Chapter 55 He Wants to Lay a Hand on My Mother
I suppressed the shock in my heart, then helplessly said, ‘Mr. Hodge, if possible, I can provide you with all the data from the examinations my mother has undergone. It should help you understand her condition better” Philip clicked his tongue in dissatisfaction, his voice low. ‘What if I insist on meeting your mothers
The smile on my face gradually faded, and I lifted my head to look at him. Philip’s expression remained cold. Aurora, remember, you are the one asking me for help. You have no choice but to agree to my request.” Seeing this, Charles quickly intervened, his tone stern as he reprimanded me, “Exactly! Aurora, I already told you before we came here that Mr. Hodge was busy and wouldn’t easily agree to your request. Now, Mr. Hodge is being generous. He’s willing to help you just by meeting your mother. Why would you refuse?”
My fingers involuntarily curled into a fist. How should I respond?
Of course, I didn’t want to agree!
Every word I said was true–my mother couldn’t bear any intense emotional stimulation. If Philip brought Sylvia’s photo to meet her, I could guarantee that she would be so upset she might die! How could I trust someone like Philip to visit my mother out of goodwill?
He was only after his own goal–to irritate my mother, causing both her and me to collapse. And later, he would probably casually say that we were mentally fragile and leave without a second thought. Afterward, no one would blame him except for me.
After all, he was just trying to help with her treatment, and the patient died because she was angry–how could anyone blame him for that?
I understood his malice all too well. In the business world, Lhad seen countless people like him.
If it weren’t for this moment, where I sensed something from his reaction, I never would have sought him out.
1 took a deep breath and said firmly, “No, I cannot take any risks.”
Philip narrowed his eyes dangerously, “Are you doubting me?”
Before I could respond, the butler of the private estate and a group of people surrounded us, blocking the door as if they expected me to agree.
Cyril remained silent but suddenly stepped in front of me, calmly meeting Philip’s gaze. “Mr. Hodge, this isn’t a matter of distrust. Aurora is simply protecting her mother. I believe you understand that, don’t you?”
Philip looked down at Cyril, a sarcastic smile playing on his lips. “Who do you think you are, daring to accuse me here?”
He waved his hand, and everyone around us stared at me and Cyril, as though ready to make a move at any second. The atmosphere was tense.
I frowned slightly, about to speak, but Cyril blocked me with his body. “Mr. Hodge, I need to inform you that I am from Knightfall Group.”
Philip paused for a moment, his gaze briefly flickering over to Charles, as if asking him why he hadn’t mentioned this before.

The name Knightfall Group still carried weight. Although it was a new company, the forces behind it were not
to be underestimated.
They were in the arms business! Who would dare ignore that?
Hartman’s expression stiffened. He spoke to Cyril in a low voice, “Come here! Stay out of Mr. Hodge’s
business!”
Cyril didn’t back down and continued to look at Charles coldly. “I’ve told you before, Father, Aurora is my employer. As long as I work for her, no one can threaten her.”
The tone was casual and indifferent, but it filled me with a quiet sense of happiness.
I looked up and met his gaze. He also turned to look at me. His eyes seemed to contain the entire universe.
Suddenly, I felt a wave of emotion. Pressing my thumb against the ring, I smiled at him.
Cyril’s eyes flickered slightly, but he said nothing. His gaze grew softer.
Charles was nearly furious at Cyril’s words, shouting, “Don’t be so ungrateful! Mr. Hodge is sparing you out of consideration for the Hartman family! If you keep being so stubborn, even Knightfall Group won’t be able to
protect you!”
At those words, I couldn’t help but want to laugh.
Philip didn’t want to confront Cyril because of Knightfall Group, but what did it have to do with the Hartman
family?
Did Charles think no one could see through his little scheme?
As soon as next year began, he planned to use Philip to remove Cyril!
Otherwise, why would he hide Cyril’s relationship with Knightfall Group?
The fact he tried to conceal was now exposed, and since Philip was unwilling to confront Knightfall Group,
Charles could only use this type of rhetoric to save face.
It was nothing more than a foolish and laughable tactic.
Cyril stood firmly by my side, slowly saying, “No knight would ever betray his employer.”
Philip sneered coldly from his throat. “Are you challenging me? What if I insist on meeting Aurora’s mother?”
Cyril was unafraid. “You can try.”
Philip was furious to the point of grinding his teeth, his voice icy as he spat out, “Cyril, no one in this world
dares to defy me!”
As soon as the words left his mouth, the people who had surrounded us lunged forward. Cyril, calm and composed, pulled me into his arms,/protecting me firmly.
His movements were incredibly swift. Despite being attacked by so many, he was handling everything with ease. As for me, being his burden, I had no choice but to endure the punches and kicks he took while
protecting me.
I urgently pressed the button on my ring, hoping my people would arrive soon!
Philip looked down from above, sneering. “Aurora, I’ll give you one last chance. If you kneel and beg me to go see your mother, I’ll let you off. What do you say?”

Just as his words finished, I felt a heat from my ring.
I chuckled softly and coldly looked at him. “Sorry, I must decline.”
Philip’s face darkened, and he slammed his hand on the table, standing up.
However, before he could make a move, a cold voice came from outside the door. “I don’t recall Mr. Hodge
becoming so unsympathetic, forcing others to do things they don’t want to do.”
Hearing that familiar voice, my emotions settled down instantly.
Philip’s face darkened, and he narrowed his eyes, glaring at the newcomer.
