Cyril’s words seemed to carry no particular meaning on the surface, but I knew it had hidden implications, and I dared not think too deeply about them.
I took a deep breath and responded with a joking tone, “Of course, I wouldn’t leave you before you’ve betrayed
me.”

betray you.”

helplessness.
At one point, I even entertained the thought that if Cyril had been the one I had been with for the past seven years, maybe I wouldn’t have suffered so much betrayal.
But right now, I had no mood for a new relationship; I just wanted to find Sylvia as soon as possible.

I couldn’t see Lorna’s expression, but I could hear her breathing growing heavy.

After the call ended, I felt a little better and lay back down to sleep.

I decided to quit the comment section and leave the whole thing behind, but then a few comments caught my eye. To my surprise, there weren’t many people insulting me. Instead, most comments were expressing
dissatisfaction with the Hartman family.
I continued reading in confusion, only to find that the initial posts were indeed as I had expected–most of the

It came from a newly registered account. The poster didn’t directly attack me but instead posted my mother’s medical records, with sensitive information removed.
The message read: Perhaps we should stop attacking her. Maybe she had no choice? Her mother has been ill for years, and her condition has worsened. She only wants to save her mother. Is that so wrong? Actually, her mother was transferred to a better hospital this morning. As for the rest, you can guess for yourselves.
This comment sparked a lot of discussion, with many in the comment section starting to speculate. Some conspiracy theorists even suggested that I had been coerced into agreeing to the Hartman family’s terms.
I stared at that first comment that spoke on my behalf, unable to snap out of it.
