Chapter 50 Lorna Will Meet with Misfortune
Edmund seemed momentarily stunned by my sudden question. He paused in confusion for a moment. “What did you say…?”
I smiled and responded, “About Lorna and Cadell, do you want to collaborate? Their downfall may not be enough to calm my anger. Have you considered taking it further?”
Hearing my words, Edmund chuckled softly, “What idea have you come up with now?”
His laughter was pleasant, making me feel a slight tingling in my ears.
I suppressed the sensation and replied with a smile, “How about a face–to–face meeting?”
“Sure.” Edmund agreed without hesitation, “Where are you staying? I’ll come pick you up tomorrow.”
He seemed even more eager than I was. I narrowed my eyes and grinned, “How about I come to you instead?
Lorna and I live in the same area, and if she sees the two of us together, our next move might be difficult to
execute.”
After hearing my reasoning, Edmund had no objections. He simply smiled and said, “Alright, I’ll wait for you at
home.”
I chuckled softly, chatted with Edmund for a few more moments, and then hung up.
That night, I slept relatively well.
But I didn’t rest for long, probably because my mind kept running over ways to scheme against Lorna. I woke
up before dawn.
I worked on refining the details of my design draft until daybreak, then changed clothes and drove to the address Edmund provided.
True to his Cavendish family heritage, Edmund’s residence was extraordinarily luxurious. Rather than a villa,
it could be called a mansion.
I owned a property here as well, worth about one billion dollars on the market.
He was wealthier than I had imagined.
This puzzled me. Why would someone so rich want to take a vice president position at my company?
As far as I knew, the Cavendish family had only one heir in his generation, so in theory, the entire family
fortune should belong to him, and there would be no need for him to work elsewhere.
Could it be… that he had other motives?
At this thought, my gaze deepened./
When I arrived, the butler had been waiting at the door for quite some time. He greeted me with a smile,
bowing slightly in his tailcoat. “Good day, are you Miss Wenmir?”
I nodded, and the butler smiled, “Mr. Cavendish has been waiting for you for a while, Miss Wenmir. Please
follow me.”
I replied and followed him inside.

The butler was very friendly, seemingly concerned that I might get bored. He chatted with me about many
interesting things along the way.
Eventually, we reached Edmund’s location. The butler smiled and said, “We’ve arrived, Miss Wenmir. I’ll leave
you to it.”
I nodded and raised an eyebrow at Edmund. He was lounging in a rocking chair, a book over his face,
apparently asleep.
Indeed, the sun was quite warm today, making it easy to drift off while lying here.
I approached him, intending to lift the book from his face, but as soon as I reached out, he grabbed my wrist.
His grip was strong, and I felt a slight pain in my wrist.
I whispered, “Edmund, it’s me.”
The hand holding my wrist immediately stopped, and the book slid off his face. His gaze locked onto me.
Those deep eyes, illuminated by the sunlight, looked incredibly charming.
Upon seeing my face, he lazily smirked. “You’re later than I expected.”
I was a little surprised. “Were you waiting for me?”
“Of course.” He placed the book on the table and smiled broadly at me. “Ever since you told me yesterday, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I waited for you all night, until early morning. Aurora, you’ve finally come.”
His gaze was affectionate, and his words carried the tenderness of a lover.
I couldn’t help but smile faintly. “It seems like you really hate Lorna. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have waited for
me this long.”
“Of course.” Edmund’s lips curled into a faintly sarcastic smile. “This is the first time I’ve been so insulted by
someone.”
With that, he led me to the gazebo.
The butler had already prepared snacks and juice, a variety that resembled a small banquet.
It seemed that Edmund was very serious about this matter, just as Cyril had said–this man was cunning and
vengeful, and he always retaliated.
After we sat down, Edmund looked straight at me. “So, tell me, what bad idea do you have?”
I was silent for a moment, wondering to myself, ‘What kind of image does Edmund have of me?‘
But I didn’t dwell on it and instead spoke. “Cadell wants to make peace with me.”
Edmund raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised. “And then?”
I smiled. “The reason he wants to make peace is because I hold 5% of the Hartman family’s shares. Edmund, as the heir to the Cavendish family, you should know that Cadell’s position as heir is not secure. His uncle Cyril is much more capable than he is, and he holds a considerable number of shares too.”
“Although Cyril’s shares are fewer than Cadell’s due to Charles’s bias, if I hand over my shares to Cyril, the heir might need to change.”
Edmund seemed intrigued. “That’s a good idea! Then I’ll help you suppress Cadell, and watch as his proud

status collapses completely! Just thinking about it is thrilling!”
I smiled. “I have an even more exciting plan. Because Cadell wants to make peace with me, he’s been trying to please me, and Lorna caught him doing this…”
Edmund’s ears perked up as he continued listening.
“To appease Lorna, Cadell has decided to let her work at the Hartman family business. Edmund, do you think… Lorna will believe that Cadell only wants the shares I hold?”
A light immediately flashed in Edmund’s eyes.
Talking to a smart person is such a pleasure. It saves time and effort.
Almost without me saying more, Edmund already understood my meaning. “You want me to get close to Lorna?”
“Exactly.” I smiled and responded. “Compared to a ticking time bomb, Edmund, your status and position are far more tempting.”
Edmund’s smile grew even brighter. “Interesting! Aurora, you really are a genius!”
I smiled at him, “In that case, do you agree to this partnership?”
“Of course I agree! He was thrilled. I looked at his radiant smile and thought to myself, Lorna is really going
to have a hard time
