, tightened his grip on my wrist, his voice boiling with rage. “Aurora, once you’re with Mr. Hodge, do you really think anyone will care about your mother? If you don’t cooperate, I’ll ensure her death is excruciating!”
He sneered, his words dripping with malice. “Do you really think your mother could survive the shame of her. daughter being some rich man’s toy?”
I chuckled softly. “Go ahead and try?
He’d never find my mother. I knew exactly what the Hartman family was capable of, and I wasn’t foolish enough to leave such a vulnerability out in the open.
Calmly, I locked eyes with Cadell. “Cadell, if I play this game right, Philip will be smitten with me for a while. Do you think that’s enough time to topple you from your precious perch as the Hartman heir?”
Cadell’s face went white as a sheet, his eyes bulging with terror.

I tilted my head, a sly grin curling at the corners of my mouth. “Cadell, you’re not half es sharp as you think Right now, you should be the one on your knees, begging for my mercy
