Chapter 123 Living Without Dignity
He quickly snapped back to reality and asked Charles, “Does this matter have anything to do with Aurora?
Charles nodded, “Will you do it?”
I heard Cyril say, “Don’t worry, I’ll get the job done.”
Charles‘ smile grew even more satisfied, but I knew Cyril’s words weren’t meant for him–they were meant for
- me.
I couldn’t help but smile slightly.
I’d already secured all the evidence I needed, and I’d made multiple backups to ensure nothing was lost.
These were key evidence to bring down the Hartman family, so of course, I had to keep them safe.
Charles spoke to Cyril with a cheerful tone, “But it’ll take some effort on your part. You’ll need to get close to Aurora and find a way to lure her out from under Philip’s watch. Otherwise, we won’t be able to make our
move.”
Cyril paused briefly beforè replying, “Father, if I remember correctly, the day after tomorrow is Galian‘ engagement party, right? Philip should be attending, shouldn’t he?”
At this, Charles‘ eyes lit up instantly, “Exactly! Philip has strong business ties with Galian. There’s no way he’d miss the engagement party! And Philip loves to parade his playthings around, disguised as girlfriends. This time, Aurora will definitely be there!”
I couldn’t help but smirk–Charles had bitten the hook.
He excitedly continued, “The party will be chaotic. One woman’s death won’t be pinned on us. I can even take this opportunity to gift him a few more obedient ones. Who knows? If Philip’s in a good mood, we might even get back the projects we lost!”
Charles grew more and more animated, as if he’d already convinced himself this was a done deal.
I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. If Charles knew that the man he’d been trying to cozy up to was now locked in a cage like a dog, would he still be this thrilled?
Just the thought of it was amusing.
I could hear the hint of amusement in Cyril’s voice as well, “Yeah, once the party’s done, everything will be
set.”
Charles laughed heartily, clearly thrilled at the thought of my demise.
I chuckled softly. The end of the party would spell the end for the Hartman family. The moment I found my sister, I’d personally make sure every last one of them was thrown behind bars!
‘Go ahead and laugh, Charles. Your time’s running out.‘
Charles kept Cyril talking for quite a while before he finally left. I watched as Cyril returned to his room and slipped on his headphones. I couldn’t help but chuckle softly, and I praised, “Cyril, you’re really amazing.”
He let out a low laugh, and with the headphones on, his voice seemed to echo right beside my ear. “You’re
pretty great yourself.”

He spoke cautiously, keeping his voice low, clearly wary that Charles’s people might still be watching him. Hearing his whispered words, I couldn’t shake the odd, almost secretive feeling that came over me. It felt like we were sneaking around, as if we were in some f*******n romance.
I couldn’t help but laugh quietly. Hearing me, his voice softened with amusement. “Just wait for me, okay? I have someone take you back to the Hodge family tonight. Be ready to come back first thing the day after
I hummed in agreement. “Alright.”
With that, the camera feed in front of me went black. Cyril must have turned it off. It made sense–though
Charles trusted him now, he’d still have eyes on him. One wrong move, and Charles would be on us. For now,
it was best for both of us to stay under the radar and avoid giving anyone a reason to suspect us. Only then
could we ensure our plan would go off without a hitch.
Not long after our call ended, a knock came at my door. I pulled back the curtain and glanced outside. The
rain was pouring down, heavy and relentless–perfect cover for slipping out unnoticed. I opened the door to
find a man with an utterly forgettable face, the kind of person who’d blend into a crowd and be forgotten
easily. He was the perfect guy for undercover work.
As soon as he saw me, he pulled a yellow badge from his pocket–the emblem of Knightfall Group. I relaxed
and followed him without a second thought.
Soon enough, I was back at Philip’s estate. With nothing pressing to do, I decided to check in on him. He was
in worse shape than I’d expected. He looked utterly broken, his legs cramped from being confined in a cage
for so long. His body was littered with wounds–some from whips, others from burns. It was clear these were
the handiwork of the women we’d rescued. I recognized the marks–I’d seen them on their bodies before.
0528 saw me. She gave a faint smile and said, “Sorry, I couldn’t resist. I gave him a few scars.”
I chuckled softly. “He had it coming.” A sly grin spread across my face.
Philip slowly raised his head at the sound of our voices, his eyes locking onto mine before his expression
turned frantic. “Aurora! Release me! My team is close to perfecting the serum! If you don’t release me now, I’l
order them to destroy it–understand?!”
Even now, he was still trying to threaten me.
I let out a soft sigh and replied coolly, “Go ahead, then. Destroy it. If you’re okay with living like this–utterly humiliated–until your organs fail and you waste away…”
Before I could finish, Philip’s face paled drastically.
A moment later, a foul stench filled the air. I glanced down to see a puddle of yellow liquid spreading beneath
him.
I let out a mocking laugh. That serum was truly potent. Even a man in his prime couldn’t hold it together after taking it.
What kind of torment had my mother endured because of it?
A hollow, numb expression flickered across Philip’s face, as if he’d long grown accustomed to this humiliation.
I smirked slowly, my voice dripping with sarcasm. “Who would’ve imagined the great young master of the Hodge family reduced to this pitiful state? Did you ever think this day would come when you treated my sister

like your plaything?”
Philip’s eyes snapped back to me, wide with panic.
I tilted my head, a sly grin spreading across my face. “How entertaining would it be if I posted a video of you wetting yourself online?”
In an instant, he broke down, his voice hoarse and desperate as he screamed my name. “Aurora!!”
