Chapter 28 Please Have Mercy on Me
Lorna clearly didn’t heed my advice and kept cursing me furiously. I couldn’t be bothered to read them anymore, so I simply blocked her.
As for what her expression would be when she realized she couldn’t send any more messages, I didn’t care to
think about it.
Sure enough, just as I expected, that night I received a video from Cyril.
It seemed like he was trying to please me; the camera was positioned so close that I could clearly see the
expression on Cadell’s face.
At first, his face showed confusion, but after hearing the police’s explanation, his eyes filled with fear.
I saw him desperately defending himself, “No! You’ve got the wrong person! I didn’t do any of this! It’s Aurora,
that wicked woman, who framed me!”
After hearing his defense, the police officer frowned, “The evidence is irrefutable. Are you still trying to deny
it?”
Lorna stood nearby, seemingly frozen in shock, her eyes brimming with tears. Seeing her expression, I
couldn’t help but smile.
‘Lorna, I heard your perfect little life is about to fall apart. How do you feel about that? Isn’t that just thrilling?‘
Cadell struggled desperately; he didn’t want to go to jail. I could understand that, since he was now the future heir of the Hartman family. If he really went to prison, the family’s reputation would be ruined for good.
From then on, whenever the Hartman family was mentioned, people would immediately think of the heir with
a criminal record.
This would undoubtedly destroy their reputation.
Albert was the first to react. He calmly said to the police, “Officer, this might be a misunderstanding. Could I have another chance to investigate? If Cadell really did these things, I won’t try to stop you.”
The police officer coldly replied, “The victim has provided clear evidence. There’s no misunderstanding. Please don’t obstruct official duties.”
Once those words were spoken, there was no room for negotiation.
Albert’s face immediately darkened, and Cadell’s mother, Helen, also became frantic.
She opened her mouth to say something, but the police officer impatiently interrupted her, “Obstructing official duties is a crime. Do you want to go with him as well?”
Hearing this, Albert and Helen fell silent.
At this point, Cadell was completely panicking. He angrily shouted, “This is all Aurora’s conspiracy! How dare she call the police? I’ll never let her get away with this!”
As he cursed me, he was furious, as if wishing for me to suffer immediately.
The police officer kicked him, “Quiet down!”
Cadell had no choice but to stop cursing in rage, his face twisted in anger.

Watching all of this, I felt a sense of relief. Throughout the entire process of Cadell being taken away, Lorna didn’t say a word.
But her face was pale, and her eyes were full of calculation. From what I knew of her, she was probably already thinking about how to distance herself from Cadell.
After all, someone like Lorna was always self–centered; she wouldn’t share the burden with Cadell.
The video finished playing as Cadell was pushed into the police car, his eyes filled with rage, clearly showing
no fear.
Of course, to Cadell, he was the heir to the Hartman family. His family would surely protect him, ensuring that he wouldn’t bring shame upon them by going to prison.
Unfortunately for him, the police were the ones I personally reported to, and there would be no mistakes.
After all, I was not the Hartman family’s only enemy; countless others wanted to see them in trouble. With such an opportunity, how could their adversaries possibly miss it?
A sarcastic smile tugged at my lips, and my anger was somewhat eased.
Then, I said to Cyril, “You’re so thoughtful, remembering to record this video for me.”
Cyril quickly replied, “Do you like it?”
I raised an eyebrow. “Of course, I do!”
I knew that Charles would be back soon. Once he returned, he definitely wouldn’t let Cadell stay in prison. He would find a way to get him out, and by then, Cadell wouldn’t suffer much.
But with this video, things were different. As long as I wanted, I could upload it to the internet at any time. Even if Cadell didn’t end up in prison, so what? Those disgraceful things had already been captured.
Seeing my response, Cyril seemed to be in a good mood. He sent me a voice message, and I could hear the smile in his voice. “Since you like the gift I gave you so much, shouldn’t you reward me with something?”
His voice was soft, like a little dog whining for attention.
Honestly, hearing him say that made me a little soft–hearted, and I couldn’t refuse.
“Tell me, what kind of reward do you want?” I responded.
Cyril’s smile seemed to grow wider. “Have dinner with me, Aurora. I’m really lonely.”
I was stunned when I heard his answer. I thought Cyril would ask for an expensive gift, and I had already
prepared myself to handle it. As long as his request wasn’t too outrageous, I would agree.
But instead, Cyril only asked for a meal.
This left me a bit confused, and I couldn’t help but ask, “You want me to keep you company?”
“Of course,” he answered without hesitation. “Aurora, please have pity on me.”
The last sentence he spoke was unusually suggestive.
Although the words came from my phone, it felt as though he were whispering in my ear.
My fingers curled slightly. After all, it was just a meal. I had no reason not to agree, especially since Cyril and
I were working together. Going for a meal was perfectly normal.

Without thinking too much, I agreed.
Cyril chuckled softly. “Then let’s make it tomorrow night, alright? Charles will probably be back the day after tomorrow. Let’s indulge ourselves and enjoy one more night.”
I was stunned for a moment. I hadn’t expected Charles to return so soon.
Well, this was interesting. More drama appeared to be on the horizon.
