Chapter 107 How’s This for a Gift?
Philip’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly, and his eyes darkened instantly. I could see the burning desire
smoldering in his gaze.
After all, just moments ago, I had been standing toe–to–toe with him, defiant and unyielding. Now, here I was, pleading with him in a pitiful, dazed manner, begging for his help.
This stark contrast was a temptation no man could resist.
Especially since, in Philip’s mind, Darian had feelings for me. The thought of possessing the woman his enemy desired must have filled him with immense satisfaction.
I was certain he would fall right into my trap.
Sure enough, in the next second, Philip’s fingers grazed against my ear, his touch lingering as he pinched my
earlobe. His voice was low, almost a growl, as he asked, “Aurora, what kind of drugs did the Hartman family
inject into you?”
I suppressed the bile rising in my throat and forced myself to look up at him, my voice trembling as I
stammered, “I… I don’t know.”
Then, I clung to him, burying my face against his chest. My voice was barely a whisper, trembling with fear,
as I said, “They gave me two injections. I don’t know what they were, but they said if I don’t get relief within
two days, I’ll die.”
I laid my entire life–my weaknesses, my fears–bare before Philip.
His deep ties with the Hartman family meant he knew exactly what those drugs were–and he knew every
word I spoke was true.
After all, who would suspect a woman who was teetering on the edge of death?
Philip knew the Hartman family’s methods inside out. He wouldn’t doubt me for a second–everything I said
was true.
And something this secretive? If the Hartman family hadn’t done it, I wouldn’t have a clue.
So now, Philip was utterly convinced that I was at the mercy of those drugs.
All he could think about was claiming me for himself.
When a man is blinded by I**t, he becomes careless, oblivious to the dangers lurking around him.
He wouldn’t even pause to consider whether I was truly drugged.
I lowered my gaze, my body language softening into a picture of vulnerability.
With a pitiful touch, I let my fingers trace the lines of his waist and abdomen. Despite the disgust churning lum
my gut, I couldn’t deny that he was in peak physical condition.
Let me be clear–I felt nothing but contempt for him.
I was imagining how sweet his screams would sound as I drove a blade into his flesh.
Every ounce of pain he’d inflicted on those women–and my sister–I would make him repay, piece by b****y
piece.

My actions clearly delighted Philip. He was completely oblivious to the looming danger, his eyes narrowing slightly as he purred, “Aurora, do you want me that badly?”
I stayed silent, letting my hand drift from his abdomen to his chest in a slow, deliberate motion.
Philip basked in my touch, nuzzling into the curve of my neck and breathing in my scent deeply. “So Cadel! even gave you this perfume? How thoughtful. Looks like I’m in for a memorable night,” he remarked, his voice dripping with satisfaction.
My eyes flashed briefly. So it was the fragrance that had made Philip drop his guard around me. I suppose !
should thank Cadell for that.
Still silent, I let my fingers drift higher, settling on his collarbone. One more move, and I’d have my fingers on his neck, feeling the pulse racing under my touch, ready to decide his fate.
Philip remained blissfully unaware of the danger. He straightened up slightly, his eyes half–closed as he savored my touch. Then, I felt his hand rest on my waist.
Even through the fabric, his touch felt icy and slimy, like a poisonous snake tightening its grip around me. It was utterly repulsive.
In the shadows, I could still feel the watchful eyes fixed on me, the barrels of guns trained on my forehead and heart. One misstep, and a bullet would tear through me, splattering the air with a burst of red.
My expression remained unchanged, pleading as I gazed at Philip. “Please, help me,” I whispered, my voice barely audible.
Then, I leaned in, pressing a kiss to his collarbone. My surrender visibly pleased him, drawing a low, satisfied sigh from his lips. “Honestly, Aurora, I’m starting to regret promising you to Darian. You’re flawless–every inch of you,” he murmured, his voice thick with desire,
A soft blush crept across my cheeks, and I moved closer, my lips brushing against his Adam’s apple. Philip’s hand crept up my waist, but I snatched his wrist just before it reached my chest.
That was where I’d concealed the freshly loaded, g*n. If Philip found it, my carefully laid plan would crumble to pieces. I couldn’t let that happen.
My interruption clearly annoyed him, and his brow furrowed instantly. I quickly soothed him, “Let me handle it, alright? I want to unwrap myself, like a present, just for you.”
Philip’s eyebrow quirked slightly, his gaze fixed on me. “You’re really trying to please me, aren’t you?”
I nodded softly, whispering, “I need your help.”
Before I could finish, Philip’s expression shifted to one of understanding. He knew–not only did I need him as a cure, but I was after information about 0687. Of course, he’d figured that out.
He stayed silent, watching with a smug look as I played my role. I leaned in, awkwardly kissed him, and he reveled in my efforts, completely absorbed.
As he was completely absorbed, I used his body as a shield, making sure the watchers in the distance couldn’t see my next move. In one swift motion, I drew the handgun.
Philip’s instincts kicked in–his eyes narrowed sharply. But it was too late! The hand that had been caressing his collarbone shot to his throat, my full strength pinning him to the ground. The g*n’s warm barrel pressed against his forehead as the haze in my eyes cleared, replaced by an icy, unyielding glare.

As he stared in shock, a sly smirk crept onto my lips. “Philip,” I said, my tone laced with mockery, “how do you
like your gift?”
