Chapter 52 You And My Ol
Chapter 52 You And My Old Friend Look Very Similar
I let out a soft scoff. “Charles, you make a good point.”
After saying that, I turned my head to Cyril. “Let’s go inside.”
A smug smile appeared on Charles‘ face as he led the way.
To be honest, from the outside, I didn’t notice anything particular about this estate; everything looked normal. However, it was this very normalcy that made my sense of alertness grow stronger.
But that didn’t mean I was afraid–no matter how tight the security was, if I wanted to, my people could easily infiltrate.
Just then, a hand gently steadied me. I instinctively looked up, only to meet Cyril’s gaze.
His eyes were like gemstones carved by nature, as small and deep as the ocean, and with a single glance, it felt as though they could pull the soul from one’s body.
He smiled softly. “Miss Wenmir, be careful as you walk. Don’t trip. Although… I will always protect you.”
I couldn’t help but smile slightly.
My steps were steady, at least there had been no sign of me tripping just now.
Cyril had come to steady me not out of necessity, but to say one final thing. He was trying to reassure me, to tell me not to be afraid.
I looked up and gave him a warm smile. “With you here, I feel safe.”
He truly was an excellent partner. In this moment, he even took care of my emotional needs.
Cyril smiled, the curve of his lips softening his normally strong features, making him look extraordinarily charming.
Charles clearly didn’t understand our communication. He furrowed his brows slightly and urged, “Let’s hurry. We don’t want Mr. Hodge to get impatient.”
I had no objections and silently quickened my pace.
Cyril stayed by my side, maintaining a distance of half a meter. This was enough for him to handle any sudden situations.
If anyone were to harm me, Cyril would react instantly to protect me.
I had to admit, in a completely unfamiliar place, having someone like him with me made me feel secure.
The private estate was vast, and despite parking in the closest area, we still had to walk for more than ten minutes to reach our destination.
Philip was sitting at the main seat, sipping tea with elegant movements.
This was my first formal meeting with him, and his appearance was quite different from the one in the photographs.
Whether it was due to the lighting or something else, Philip’s complexion was extremely pale, his eyes tinged with dark circles, giving him the look of someone who had indulged excessively.

Hearing our approach, Philip lifted his head, his gaze falling on Cyril and me.
He merely glanced at Cyril before looking away, no longer paying him any attention. Instead, he focused his gaze directly on me.
His gaze was as intense as Cyril’s. However, Cyril’s eyes were gentle, making me feel at ease, whereas Philip’s stare made me feel uneasy and repulsed.
His gaze were sticky, cold like a snake. I couldn’t help but frown and spoke softly, “Hello, Mr. Hodge. My name is Aurora. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Philip snapped out of his trance at my words and withdrew his uncomfortable gaze, giving a faint smile. “I know. Charles told me about you.”
I feigned surprise, smiling broadly. “You remember me! Mr. Hodge, I came here today because I have something to ask of you…”
Before I could finish, he interrupted me. “Let’s put that aside for now. Aurora, you look very much like an old friend of mine.”
My heart skipped a beat, but I kept a look of innocent confusion. “Really? What a coincidence. If I may ask, what was your relationship with this old friend?”
Philip let out a light chuckle, a cold edge to his smile that sent a shiver down my spine.
“Relationship?” He looked at me with a mocking expression. “If I had to describe it, it would probably be master and slave.”
My heart raced, and my breath caught. I clenched my hands into fists.
Philip’s gaze locked onto me, as if trying to read every emotion on my face.
His tone grew more taunting. “That old friend of mine was once my plaything. She was stubborn. You
wouldn’t believe it. When she was first brought to me by my men, she was covered in blood. Three of her ribs were broken, and her forehead had two deep gashes. Thankfully, I come from a medical family with extended experience in treating scars, or else she would have been ruined.”
He spoke with such casualness, but inside, my pain was unbearable. My tongue was almost biting through
itself, the sharp sting keeping me awake.
I couldn’t stop myself from remembering the b****y scene from so long ago. Poor, frail Sylvia was cruelly thrown to the ground, her head covered in blood, yet she still managed to buy me some time, trembling with pain but never uttering a single groan of agony.
Philip didn’t seem intent on letting up. His eyes narrowed as he studied me, seemingly waiting for a sign of
pain.
His smile was sickening. “Aurora, the eyes of my plaything looked just like yours–so pure, so stubborn. I
always wanted to get her to obey me and even tortured her many times for that. Unfortunately, she never
obeyed. Eventually, I had to punish her.”
Punish? What punishment?
I could barely listen anymore, I knew, the “plaything” Philip spoke of was Sylvia!
What had he done to her? Had he beaten her? I had been searching for Sylvia for so long, but it was only

today that I heard from someone else about her situation. My heart felt like it had been burned by a red–hot tron, the smell of blood filling my throat.
I forced myself to keep calm, lifting my head to ask, “And then?”
Philip chuckled lightly. “Nothing much. It’s just that seeing you today reminded me of that plaything. I still regret it. If she had been as obedient as you, I would have treated her well,”
