Chapter 43 How Can a Flower Yet Wither?
I could only hide, helplessly watching as Sylvia was bullied.
Her frail body had numerous Injuries in a short span of time.
My heart ached like it was being torn apart, tears Involuntarily streaming down my face, while she still smiled
at me…
It should have been me who was taken away! She was still so young, yet to bloom. How could she just wither away like this?
I was unwilling to accept it! But if I rushed out now, both of us would die. I could neither avenge her nor save her from this pain.
I could only kneel in despair, watching Sylvia being trampled by the villains, over and over again.
That scene was deeply engraved in my heart, becoming the most difficult nightmare to erase. No matter
what, I could never forget it.
In the years that followed, I often found myself trapped in the same nightmare, Sylvia’s face covered in blood constantly appearing in my mind. I hated all this with an intensity I could not control.
The burning hatred inside me grew stronger, consuming my sanity.
The wound at the corner of my lips was bitten open again. The sharp pain and the taste of blood mingled,
eroding my thoughts.
I absentmindedly fumbled for my phone but found nothing.
When I turned on the light, I saw the bouquet of golden roses on the table.
It was a gift from Cyril.
Calmness quietly swept over me. I looked up at the moonlight outside the window. The gentle glow made me
unconsciously recall the time spent with him.
Every time Cyril was by my side, he would firmly say to me, “Aurora, I will protect you. Don’t be afraid.”
I understood that this might have just been an impulsive promise from him, but at this moment, lacking a
sense of security, I clung to it as though it were a lifeline.
I kept repeating those words in my ears, gradually suppressing the pain in my heart.
‘It will be soon, Aurora. Don’t rush. It’ll be over soon. The truth about Sylvia will soon come to light, and when
that happens, everyone involved will pay the price.’
I forced myself to sleep again, and this time, the nightmare did not come back.
I slept more soundly.
The next morning, the first thing I did after waking up was check my phone messages.
According to my assumption, Cadell must have told Charles about my meeting with Cyril last night. After
Charles got the news, he would probably come to ask me about it.
However, an entire day passed, and there was still no message on my phone. Aside from Cyril occasionally

sharing his new day, no one else had contacted me.
Could it be that Charles didn’t care whether I had contact with Cyril?
Or was it that he was confident he could deal with me before I handed over the shares to Cyril?
I was full of doubts, so I called Darian and asked him to send more people to secretly protect me.
After doing all this, I felt a little lighter in my heart.
After dinner, I went out for a walk.
As soon as I reached the garden, I encountered Cadell.
He seemed to be here specially for me. As soon as he saw me, a glint of calculation flashed in his eyes.
I raised an eyebrow, feeling a hint of interest.
I really wanted to see what a fool like Cadell could possibly do.
No sooner had I thought this than Cadell walked up to me, his smile as warm as a spring breeze, his eyes full
of tenderness.
It felt just like when we first started dating.
I lowered my head, my face showing no emotion.
Cadell walked up to me, holding the wedding ring we had used on our wedding day.
I looked closely–it was the very one he had lost before.
‘What’s this? Is he planning to use feelings as a bargaining chip to win me back?‘
I couldn’t help but laugh inside. I gave him a cold look and silently mocked myself.
As expected, Cadell cautiously handed the ring to me.
With sincerity, he said, “Aurora, after going back last night, I reflected on myself. I wondered why, despite loving each other so much, we ended up like this…”
Hearing him bring up our past feelings made me feel disgusted, and I sarcastically replied, “What else could it be? Because you cheated, shamelessly brought another woman to our wedding, and even had s*x in our
wedding room–aren’t these good reasons?”
Cadell’s sentimental words were interrupted by me, and his smile immediately froze.
However, he quickly regained his composure and said tenderly, “Aurora, I know this was my fault, but every
man makes mistakes. You can ask others. Almost every man has done this, right?”
Hearing his self–righteous tone, I couldn’t help but sneer. “Are you proud of yourself? You all do these things because you have no shame. Do you think that gives you something to be proud of?”
I looked at him with deep disgust and continued, “I really can’t understand–what kind of person would take cheating as a point of pride and shamelessly tell me these things? Cadell, do you have no shame at all?”
He was stung by my words, his face turning pale, and he almost couldn’t hold back his anger.
But he quickly suppressed it and said softly, “Aurora, I accept your scolding. I know it’s my fault, but could
you give me another chance?”
He took a step closer to me, his eyes full of sincerity and pleading. “I can overlook what happened between

you and my uncle. If you’re willing, we can go back to how things were! I’ll handle things with Lorna, I promise I’ll have no further involvement with her. I only love you. How do you like it?”
I raised an eyebrow, not responding, just turning my gaze to what was behind him.
Cadell seemed to think this was a signal that I had agreed, so he became more forceful, saying, “I swear, I’ll never contact Lorna again. I truly love you, and you only, Aurora. Will you forgive me?”
I smiled. Cadell seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, thinking I had agreed.
But just as he was about to speak again, a sharp cry suddenly rang out, “Cadell! What did you just say?!”
Cadell’s face instantly stiffened, and he turned around.
To his surprise, it was Lorna, her face tear–streaked and her emotions completely out of control!
